    Preservar é cada vez mais relevante no contexto cultural das sociedades. Reconhecendo a importância que a preservação e o acesso à informação possuem destaca-se como é que no caso da Fundação Cupertino de Miranda, de Vila Nova de Famalicão, a digitalização da documentação dos acervos dos quais é detentora é uma ferramenta que contribui para este fim, preservar a cultura e permitir o acesso. Este projeto enquadra as questões de cultura, memória e preservação digital. Tem um enfoque no movimento surrealista intimamente relacionado com a proveniência dos acervos documentais apresentados. Destacam-se alguns projetos e diretrizes que demonstram o pendor cada vez mais digital de que as sociedades necessitam. São cada vez mais profícuos os objetivos que rumam à digitalização como forma de preservação, disseminação e acesso ao património cultural. Preserving is increasingly relevant in the cultural context of societies. Recognizing the importance that preservation and access to information have, we highlight how in the case of the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, Vila Nova de Famalicão, the digitization of the documentation of the collections it owns is a tool that contributes to this end, preserving culture and allowing access. This project frames the issues of culture, memory, and digital preservation. It has a focus on the surrealist movement closely related to the provenance of the documentary collections presented. We highlight some projects and guidelines that demonstrate the increasingly digital inclination that societies need. The goals towards digitalization as a way of preservation, dissemination and access to cultural heritage are increasingly fruitful. Projeto de Mestrado em Património Cultural

    Authors: Rodrigues, Joel Soares;

    O ritmo da evolução tecnológica e a sua relação com o ser humano tem aumentado significativamente ao longo dos tempos, sendo que um dos ramos que mais impacto está a causar no quotidiano das pessoas é a inteligência artificial. A grande ascensão desta área é um fenómeno transversal a praticamente todos os setores da sociedade. Esta dissertação enquadra-se no setor da justiça. Ao longo dos anos, um dos principais problemas nos sistemas judiciais por todo o mundo é a mo rosidade na resolução dos processos judiciais. Tendo por base esta problemática, as entidades governa mentais adotam cada vez mais reformas na área da justiça com recurso à tecnologia, desejando sistemas judiciais cada vez mais eficientes. Neste sentido, esta dissertação tem como objetivo o desenvolvimento de uma solução capaz de extrair conhecimento a partir de dados jurídicos portugueses. Esta solução é caracterizada por um conjunto de mecanismos, com recurso a técnicas de inteligência artificial, que vai desde a extração de dados até à realização de duas grandes experiências: análise de sentimentos e previsão da decisão. Estes mecanismos permitiram gerar diversas informações e conhecimento. Por um lado evidenciou-se a pouca relação entre a carga emocional dos textos dos juízes e a decisão, por outro destaca-se o desenvolvimento de modelos inteligentes capazes de prever a decisão com precisões de média de 76%, recorrendo ao conteúdo textual. Além disso, ao longo de todo o processo, também foram extraídas outras informações, como por exemplo, as palavras relacionadas com a procedência e improcedência de acórdãos, a legislação que é geralmente citada em conjunto, entre outras. Em paralelo desenvolveu-se um protótipo de uma dashboard com a apresentação de informações e conhecimento de alto nível sobre os dados. The pace of technological evolution and its relationship with the human being has increased over time. One of the branches causing the most significant impact on people’s daily lives is artificial intelligence. The remarkable rise in this area is a phenomenon that affects practically all sectors of society, but this project fits in the area of justice. Over the years, one of the significant problems in all countries’ judicial systems is the delay in resolving judicial processes. Based on this problem, governmental entities have been adopting more and more reforms in justice linked to technology, with a view to increasingly efficient judicial systems. This master’s dissertation aims to build up a solution capable of extract knowledge from Portuguese juridical data. This solution is characterized by a group of mechanisms that use artificial intelligence tech niques that go from the data extraction until the implementation of two experiences: sentimental analysis and predict judicial decisions. These mechanisms allow generating information and knowledge. On the one hand, there was a lack of connection between the emotional side of the text from the judges and the decision of the verdict. On the other hand, an important matter was developing the innovative models capable of predicting with a precision of 76%, using textual content extracted. Besides that, throughout the entire process, another type of information was removed, for example, the words relate to the court decisions, the legislation that was most of the time quoted together, among others. At the same time, was developed a dashboard prototype with the presentation of the high-level information and the knowledge of the data. Dissertação de mestrado integrado em Engenharia Informática

