    Authors: Carvalho, Ana Catarina Fernandes;

    Os territórios rurais encontram-se, cada vez mais, confrontados com os graduais efei tos do abandono. Caracterizados por localizarem-se na periferia de um centro extre mamente intensificado são deparados com as consequências da falta de integração de espaços degradados e carência de um planeamento territorial. A Região de Prado detém tais características e como tal o interesse por esta surgiu, assim como o caráter intrínseco do abandono ligado à indústria cerâmica. Desta for ma, neste projeto de investigação é analisada a indústria cerâmica que, em tempos, foi determinante na construção e consolidação de uma paisagem produtiva, auxiliada pela natureza do solo argiloso, onde a olaria pôde facilmente estabelecer-se em todas as freguesias da Região de Prado tornando-se, em pouco tempo, uma das indústrias mais promissoras do Minho. Com base no constituinte catalisador deste território – a argila – o trabalho de projeto rege-se a partir do entendimento deste recurso mineral no território, assim como os impactos e transformações que a sua extração causou na paisagem das Lagoas dos Carvalhinhos, desde a antiguidade até ao presente. Posto isto, o objetivo deste trabalho procura responder a problemas locais, promoven do as práticas culturais do território e providenciando um ambiente ecologicamente sustentável por meio do entendimento local. Através da aproximação ao abandono de paisagens extrativas e industriais, interpretando o seu valor patrimonial e de memó ria como meio de sugerir novas possibilidades. Rural territories are increasingly confronted with the gradual effects of abandonment. Characterised by being located on the periphery of an extremely intensified centre they are faced with the consequences of the lack of integration of degraded spaces and the lack of territorial planning. The Region of Prado holds such characteristics and as such the interest for this arose, as well as the intrinsic character of abandonment linked to the ceramic industry. In this way, in this research project is analysed the ceramic industry that, in times past, was determinant in the construction and consolidation of a productive landscape, aided by the nature of the clay soil, where the pottery could easily establish itself in all parishes of the Prado Region becoming, in a short time, one of the most promising industries of Minho. Based on the catalyst constituent of this territory - the clay - the project work is go verned from the understanding of this mineral resource in the territory, as well as the impacts and transformations that its extraction caused in the landscape of Lagoas dos Carvalhinhos, since antiquity until the present. Having said this, the aim of this work seeks to respond to local problems, promoting the territory’s cultural practices and providing an ecologically sustainable environment through local understanding. Through approaching the abandonment of extractive and industrial landscapes, interpreting their heritage and memory value as a means of suggesting new possibilities.     Authors: Lopes, Liliana Filipa Teixeira;

