Abstract

Obra col·lectiva biennal, creada per l'Institut de la Comunicació de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (InCom-UAB), l'any 2000. L'onzena edició, corresponent al bienni 2019-2020, va comptar amb el suport de la Generalitat de Catalunya; el patrocini de Naturgy; la col·laboració de la Diputació de Barcelona, l'Ajuntament de Girona i la Corporació Catalana De Mitjans Audiovisuals; la subscripció institucional de la Societat Catalana de Comunicació (filial de l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans); i la col·laboració científica de Estudio General de Medios (EGM)/Asociación para la Investigación de Medios de Comunicación (AIMC), Comscore, l'Observatori de la Comunicació a Catalunya, i el Portal de la Comunicació (InCom-UAB). En el marc del Grup Internacional d'Estudis sobre Comunicació i Cultura (InCom-UAB), reconegut com a Grup Consolidat de Recerca de la Generalitat de Catalunya per al període 2017-2020 (Referència de concessió 2017 SGR 00760) En el bienni 2019-2020 es van confirmar les tendències negatives en la premsa a Catalunya, de forma semblant al que va passar a Espanya i altres països de l'entorn. A l'inici del període les expectatives dels editors estaven posades en el creixement de la publicitat digital i la capacitat de convèncer la ciutadania de la necessitat de pagar per la informació en línia mentre el suport paper seguia la tendència a la baixa. Però els efectes de la pandèmia de la Covid-19 i dels episodis de confinament domiciliari van perjudicar les expectatives: la publicitat va disminuir de forma dràstica a tots els mitjans, però sobretot a la premsa, i es van trastocar tots els pronòstics, de manera que el sector de la premsa va entrar altre cop en crisi. La demanda als responsables polítics d'atenció i suport va ser generalitzada, a Catalunya, a Espanya i al món, i bona part de la discussió pública es va orientar envers el rol de les plataformes Google i Facebook respecte al periodisme i la indústria de la informació.