    Authors: Rouceiro, Adelaide Maria Celeiro;

    The festival and pilgrimage in honour of Nossa Senhora da Lapa is currently one of the most important festivities in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez. In Arcos de Valdevez, this devotion began in the 18th century and, when this investigation began, it was believed that the respective festivities had been constant until the middle of the 20th century, when they stopped taking place. This festival and pilgrimage was resumed in 2009, the feast of Nossa Senhora da Lapa even becoming the title of the «municipality feasts». The feast in honour of Nossa Senhora da Porta was no longer held at the end of the 19th century. It was resumed in 2010 as a result of a joint action by Santa Casa da Misericórdia and the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez. Since these two festivals were interrupted for decades, I wanted to know if they are currently felt like a return to old traditions, what is known about how each one of them was celebrated in the past and if it is possible to find similarities between the past and the present of each one of them. A festa e romaria em honra de Nossa Senhora da Lapa é atualmente uma das festividades mais importantes do concelho de Arcos de Valdevez. Em Arcos de Valdevez, esta devoção começou no século XVIII e, quando esta investigação se iniciou, cria-se que as respetivas festividades tinham sido constantes até meados do século XX, altura em que deixaram de se fazer. Esta festa e romaria veio a ser retomada em 2009, passando mesmo a festa de Nossa Senhora da Lapa a titular as «festas do concelho». A festa em honra de Nossa Senhora da Porta deixou de realizar-se nos finais do século XIX. Foi retomada em 2010 como resultado de uma ação conjunta da Santa Casa da Misericórdia e da Câmara Municipal de Arcos de Valdevez. Uma vez que estas duas festas foram interrompidas durante décadas, pretendíamos saber se, atualmente, são sentidas como um retomar de antigas tradições, o que se sabe sobre a forma como cada uma delas foi celebrada no passado e se é possível encontrar similitudes entre o passado e o presente de cada uma delas.     This study focuses on the illustrations dedicated to the child reader made by Bió (pseud. of Isabel Maria Vaz Raposo). From a set of six books, written and illustrated by this illustrator, we selected, due to some of its linguistic and iconic singularities which made of it a very “modern” edition, one publication: O Avô Astronauta (1962). In our analysis, we aim at elucidating, besides its main specificities, the most relevant aesthetics recurrencies of its graphic and/or visual architecture, as well as some aspects that distinguish the special intersemiotic synergy celebrated between words or literature and images which, in fact, allows to understand/identify Bió’s pioneering artistic language or style.     Authors: Calainho, Maria de Lourdes Ferreira;