    Tea and porcelain are two of the most iconic goods ever commercialized by China. Both tea and porcelain quickly captivated the markets and impacted the cultures they came in contact with, and Europe was no exception. In Europe, from the contact and fascination with China the chinoiserie, an aesthetic and artistic movement inserted into the rococo baroque, was born. During the golden age of chinoiserie there was a high consumption of exotic goods originating phenomenon such as the “five o’clock tea” and “the porcelain fever.” The tea set is therefore the perfect junction between these two commercial goods. Through an analysis of the Chinese porcelain tea sets that came to Europe we can get an understanding of the artistic tastes and tendencies as well as shed light on the evolution of the tea consumption habits. Portugal, the country responsible for initially bringing tea and porcelain to Europe, was the one that least explored their commercial potential, as well as the country that developed their national production of porcelain the latest. Using the tea set as a study object this dissertation aims to look for the remain of Chinese aesthetic influences in the early productions of Portuguese porcelain which were made by the factory of Vista Alegre. O chá e a porcelana são dos bens mais icónicos comercializados pela China. Tanto o chá como a porcelana cativaram rapidamente os mercados e impactaram as culturas às quais chegaram e a Europa não foi exceção. Do contacto e do fascínio com a China nasceu na Europa a chinoiserie, um movimento estético e artístico. Durante o auge da chinoiserie deu-se um consumo elevado destes bens exóticos dando origem a fenómenos como o ‘chá das cinco’ e a ‘febre da porcelana’. O serviço de chá apresenta-se como a junção perfeita entre estes dos bens comerciais. Através de uma análise dos serviços de porcelana chineses chegados à Europa podemos compreender mais acerca dos gostos e tendências artísticas bem como depreender a evolução dos hábitos de consumo de chá. Portugal, responsável por trazer inicialmente a porcelana e o chá para a Europa, foi o país que menos explorou o seu potencial comercial, e também o país que desenvolveu mais tarde a sua produção nacional de porcelana. Tomando o serviço de chá como objeto de estudo, esta dissertação pretende procurar os vestígios de influências estéticas chinesas nas produções iniciais de porcelanas portuguesas, levadas a cabo pela fábrica da Vista Alegre. 茶叶和瓷器是中国有史以来最具标志性的两种商品。茶叶和瓷器都迅速占 领了市场,并影响了它们所接触的文化,欧洲也不例外。 在欧洲,由于对中国的接触和迷恋,中国风诞生了,这是一种融入洛可可 式巴洛克风格的审美和艺术运动。在中国风的黄金时代,出现了“下午茶”和“瓷 器热”等异域商品的高消费现象。因此,茶具是这两种商品的完美结合。通过对 传入欧洲的中国瓷器茶具的分析,我们可以了解其艺术品味和倾向,并揭示茶 叶消费习惯的演变。 葡萄牙是最初将茶叶和瓷器带到欧洲的国家,是开发其商业潜力最少的国 家,也是最晚发展本国瓷器生产的国家。本论文以茶具为研究对象,旨在寻找 Vista Alegre工厂生产的早期葡萄牙瓷器中中国美学影响的遗迹。 Dissertação de mestrado em Estudos Interculturais Português/Chinês (especialização em Chinês para Falantes de Português)

    O concelho de Vila Pouca de Aguiar é herdeiro de um património – cultural e natural – de valor ímpar. Os sítios arqueológicos identificados, e os bens materiais a estes associados, comprovam uma ocupação humana que se inicia, pelo menos, desde a Pré-História Recente e, com maior ou menor expressão contínua noutros períodos históricos. O presente trabalho tem como base este milenar património histórico e arqueológico e visa desenvolver estratégias de valorização do mesmo. Inventaria 22 elementos patrimoniais do território aguiarense e, através da análise SWOT dos mesmos, oferece estratégias para melhoria da sua visibilidade e acessibilidade, e contempla a criação de percursos e itinerários turísticos de diferentes tipologias e temáticas. Elaboram-se propostas que contribuem para tornar o património em estudo um recurso turístico, naturalmente interligado com outros sítios de interesse patrimonial, contribuindo, assim, para promover a região, os seus produtos endógenos e, por consequência, prolongar a estadia dos visitantes e dos turistas no concelho. Procura-se, também, contribuir para o desenvolvimento local e regional tanto a nível económico, como social e cultural. The municipality of Vila Pouca de Aguiar is heir to a heritage – both cultural and natural – of unique value. The archaeological sites identified, and the material goods associated with them, prove human occupation that goes back, at least, since the Late Prehistory and, with greater or lesser expression, continues through other historical periods. The present work focuses on this millenary historical and archaeological heritage and aims to develop strategies for enhace it. It catalogues 22 heritage elements of the Aguiar territory and, through a SWOT analysis of those elements, offers strategies to improve their visibility and accessibility, and contemplates the creation of routes and tourist itineraries with different typologies and themes. Elaborated proposals contribute to make the heritage under study a tourist product, naturally interconnected with other sites of heritage interest, thus contributing to promote the region, its endogenous products- and, consequently, prolong the stay of visitors and tourists in the county. It also seeks to contribute to local and regional development at the economic, social, and cultural levels. Projeto de mestrado Património Cultural

    Authors: Caçador, Ricardo Filipe Sousa;

