Abstract

The aim of this research is to get acquainted with the social representations that teachers of primary education have about Integral Sex Education (Law No. 26150), at School No. 4701 "Ciudad de Orán" in the city of San Ramón De La Nueva Orán, in the year 2020. To meet this objective, it was necessary to analyze social representations from its three dimensions: idea, image and valuation, as well as to know the historical construction of social representations in relation to integral sex education and describe the role of primary education teachers as implementers of the same. Therefore, the study was framed within a qualitative approach. It has a descriptive character and a design based on grounded theory. The information collection techniques were as follows: seven semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation and documentary analysis of the institutional educational project and teaching activities on sex education. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the collection instruments used were digital media. The results revealed that social representations about integral sex education are strongly linked to physiological and biomedical paradigms and also supported by moralistic models, all of them reductionist. This has an impact on the pedagogy of sexuality by promoting the prevention of unwanted diseases and pregnancies, far from promoting health and comprehensive knowledge about sexuality.