    Esta pesquisa tem como propósito dimensionar e analisar o acervo da Arte Nova no Porto, utilizando-se dos seus fragmentos. Este exame buscou ir além das grandes obras já enumeradas, mas localizar em moradias e comércios, aqueles que detêm detalhes do estilo do movimento. A investigação verificou-se ainda que, na construção da memória social do Porto, essas frações de Arte Nova compõem um retrato no qual a cidade gosta de ser identificada, e o traduziu em produtos turísticos, oferecidos ao exterior. Através de seus arquitetos e de autores anónimos, ou de artistas renomados, na produção de suas obras, a Arte Nova portuguesa fez-se presente em variadas construções da cidade. Uma resinificação encontra-se em curso permitindo novos usos e atribuições a este património e já há quem os esteja usufruindo. Mesmo que não podendo ser considerada como uma das grandes detentoras de expressivos conjuntos arquitetónicos da Arte Nova no mundo, Portugal possui um acervo de qualidade e, ao utilizar-se da azulejaria, que é uma das mais fortes características do país, o distingue dos demais. The purpose of this research is to dimension and analyze the Art Nouveau collection in Porto, using its fragments. This examination sought to go beyond the great works already listed, but to locate in dwellings and shops, those that hold details of the movement's style. The investigation also verified that, in the construction of Porto's social memory, these Art Nouveau fractions compose a portrait in which the city likes to be identified, and translated it into tourist products, offered to the outside world. Through its architects and anonymous authors, or renowned artists, in the production of their works, Portuguese Art Nouveau was present in various constructions of the city. A resinification is underway allowing new uses and attributions to this heritage, and some are already enjoying them. Even if it cannot be considered as one of the great holders of expressive Art Nouveau architectural sets in the world, Portugal has a collection of quality and, by using tiles, which is one of the strongest characteristics of the country, distinguishes it from the rest.     Authors: Piçarra, Maria do Carmo;

    Embarques de tropas portuguesas, exercícios militares, a visita de Bernardino Machado à frente de batalha em Verdun e ao Reino Unido. No que se refere à participação na Primeira Guerra Mundial, resume-se a pouco mais do que isto o retrato dos “bravos soldados portugueses” no cinema. A exceção que confirma a regra é a do filme amador alemão, Afundamento do Augusto Castilho, que documenta como a brutalidade deste primeiro conflito mundial não obstou a que ainda fosse sendo observado um código de honra militar e a bravura exigida aos combatentes portugueses para suprir a falta de meios de combate. We address the shipment of Portuguese troops, undertaking of military exercises, and the visits of Bernardino Machado to the Western Front (Verdun) and to the United Kingdom during the World War One. The cinematic portrait of the “brave Portuguese soldiers” is examined. An alternative view is that of the German amateur film, Afundamento do Augusto Castilho (The Sinking of the Augusto Castilho), which documents how the brutality of the First World War coexisted with a code of military honor and the bravery required from Portuguese fighting men to make up for their lack of modern weaponry. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion (undefined)

    Authors: Lima, Carla Filipa Monteiro;