    A proximidade entre a Informática e a Saúde é cada vez maior a cada dia que passa. Nos dias que correm é comum os hospitais guardarem eletronicamente todo o historial e relatórios clínicos dos utentes. O armazenamento digital destes dados traz vantagens aos sistemas de saúde como a acessibilidade, a otimização de recursos e redução de custos, a diminuição do erro médico e o auxílio nas tomadas de decisões. Grande parte desses dados está em formato de texto livre, ou seja, são dados não estruturados. Para os sistemas computacionais, este tipo de dados representa um maior desafio quer na análise, quer no seu processamento. Sendo que, para este tipo de informação ser processada automaticamente é necessário recorrer ao Processamento de Linguagem Natural, uma subárea da Inteligência Artificial. Tarefas como classificação ou reconhecimento de entidades em textos requerem quase sempre textos anotados. O processo de anotação dos textos é demorado e pouco atrativo para o ser humano levando a que a quantidade disponível de dados anotados não seja em grande volume e consequentemente a que a aplicação de modelos de Machine Learning não seja a mais eficiente, resultado em problemas de over fitting e não generalizando como seria de desejar. Devido a isto, a procura por uma solução de anotação automática dos dados em massa é necessária e extremamente útil. A principal contribuição desta dissertação é o desenvolvimento de uma aplicação para a anotação automática de informação clínica. Esta aplicação permitirá a anotação de grandes quantidades de dados de forma automática comparativamente a outras ferramentas e abordagens existentes. The proximity between Informatics and Health is growing day by day. Nowadays, it is common for hospitals to store all the history and clinical data electronically. The digital storage of these data brings advantages to health systems such as accessibility, optimization of resources and cost reduction, reduction of medical errors and help in decision-making. However, most of this data is in free-text format, that is, unstructured data. For computer systems, this type of data represents an enormous challenge both in analysis and processing. For this type of information to be processed automatically, it is necessary to resort to Natural Language Processing, a sub-area of Artificial Intelligence. Tasks such as classification or name entity recognition almost always require annotated text. The process of annotating texts is time-consuming and unattractive for human beings, leading to the fact that the available amount of annotated data is not large. Consequently, the application of Machine Learning models is not the most efficient, resulting in overfitting problems and not generalizing as we would like. Due to this, the search for a solution of automatic annotation of clinical data is necessary and extremely useful. The main contribution of this dissertation is the development of an application for the automatic annota tion of clinical information. This application will allow the annotation of large amounts of data automatically compared to other existing tools and approaches. Dissertação de mestrado integrado em Engenharia Informática

    Authors: Barros, Beatriz Sartori Pazinato Teixeira;

    A importância da cozinha no espaço social da casa: um breve olhar sobre a sua história, será o tema deste trabalho. Considerando a cozinha como um espaço fundamental do habitar, nesta dissertação refletiu-se sobre a sua evolução e importância enquanto espaço social da casa. Este espaço tem uma história que remonta ao uso do fogo na casa. Com o passar do tempo, a cozinha foi-se transformando e evoluindo, adaptando-se às mudanças sociais e tecnológicas, até aos dias de hoje. Assim, este trabalho retoma a evolução histórica da cozinha na procura da excecionalidade deste espaço enquanto elemento estruturante da domesticidade. Com o passar dos séculos, a cozinha foi-se aproximando do núcleo central da casa e tornando-se fundamental na vida familiar, um espaço mais higiénico e seguro. Inicialmente considerado um espaço secundário e de “Serviço”, foi-se transformando gradualmente num espaço central e “Social.” Debruçando-nos, assim, sobre a arquitetura doméstica, analisámos o espaço da cozinha e os seus elementos, de modo a compreender o que motivou cada mudança, desde o século X até à atualidade. O cruzamento do terceiro capítulo com os anteriores foi fundamental para alcançar as conclusões do trabalho, sendo que as mudanças sociais, dentro e fora de casa, tiveram grande influência nos espaços do habitar. Em suma, ao compreender a importância da cozinha enquanto espaço nuclear da domesticidade, evidenciou-se o seu caráter catalisador, promotor de sociabilização, nem sempre existente ao longo da sua história. The importance of the kitchen in the social space of the home: a brief look at its history, will be the theme of this work. Considering the kitchen as a fundamental space for living, this dissertation reflects on its evolution and importance as a social space in the home. This space has a history that goes back to the use of fire in the house. Over time, the kitchen has been transformed and evolved, adapting to social and technological changes, until today. Thus, this paper resumes the historical evolution of the kitchen in the search for the exceptionality of this space as a structuring element of domesticity. Over the centuries, the kitchen has become closer to the central core of the home and has become fun damental in family life, a more hygienic and safer space. Initially considered a secondary and “Service” space, it gradually became a central and “Social” space. Focusing, thus, on domestic architecture, we analyzed the kitchen space and its elements, in order to understand what motivated each change, from the tenth century to the present day. The crossing of the third chapter with the previous ones was funda mental to reach the conclusions of the work, being that the social changes, inside and outside the home, had a great influence in the living spaces. In short, by understanding the importance of the kitchen as a nuclear space of domesticity, its catalytic character became evident, promoting socialization, not always existing throughout its history.     Authors: Miguel, Maria Inês Marques;

