Abstract

Van Gölü üzerinde gemilerle gerçekleştirilen yük ve yolcu taşımacılığı gibi faaliyetlerin geçmişi uzun yıllar öncesine dayanmaktadır. Günümüzde ise göl üzerindeki bu faaliyetler dizel motorlu gemilerle yapılmaktadır. Gemilerin kullandıkları fosil yakıtların dizel motorlarda yanması sonucu ortamda karbon dioksit (CO2), azot oksit (NOX), karbon monoksit (CO), kükürt oksit (SOX), partikül madde (PM), uçucu organik bileşik VOC ve hidrokarbon (HC) gibi egzoz emisyonlarının oluşumu gerçekleşmektedir. Gemi makinelerinde oluşan insan sağlığına ve çevreye zararlı olan egzoz emisyonları gemilerin bacalarından dışarı çıkarak havayı kirletmektedir. Yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda Van Gölü bölgesi ile ilgili gemilerden kaynaklı oluşan egzoz emisyon değerlerinin tespitine yönelik yapılmış bir çalışmanın yapılmadığı görülmüştür. Bu sebeple bu çalışma, alanda yapılmış olan mevcut diğer çalışmalardan farklılığını ortaya koyarak önemini artırmaktadır. Bu tez çalışması kapsamında, Van gölü bölgesinde faaliyet gösteren gemilerden kaynaklı egzoz emisyonlarının tahmini değerlerinin belirlenmesi ve ayrıca elde edilen emisyon değerlerinin bölgenin insan sağlığına ve çevresine olan muhtemel etkilerinin ortaya çıkarılması ile ilgili ileride yapılacak çalışmalarda referans alınacak bir çalışma olması amaçlanmaktadır. Van Gölü bölgesinde gemilerden kaynaklı egzoz emisyon değerlerinin tespiti ile ilgili çalışmada göl üzerinde faaliyet gösteren 6 feribot (4 eski ve 2 yeni), 2 deniz otobüsü ve 5 yolcu motoru olmak üzere toplamda 13 deniz aracına ait gerçek yakıt değerleri kullanılmıştır. Emisyon hesaplamalarında yukarıdan aşağı (top-down) yöntemi kullanılmış olup öncelikle 13 deniz aracından kaynaklı oluşan 8 yıl 11 aylık bir emisyon tahmini yapılmıştır. Daha sonra ise sadece 6 adet feribot için 1988 yılından 2020 yılına kadar yaklaşık 33 yıllık bir emisyon tahmini yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda Van Gölü bölgesinde faaliyet gösteren gemilerden kaynaklı oluşan toplam egzoz emisyon değerleri hesaplanarak sunulmuştur.

The history of cargo and passenger transportation by ships on Lake Van dates back many years. Today, these transportation on the lake are carried out by diesel-powered vessels. As a result of the burning of fossil fuels used by diesel ships, carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxide (NOX), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur oxide (SOX), particulate matter (PM), volatile organic compound (VOC) and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions occur. Exhaust emissions, which are harmful to human health and the environment, that occur in ship machinery go out of the funnels of the ships and pollute the air. As a result of the researches, it has been observed that there was no study conducted to determine the values of ship-based exhaust emissions in the region of Lake Van. That's why, being different from other existing studies in the field, this study increases its importance. Within the scope of this thesis, it is aimed to be a reference study to determine the values of ship-based exhaust emissions in the region of Lake Van and also to reveal the possible effects of the emission values obtained on the human health and environment of the region. In this study on the determination values of the ship-based exhaust emissions in the region of Lake Van, the actual fuel values of a total of 13 marine vehicles, 6 ferries (4 old and 2 new), 2 sea buses and 5 passenger engines, has been used on. The top-down method has been used in the emission calculations, and firstly, an emission estimation for 8 years and 11 months has been made from 13 vessels. Later, an emission estimate of approximately 33 years has been made for only 6 ferries from 1988 to 2020. As a result of the study, the total values of the ship-based exhaust emissions in the region of Lake Van has been calculated and presented.