    The present investigation focused on the reality of the traditional Portuguese toy, on its general history, its manufacture and commercialization and, later on, on the attribution of value of which it was object as a patrimonial asset, when it was believed that toys express sociocultural values. In this dissertation we also look at the importance of toys being considered as cultural heritage and of their musealization for their appreciation and safeguarding. Therefore, we chose the Museu do Brinquedo Português de Ponte de Lima (Portuguese Toy Museum in Ponte de Lima) as a case study and, in order to better understand its action today, we conducted an interview with the Coordinator of this Museum, Doctor Ana Carneiro, to better understand the different working methods carried out at the Museum, what are its impacts on this kind of cultural heritage and what activities does the Museum promote within the community. A presente investigação centrou-se na realidade do brinquedo tradicional português, na sua história geral, no seu fabrico e comercialização e, mais tarde, na atribuição de valor do qual foi objeto enquanto bem patrimonial, entendendo-se que o brinquedo expressa valores socioculturais. Nesta dissertação debruçamo-nos também sobre a importância da patrimonialização e musealização para a valorização e salvaguarda do brinquedo. Assim, escolhemos como estudo de caso o Museu do Brinquedo Português de Ponte de Lima e, para melhor compreender a sua ação na atualidade, fizemos uma entrevista à Coordenadora deste Museu, Doutora Ana Carneiro, também com o objetivo de melhor ficar a conhecer os diversos métodos de trabalho levados a cabo no Museu, quais os seus impactos neste património e quais as atividades promovidas junto da comunidade.     D. Fernando I (1367-1383), aclamado rei em diversas cidades do reino de Portugal e da Galiza, chega ao trono num período de paz, herdando um erário público abastado. Contudo, o seu governo foi bastante atribulado, enfrentando uma grave crise interna (administrativa, política e social) e uma adversa política externa (guerras com Castela, guerra dos Cem Anos, o Grande Cisma do Ocidente). Tal conjuntura irá condicioná-lo na tomada de um conjunto de decisões com forte impacto nos destinos da nação, dedicando particular atenção ao sistema defensivo do reino, nomeadamente à reparação de muito castelos e à construção de outros, mas também ao robustecimento da proteção dos núcleos urbanos, tendo ordenado a consolidação e a construção de novas muralhas urbanas de norte a sul de Portugal, algumas das quais subsistiram muitos séculos depois, retratadas pela iconografia moderna, ou integrando de forma mais ou menos parcial a cidade até à atualidade. O objetivo do nosso trabalho centra-se na análise do amuralhamento dos núcleos urbanos portugueses em consequência da administração de um dos últimos monarcas medievais a investir na defesa, através da reforma e construção de novas muralhas urbanas, que irão desempenhar um papel importante na estruturação do espaço urbano medieval e na sua continuidade ao longo de muitos séculos. D. Fernando I (1367-1383), acclaimed king in several towns in the kingdom of Portugal and Galicia, came to the throne in a period of peace, inheriting a wealthy public treasury. However, his government was rather troubled, facing a serious internal crisis (administrative, political and social) and an adverse foreign policy (wars with Castile, the Hundred Years' War, the Great Schism in the West). Such conjuncture would condition him in taking a set of decisions with strong impact on the destiny of the nation, devoting particular attention to the kingdom's defensive system, namely the repair of many castles and the construction of others, but also to the strengthening of the protection of the urban centres, having ordered the consolidation and the construction of new urban walls from north to south of Portugal, some of which subsisted many centuries later, portrayed by modern iconography, or integrating more or less partially the city until today. Our work focuses on the analysis of the walling of Portuguese urban nuclei as a consequence of the administration of one of the last medieval monarchs to invest in defence, through the reform and construction of new urban walls, which will play an important role in the structuring of the medieval urban space and in its continuity over many centuries.     Authors: Pereira, Inês Alexandra da Silva;

    There is much debate about the concept of the Museum. However, it is unanimous that it is a basic element for the transmission of knowledge and social dynamism of a given community. In the case of the municipality of Viana do Castelo (Alto Minho, Portugal), the will to create a space that would demonstrate the memory, customs and traditions of vianese people made the present object of case study germinate: the Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo. The purpose of this case study is to make known an Ethnographic institution that contextualizes and studies several aspects related to Museology, Ethnography and a set of objects and knowledge that were and are part of the construction of the local cultural identity of vianense. But is the Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo a builder of the local vianense cultural identity? What are the diffusers of the construction of the local vianense cultural identity? There are several questions that need to be answered, however, in order to achieve the above mentioned objectives, it is necessary to mention the main purpose of this Master's dissertation, which includes the answer to the following starting question: “What is the role of the Museum of Costume of Viana do Castelo in the construction of the Local Cultural Identity of Vianense?”. In order to answer the question and the resulting objectives, digital and non-digital bibliographic references on the construction of the local cultural identity of vianense were analysed, using methodologies of an essentially qualitative nature. To conclude, it is possible to admit that currently the Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo has an active role in the construction of the local vianense cultural identity through the conservation and transmission to future generations of the knowledge, memory and traditions of vianense. This is made through a set of cultural symbols that are diffusers of the construction of the local vianense cultural identity. Muito se debate sobre o conceito de Museu, no entanto, é unânime que ele é um elemento básico para a transmissão de conhecimentos e dinamização social de uma determinada comunidade. No caso do concelho de Viana do Castelo (Alto Minho, Portugal), a vontade de criar um espaço que demonstrasse a memória, os costumes e tradições vianenses fizeram com que germinasse o presente objeto de estudo de caso: o Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo. O que se pretende com o presente estudo de caso é dar a conhecer uma instituição Etnográfica que contextualiza e estuda vários aspetos relacionados com a Museologia, Etnografia e um conjunto de objetos e saberes que faziam e fazem parte da construção da identidade cultural local vianense. Mas será o Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo um construtor da identidade cultural local vianense? Quais os difusores da construção da identidade cultural local vianense? Existem diversas questões às quais é preciso se dar resposta, porém, para atingir os objetivos supracitados, é necessário referir o principal propósito da presente dissertação de mestrado, que passa pela resposta à seguinte pergunta de partida: “Qual o papel do Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo na construção da Identidade Cultural Local Vianense?”. De forma a responder à questão e a objetivos dela decorrentes, foram analisadas referências bibliográficas digitais e não digitais sobre a temática da construção da identidade cultural local vianense, recorrendo-se a metodologias de cariz essencialmente qualitativo. Chegou-se à conclusão de que o Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo possui um papel ativo na construção da identidade cultural local vianense através da conservação e transmissão, às gerações futuras, do conhecimento, memória e tradições vianenses através de um conjunto de símbolos culturais que são difusores da construção da identidade cultural local vianense.     Authors: Ferreira, Ana Clara Luquett Pereira;