    Atualmente, a necessidade de ligar e relacionar dados de diversas fontes, vai sendo cada vez maior, e é aí que a Web Semântica vem dar uma solução. Essa solução consiste na utilização de Linked Open Data, que através da uniformização dos padrões e vocabulários utilizados, permite a sua interoperabilidade com outros dados. Neste projeto de investigação será utilizada a base de dados da Unidade de Arqueologia da Universidade do Minho. Atualmente os seus dados não estão disponíveis abertamente, dificultando a sua utilização por investigadores fora da Universidade. O objetivo é tornar alguns dados dessa base de dados em Linked Open Data, de forma a permitir que outros investigadores possam utilizá-los e relacioná-los com outros dados. Para a realização da revisão de leitura foi utilizado o método PRISMA. Esta revisão de leitura é necessária visto que é bastante importante ter uma boa base teórica de forma que todos os passos necessários à sua concretização sejam realizados de maneira correta. Com a revisão concluída, foram exploradas algumas ontologias, dando enfânse no CIDOC CRM, para perceber quais são as opções de modelos de estruturação de dados disponíveis e que poderão ser utilizados. Foram também explorados os conceitos base desta área, tais como o que é a Web Semântica e as suas componentes principais, tendo sido também explorado o que é um Linked (Open) Data. Em adição, foram explorados projetos semelhantes ao que este projeto de investigação pretende desenvolver, de forma a perceber que tecnologias foram utilizadas e se alguma será útil para a implementação neste projeto. É também explicado o método de investigação utilizado, o Design Science Resarch, e o método de criação de um Perfil de Aplicação, o Dublin Core Tabular Application Profile, um dos pontos fulcrais do projeto. Como resultados temos o Perfil de Aplicação criado no âmbito deste projeto, os dados transformados para RDF e inseridos num triplestore, um esquema de classes e propriedades e um vocabulário controlado codificado em SKOS. Este projeto torna-se bastante útil para quem pretender transformar dados arqueológicos em Linked Data, pois são especificados todos os passos tomados no seu desenvolvimento. Currently, the need to link and relate data from various sources is increasing, and that is where the Semantic Web comes to provide a solution. This solution is the use of Linked Open Data, which through the standardization of standards and vocabularies used, allows its interoperability with other data. In this research project, the database of the Archaeology Unit of the University of Minho will be used. Currently, its data is not openly available, making its use by researchers outside the University difficult. The goal is to make some data from this database Linked Open Data, to allow other researchers to use it and relate it with other data. The PRISMA method was used to conduct the reading review. This reading review is necessary, since it is quite important to have a good theoretical base, so that all the steps needed to accomplish it are done correctly. With the review completed, some ontologies were explored, focusing on CIDOC CRM, to understand what options of data structuring models are available and that could be used. The basic concepts of this area were also explored, such as what is the Semantic Web and its main components, and what is Linked (Open) Data. In addition, similar projects to the one that this research project intends to develop were explored, to understand what technologies were used and if any will be useful and a potential implementation on this project. The research method used, Design Science Research, is also explained, as well as the method of creating an Application Profile, the Dublin Core Tabular Application Profile, one of the project’s focal points. As results we have the Application Profile that was created within this project, the data transformed to RDF and inserted into a triplestore, a schema of classes and properties and a controlled vocabulary encoded in SKOS. This project becomes very useful for those who intend to transform archaeological data into Linked Data, because all the steps taken in its development are specified.     Authors: Santos, Filipa Rodrigues Dias Ferreira dos;