    A destruição de patrimônios culturais passou a fazer parte da agenda terrorista, principalmente, a partir do início do século XXI com a destruição dos Budas de Bamiã, no Afeganistão. Acompanhando a destruição, observa-se a espetacularização desses eventos, especialmente, dos que são protagonizados pelo Estado Islâmico quando atacam a cidade de Palmira, na Síria, a partir de 2015. Esse fenômeno tem chamado atenção de Organizações Internacionais, não só da área da cultura, mas também da área da segurança, como o Conselho de Segurança das Nações Unidas (CSNU). A partir desse contexto, a presente dissertação é guiada a partir da seguinte pergunta: como se desenvolve o processo de securitização do patrimônio cultural, ou seja, o contexto, as justificativas nas quais os atores securitizadores se apoiam para desenhar a crescente ligação entre patrimônio e segurança e também a audiência desses discursos? Para tal, a pesquisa será feita à luz da teoria da securitização desenvolvida pela Escola de Copenhague e também da abordagem de Thierry Balzacq para a mesma teoria. Dessa forma, a presente dissertação tem como objetivo compreender o que é patrimônio cultural e seu quadro legislativo de proteção, analisando o processo de securitização do mesmo com base no caso da destruição de Palmira orquestrada pelo Estado Islâmico, examinando os discursos sobre a destruição do patrimônio cultural nessa cidade a fim de identificar os elementos que fazem parte desse processo de securitização: o contexto, os atores securitizadores que ditam os rumos deste processo, juntamente com a audiência que recebe e interage com os discursos. Para que a pesquisa seja desenvolvida, far-se-á uma pesquisa qualitativa e uma análise de discurso a partir da leitura de documentos primários, por exemplo, relatórios da Organização das Nações Unidas para Educação, Ciência e Cultura (UNESCO), resoluções do CSNU tal como a Resolução2347 e declarações da ex-diretora-geral da UNESCO, Irina Bokova, cujo mandato foi importante para o debate sobre a proteção desses patrimônios. The destruction of cultural heritage became part of the terrorist agenda, especially from the beginning of the 21st century with the destruction of the Buddhas of Bamiyan, in Afghanistan. Accompanying the destruction, there is a spectacularization of these events, especially those that were carried out by the Islamic State against the city of Palmyra, in Syria, from 2015 onwards. This phenomenon has drawn the attention of International Organizations, not only in the cultural scope, but also in the security one, such as the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). From this context, this dissertation is guided by the following question: how is the process of securitization of cultural heritage developed, that is, which is the context and the justifications on which securitizing actors rely to draw the growing connection between heritage and security and also the audience of these speeches? To this end, this research will be based on the securitization theory developed by the Copenhagen School and also Thierry Balzacq's approach to the same theory. Thus, this dissertation aims to understand what cultural heritage is and its legislative framework of protection, analysing its securitization process based on the case of the destruction of Palmyra orchestrated by the Islamic State, examining the discourses on the destruction of cultural heritage in this city in order to identify the elements that are part of this securitization process: the context, the securitizing actors who dictate the direction of this process, along with the audience that receives and interacts with the discourses. For the research to be developed, a qualitative research will be carried, as well as discourse analysis on the basis of primary documents, for example, reports from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on cultural heritage, UNSC resolutions , such as Resolution 2347, and statements by former UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, who played a crucial role in the debate on the protection of cultural heritage.

    Authors: Rodrigues, Joel Soares;

    Authors: Rouceiro, Adelaide Maria Celeiro;

    The festival and pilgrimage in honour of Nossa Senhora da Lapa is currently one of the most important festivities in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez. In Arcos de Valdevez, this devotion began in the 18th century and, when this investigation began, it was believed that the respective festivities had been constant until the middle of the 20th century, when they stopped taking place. This festival and pilgrimage was resumed in 2009, the feast of Nossa Senhora da Lapa even becoming the title of the «municipality feasts». The feast in honour of Nossa Senhora da Porta was no longer held at the end of the 19th century. It was resumed in 2010 as a result of a joint action by Santa Casa da Misericórdia and the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez. Since these two festivals were interrupted for decades, I wanted to know if they are currently felt like a return to old traditions, what is known about how each one of them was celebrated in the past and if it is possible to find similarities between the past and the present of each one of them. A festa e romaria em honra de Nossa Senhora da Lapa é atualmente uma das festividades mais importantes do concelho de Arcos de Valdevez. Em Arcos de Valdevez, esta devoção começou no século XVIII e, quando esta investigação se iniciou, cria-se que as respetivas festividades tinham sido constantes até meados do século XX, altura em que deixaram de se fazer. Esta festa e romaria veio a ser retomada em 2009, passando mesmo a festa de Nossa Senhora da Lapa a titular as «festas do concelho». A festa em honra de Nossa Senhora da Porta deixou de realizar-se nos finais do século XIX. Foi retomada em 2010 como resultado de uma ação conjunta da Santa Casa da Misericórdia e da Câmara Municipal de Arcos de Valdevez. Uma vez que estas duas festas foram interrompidas durante décadas, pretendíamos saber se, atualmente, são sentidas como um retomar de antigas tradições, o que se sabe sobre a forma como cada uma delas foi celebrada no passado e se é possível encontrar similitudes entre o passado e o presente de cada uma delas.     This study focuses on the illustrations dedicated to the child reader made by Bió (pseud. of Isabel Maria Vaz Raposo). From a set of six books, written and illustrated by this illustrator, we selected, due to some of its linguistic and iconic singularities which made of it a very “modern” edition, one publication: O Avô Astronauta (1962). In our analysis, we aim at elucidating, besides its main specificities, the most relevant aesthetics recurrencies of its graphic and/or visual architecture, as well as some aspects that distinguish the special intersemiotic synergy celebrated between words or literature and images which, in fact, allows to understand/identify Bió’s pioneering artistic language or style.     Esta pesquisa tem como propósito dimensionar e analisar o acervo da Arte Nova no Porto, utilizando-se dos seus fragmentos. Este exame buscou ir além das grandes obras já enumeradas, mas localizar em moradias e comércios, aqueles que detêm detalhes do estilo do movimento. A investigação verificou-se ainda que, na construção da memória social do Porto, essas frações de Arte Nova compõem um retrato no qual a cidade gosta de ser identificada, e o traduziu em produtos turísticos, oferecidos ao exterior. Através de seus arquitetos e de autores anónimos, ou de artistas renomados, na produção de suas obras, a Arte Nova portuguesa fez-se presente em variadas construções da cidade. Uma resinificação encontra-se em curso permitindo novos usos e atribuições a este património e já há quem os esteja usufruindo. Mesmo que não podendo ser considerada como uma das grandes detentoras de expressivos conjuntos arquitetónicos da Arte Nova no mundo, Portugal possui um acervo de qualidade e, ao utilizar-se da azulejaria, que é uma das mais fortes características do país, o distingue dos demais. The purpose of this research is to dimension and analyze the Art Nouveau collection in Porto, using its fragments. This examination sought to go beyond the great works already listed, but to locate in dwellings and shops, those that hold details of the movement's style. The investigation also verified that, in the construction of Porto's social memory, these Art Nouveau fractions compose a portrait in which the city likes to be identified, and translated it into tourist products, offered to the outside world. Through its architects and anonymous authors, or renowned artists, in the production of their works, Portuguese Art Nouveau was present in various constructions of the city. A resinification is underway allowing new uses and attributions to this heritage, and some are already enjoying them. Even if it cannot be considered as one of the great holders of expressive Art Nouveau architectural sets in the world, Portugal has a collection of quality and, by using tiles, which is one of the strongest characteristics of the country, distinguishes it from the rest.     Authors: Piçarra, Maria do Carmo;