    A apanha do sargaço constitui uma atividade imemorial, complementar à atividade agrícola, que pressupõe a recolha e secagem das macroalgas para fertilização das colheitas. Antes da aplicação generalizada dos adubos químicos, as populações rurais dedicavam-se também a esta faina agromarítima, considerada uma das formas mais eficazes de fertilização da terra. O incremento da procura deste recurso natural para fins agrícolas deu origem a um fluxo populacional crescente em seu torno e a uma aproximação gradual das gentes para junto da linha da costa. Enquanto elemento de ligação entre o espaço terrestre e marítimo, a recolha de sargaço contribuiu significativamente para a formação e fixação de aglomerados costeiros no litoral Norte português ao longo dos séculos, visto que apesar das suas motivações agrícolas, a atividade acabou por se desenvolver, económica e socialmente, em estreita relação com a atividade piscatória. Neste sentido, a presente investigação tem como objeto central de estudo as dinâmicas culturais em torno da atividade sargaceira na comunidade piscatória de Angeiras, pertencente à freguesia de Lavra, no município de Matosinhos. A instabilidade financeira e a falta de condições de vida e trabalho na região contribuíram para a formação gradual de aglomerados costeiros, cuja consolidação dependeu, significativamente, da exploração dos recursos haliêuticos. A diversidade de perfis sociológicos que estão na sua origem contribuíram para a formação de uma comunidade sociologicamente híbrida, cuja identidade é indissociável das relações estabelecidas entre a terra e o mar. Assim, com recurso a uma metodologia etnográfica e visual de análise, a presente investigação visa refletir acerca do processo de construção identitária da comunidade piscatória de Angeiras e do papel da prática sargaceira na dupla natureza agrícola e marítima das suas gentes. Detentores de um património cultural material e imaterial notável, torna-se essencial compreender o seu passado técnico, social e económico de modo a tentar descodificar um modo de vida partilhado cujos hábitos, objetos, comportamentos, políticas de género, saberes e tradições contribuem, conjuntamente, para dar conta de processos específicos de apropriação prática e simbólica do “espaço” onde a comunidade interage e se desenvolve. Para além disso, na tentativa de contrariar o atual cenário de desperdício e inutilização do sargaço que abrange a costa portuguesa, exploram-se soluções alternativas e inovadoras para o seu destino, atendendo ao potencial de aplicação das macroalgas numa série de produtos e indústrias. The sargassum harvest is an immemorial activity, complementary to agricultural activity, which involves collecting and drying macroalgae to fertilise the soil. Before the widespread application of chemical fertilisers, rural populations also engaged in this agromaritime activity, considered one of the most effective ways to fertilise the soil. The increased demand for this natural resource for agricultural purposes led to a growing population flow around it and to people gradually moving closer to the coastline. Being a connection between the land and sea, sargassum harvest contributed significantly to the formation of coastal settlements on the northern coast of Portugal over the centuries, because, despite its agricultural motivations, the activity ended up developing, economically and socially, in close relationship with fishing activity. In this sense, the present research has as its central subject of study the cultural dynamics around the sargassum harvest in the fishing community of Angeiras, part of village of Lavra, in Matosinhos. The financial instability and the lack of living and working conditions in this region contributed to the gradual formation of coastal settlements, whose consolidation depended, significantly, on the exploitation of fishery resources. The diversity of sociological profiles at its origin contributed to the formation of a sociologically hybrid community, whose identity is linked to the relationships established between land and sea. Thus, using an ethnographic and visual analysis methodology, this research aims to reflect on the process of identity construction of the fishing community of Angeiras and the role of the sargassum harvest in the simultaneously agricultural and maritime nature of its people. Detainers of a remarkable material and immaterial cultural heritage, it becomes essential to understand its technical, social and economic past in order to try to decode a shared way of life whose habits, objects, behaviours, gender politics, knowledge and traditions, which represent specific processes of practical and symbolic appropriation of the "space" where the community interacts and develops. Furthermore, in the attempt to prevent the current scenario of waste and unusability of the sargassum on the portuguese coast, alternatives and innovative solutions are explored for sargassum’s utility, analising potential application of macroalgae in several products and industries.     Authors: Fernandes, Lara Rita Oliveira Vieira; Martins, Manuela; Ribeiro, Maria do Carmo Franco;

    Os estudos realizados sobre as dinâmicas económicas de Portugal em época moderna, e em especial aqueles que abordam os materiais cerâmicos, são ainda algo deficitários. Com efeito, os trabalhos realizados nas últimas décadas, na sua maioria, dedicam-se à sistematização da produção de olarias e fábricas, ou ao consumo desses objetos, seja em instituições políticas ou religiosas, seja a partir de intervenções parcelares realizadas em centros urbanos. Da mesma forma, a situação em Braga é semelhante, faltando um estudo sobre os processos económicos e sociais em época moderna que realize uma síntese dos padrões de consumo do material cerâmico na efervescente cidade pós-medieval. Assim procuramos com a investigação que temos vindo a realizar, dos materiais identificados em várias intervenções arqueológicas em Braga, colmatar este vazio. Neste trabalho procuramos apresentar o material cerâmico de época moderna, identificado na escavação realizada pela Unidade de Arqueologia da Universidade do Minho, no edifício n.º 20-28 da rua Afonso Henriques e n.º 1-3 da rua de Santo António das Travessas, através de uma abordagem tecnológica destes materiais, de forma a realizar uma primeira abordagem da variabilidade formal e produtiva, entre os séculos XVI e XVIII, na cidade de Braga, centrando-nos nas produções comuns e vidradas. The studies undertaken on the economic dynamics of Portugal in the modern period, and especially those dealing with ceramic materials, are still somewhat lacking. In fact, most of the work carried out in recent decades has been dedicated to systematising the production of the workshops and factories, or the consumption of these objects, whether in political or religious institutions, or from piecemeal interventions in urban centres. In the same way, the situation in Braga is similar, lacking a study of economic and social processes in the modern period that would synthesize the consumption patterns of pottery in the effervescent post-medieval city. With the research we have been carrying out on materials identified in various archaeological interventions in Braga, we have tried to fill this gap. In this work we try to present the modern period pottery identified in the excavations made by the Archaeology Unit of the University of Minho, in the building numbers 20-28 of the Afonso Henriques Street and numbers 1-3 of the Santo António das Travessas Street, through a technological approach of these materials, in order to make a first approach to the formal and productive variability between the 16th and 18th centuries in the city of Braga, focusing on common wares and glazed wares productions.