    Authors: Lima, Carla Filipa Monteiro;

    The present investigation focused on the reality of the traditional Portuguese toy, on its general history, its manufacture and commercialization and, later on, on the attribution of value of which it was object as a patrimonial asset, when it was believed that toys express sociocultural values. In this dissertation we also look at the importance of toys being considered as cultural heritage and of their musealization for their appreciation and safeguarding. Therefore, we chose the Museu do Brinquedo Português de Ponte de Lima (Portuguese Toy Museum in Ponte de Lima) as a case study and, in order to better understand its action today, we conducted an interview with the Coordinator of this Museum, Doctor Ana Carneiro, to better understand the different working methods carried out at the Museum, what are its impacts on this kind of cultural heritage and what activities does the Museum promote within the community. A presente investigação centrou-se na realidade do brinquedo tradicional português, na sua história geral, no seu fabrico e comercialização e, mais tarde, na atribuição de valor do qual foi objeto enquanto bem patrimonial, entendendo-se que o brinquedo expressa valores socioculturais. Nesta dissertação debruçamo-nos também sobre a importância da patrimonialização e musealização para a valorização e salvaguarda do brinquedo. Assim, escolhemos como estudo de caso o Museu do Brinquedo Português de Ponte de Lima e, para melhor compreender a sua ação na atualidade, fizemos uma entrevista à Coordenadora deste Museu, Doutora Ana Carneiro, também com o objetivo de melhor ficar a conhecer os diversos métodos de trabalho levados a cabo no Museu, quais os seus impactos neste património e quais as atividades promovidas junto da comunidade.     Authors: Ribeiro, Maria do Carmo Franco;

    D. Fernando I (1367-1383), aclamado rei em diversas cidades do reino de Portugal e da Galiza, chega ao trono num período de paz, herdando um erário público abastado. Contudo, o seu governo foi bastante atribulado, enfrentando uma grave crise interna (administrativa, política e social) e uma adversa política externa (guerras com Castela, guerra dos Cem Anos, o Grande Cisma do Ocidente). Tal conjuntura irá condicioná-lo na tomada de um conjunto de decisões com forte impacto nos destinos da nação, dedicando particular atenção ao sistema defensivo do reino, nomeadamente à reparação de muito castelos e à construção de outros, mas também ao robustecimento da proteção dos núcleos urbanos, tendo ordenado a consolidação e a construção de novas muralhas urbanas de norte a sul de Portugal, algumas das quais subsistiram muitos séculos depois, retratadas pela iconografia moderna, ou integrando de forma mais ou menos parcial a cidade até à atualidade. O objetivo do nosso trabalho centra-se na análise do amuralhamento dos núcleos urbanos portugueses em consequência da administração de um dos últimos monarcas medievais a investir na defesa, através da reforma e construção de novas muralhas urbanas, que irão desempenhar um papel importante na estruturação do espaço urbano medieval e na sua continuidade ao longo de muitos séculos. D. Fernando I (1367-1383), acclaimed king in several towns in the kingdom of Portugal and Galicia, came to the throne in a period of peace, inheriting a wealthy public treasury. However, his government was rather troubled, facing a serious internal crisis (administrative, political and social) and an adverse foreign policy (wars with Castile, the Hundred Years' War, the Great Schism in the West). Such conjuncture would condition him in taking a set of decisions with strong impact on the destiny of the nation, devoting particular attention to the kingdom's defensive system, namely the repair of many castles and the construction of others, but also to the strengthening of the protection of the urban centres, having ordered the consolidation and the construction of new urban walls from north to south of Portugal, some of which subsisted many centuries later, portrayed by modern iconography, or integrating more or less partially the city until today. Our work focuses on the analysis of the walling of Portuguese urban nuclei as a consequence of the administration of one of the last medieval monarchs to invest in defence, through the reform and construction of new urban walls, which will play an important role in the structuring of the medieval urban space and in its continuity over many centuries.     Authors: Pereira, Inês Alexandra da Silva;