    A resolução de problemas no âmbito de um domínio específico pode adotar técnicas e ideologias distintas. Para tal, é vital e imperativo elaborar uma análise contextual a todos os elementos pertencentes à teia de relações entre conceitos. Nesse sentido, o uso de uma ontologia permite construir uma rede semântica, no qual a mais importante premissa é a correta identificação dos conceitos e respetivos atributos. A automatização do processo de extração de ontologias permite construir ontologias mais escaláveis e uniformes, extraindo conhecimento assente nas mesmas premissas e padrões. No plano geral, uma extração automática facilita a análise e a leitura de informação de um problema apresentado numa linguagem própria. O trabalho desta dissertação focou-se na extração de conhecimento em textos não estruturados, mais concretamente, textos de culinária, com o intuito de disponibilizar uma ontologia que espelhasse o conhecimento interligado entre receitas. O verdadeiro desafio passa pela correta identificação de termos relevantes, com base em análise sintática, semântica, e linguística em geral, e pela formalização de relações entre os mesmos. A utilização de mecanismos de controlo e de automatização permitiu a extração do conhecimento presente nos textos não estruturados. Estes mecanismos foram aplicados conforme as características linguísticas inerentes aos documentos e restrições de domínio. A ontologia gerada pode ser consultada através de uma plataforma web, na qual o utilizador pode pesquisar os documentos importados no sistema e analisar a interligação entre receitas através da pesquisa por termos e por hiperligações que se encontram nos detalhes de cada registo de culinária. The resolution of problems within a specific domain may adopt distinct approaches. As such, it is vital and imperative to elaborate a context analysis to each and every single existing element in the domain. For that matter, the use of an ontology allows the construction of a semantic environment where the most important factor is the correct identification of the concepts and its attributes. The automation of the whole process enables the ability to create more scalable and sustainable ontologies while extracting knowledge based on the same premises and patterns. An automatic extraction eases the analysis and understading of the information presented in a problem, usually written in natural language. This dissertation takes focus on the knowledge extraction in unstructured texts — culinary texts to be precised — with the sole goal of generating an ontology that exposes the knowledge intertwined between recipes. The main challenge presents itself as identifying the correct relevant terms, based upon context analysis and linguistics, and formalizing the relations among them. Using the proper control and automation mechanisms ensure the best results when retrieving knowledge from unstructured texts. Those mechanisms are chosen regarding linguistic characteristics and the corpus domain. The generated ontology will be used as the backend of a web platform, where the user may search for the desired recipes imported in the system. Thus, the connection between recipes is highlighted when searching for a specific term and the hyperlinks embedded in recipe detailed information.     Authors: Carvalho, Ana Catarina Fernandes;

    Os territórios rurais encontram-se, cada vez mais, confrontados com os graduais efei tos do abandono. Caracterizados por localizarem-se na periferia de um centro extre mamente intensificado são deparados com as consequências da falta de integração de espaços degradados e carência de um planeamento territorial. A Região de Prado detém tais características e como tal o interesse por esta surgiu, assim como o caráter intrínseco do abandono ligado à indústria cerâmica. Desta for ma, neste projeto de investigação é analisada a indústria cerâmica que, em tempos, foi determinante na construção e consolidação de uma paisagem produtiva, auxiliada pela natureza do solo argiloso, onde a olaria pôde facilmente estabelecer-se em todas as freguesias da Região de Prado tornando-se, em pouco tempo, uma das indústrias mais promissoras do Minho. Com base no constituinte catalisador deste território – a argila – o trabalho de projeto rege-se a partir do entendimento deste recurso mineral no território, assim como os impactos e transformações que a sua extração causou na paisagem das Lagoas dos Carvalhinhos, desde a antiguidade até ao presente. Posto isto, o objetivo deste trabalho procura responder a problemas locais, promoven do as práticas culturais do território e providenciando um ambiente ecologicamente sustentável por meio do entendimento local. Através da aproximação ao abandono de paisagens extrativas e industriais, interpretando o seu valor patrimonial e de memó ria como meio de sugerir novas possibilidades. Rural territories are increasingly confronted with the gradual effects of abandonment. Characterised by being located on the periphery of an extremely intensified centre they are faced with the consequences of the lack of integration of degraded spaces and the lack of territorial planning. The Region of Prado holds such characteristics and as such the interest for this arose, as well as the intrinsic character of abandonment linked to the ceramic industry. In this way, in this research project is analysed the ceramic industry that, in times past, was determinant in the construction and consolidation of a productive landscape, aided by the nature of the clay soil, where the pottery could easily establish itself in all parishes of the Prado Region becoming, in a short time, one of the most promising industries of Minho. Based on the catalyst constituent of this territory - the clay - the project work is go verned from the understanding of this mineral resource in the territory, as well as the impacts and transformations that its extraction caused in the landscape of Lagoas dos Carvalhinhos, since antiquity until the present. Having said this, the aim of this work seeks to respond to local problems, promoting the territory’s cultural practices and providing an ecologically sustainable environment through local understanding. Through approaching the abandonment of extractive and industrial landscapes, interpreting their heritage and memory value as a means of suggesting new possibilities.     Authors: Lopes, Liliana Filipa Teixeira;