    There is much debate about the concept of the Museum. However, it is unanimous that it is a basic element for the transmission of knowledge and social dynamism of a given community. In the case of the municipality of Viana do Castelo (Alto Minho, Portugal), the will to create a space that would demonstrate the memory, customs and traditions of vianese people made the present object of case study germinate: the Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo. The purpose of this case study is to make known an Ethnographic institution that contextualizes and studies several aspects related to Museology, Ethnography and a set of objects and knowledge that were and are part of the construction of the local cultural identity of vianense. But is the Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo a builder of the local vianense cultural identity? What are the diffusers of the construction of the local vianense cultural identity? There are several questions that need to be answered, however, in order to achieve the above mentioned objectives, it is necessary to mention the main purpose of this Master's dissertation, which includes the answer to the following starting question: “What is the role of the Museum of Costume of Viana do Castelo in the construction of the Local Cultural Identity of Vianense?”. In order to answer the question and the resulting objectives, digital and non-digital bibliographic references on the construction of the local cultural identity of vianense were analysed, using methodologies of an essentially qualitative nature. To conclude, it is possible to admit that currently the Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo has an active role in the construction of the local vianense cultural identity through the conservation and transmission to future generations of the knowledge, memory and traditions of vianense. This is made through a set of cultural symbols that are diffusers of the construction of the local vianense cultural identity. Muito se debate sobre o conceito de Museu, no entanto, é unânime que ele é um elemento básico para a transmissão de conhecimentos e dinamização social de uma determinada comunidade. No caso do concelho de Viana do Castelo (Alto Minho, Portugal), a vontade de criar um espaço que demonstrasse a memória, os costumes e tradições vianenses fizeram com que germinasse o presente objeto de estudo de caso: o Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo. O que se pretende com o presente estudo de caso é dar a conhecer uma instituição Etnográfica que contextualiza e estuda vários aspetos relacionados com a Museologia, Etnografia e um conjunto de objetos e saberes que faziam e fazem parte da construção da identidade cultural local vianense. Mas será o Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo um construtor da identidade cultural local vianense? Quais os difusores da construção da identidade cultural local vianense? Existem diversas questões às quais é preciso se dar resposta, porém, para atingir os objetivos supracitados, é necessário referir o principal propósito da presente dissertação de mestrado, que passa pela resposta à seguinte pergunta de partida: “Qual o papel do Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo na construção da Identidade Cultural Local Vianense?”. De forma a responder à questão e a objetivos dela decorrentes, foram analisadas referências bibliográficas digitais e não digitais sobre a temática da construção da identidade cultural local vianense, recorrendo-se a metodologias de cariz essencialmente qualitativo. Chegou-se à conclusão de que o Museu do Traje de Viana do Castelo possui um papel ativo na construção da identidade cultural local vianense através da conservação e transmissão, às gerações futuras, do conhecimento, memória e tradições vianenses através de um conjunto de símbolos culturais que são difusores da construção da identidade cultural local vianense.     Authors: Ferreira, Ana Clara Luquett Pereira;