    Authors: Caçador, Ricardo Filipe Sousa;

    A importância da cozinha no espaço social da casa: um breve olhar sobre a sua história, será o tema deste trabalho. Considerando a cozinha como um espaço fundamental do habitar, nesta dissertação refletiu-se sobre a sua evolução e importância enquanto espaço social da casa. Este espaço tem uma história que remonta ao uso do fogo na casa. Com o passar do tempo, a cozinha foi-se transformando e evoluindo, adaptando-se às mudanças sociais e tecnológicas, até aos dias de hoje. Assim, este trabalho retoma a evolução histórica da cozinha na procura da excecionalidade deste espaço enquanto elemento estruturante da domesticidade. Com o passar dos séculos, a cozinha foi-se aproximando do núcleo central da casa e tornando-se fundamental na vida familiar, um espaço mais higiénico e seguro. Inicialmente considerado um espaço secundário e de “Serviço”, foi-se transformando gradualmente num espaço central e “Social.” Debruçando-nos, assim, sobre a arquitetura doméstica, analisámos o espaço da cozinha e os seus elementos, de modo a compreender o que motivou cada mudança, desde o século X até à atualidade. O cruzamento do terceiro capítulo com os anteriores foi fundamental para alcançar as conclusões do trabalho, sendo que as mudanças sociais, dentro e fora de casa, tiveram grande influência nos espaços do habitar. Em suma, ao compreender a importância da cozinha enquanto espaço nuclear da domesticidade, evidenciou-se o seu caráter catalisador, promotor de sociabilização, nem sempre existente ao longo da sua história. The importance of the kitchen in the social space of the home: a brief look at its history, will be the theme of this work. Considering the kitchen as a fundamental space for living, this dissertation reflects on its evolution and importance as a social space in the home. This space has a history that goes back to the use of fire in the house. Over time, the kitchen has been transformed and evolved, adapting to social and technological changes, until today. Thus, this paper resumes the historical evolution of the kitchen in the search for the exceptionality of this space as a structuring element of domesticity. Over the centuries, the kitchen has become closer to the central core of the home and has become fun damental in family life, a more hygienic and safer space. Initially considered a secondary and “Service” space, it gradually became a central and “Social” space. Focusing, thus, on domestic architecture, we analyzed the kitchen space and its elements, in order to understand what motivated each change, from the tenth century to the present day. The crossing of the third chapter with the previous ones was funda mental to reach the conclusions of the work, being that the social changes, inside and outside the home, had a great influence in the living spaces. In short, by understanding the importance of the kitchen as a nuclear space of domesticity, its catalytic character became evident, promoting socialization, not always existing throughout its history.     Authors: Miguel, Maria Inês Marques;

    Atualmente, a necessidade de ligar e relacionar dados de diversas fontes, vai sendo cada vez maior, e é aí que a Web Semântica vem dar uma solução. Essa solução consiste na utilização de Linked Open Data, que através da uniformização dos padrões e vocabulários utilizados, permite a sua interoperabilidade com outros dados. Neste projeto de investigação será utilizada a base de dados da Unidade de Arqueologia da Universidade do Minho. Atualmente os seus dados não estão disponíveis abertamente, dificultando a sua utilização por investigadores fora da Universidade. O objetivo é tornar alguns dados dessa base de dados em Linked Open Data, de forma a permitir que outros investigadores possam utilizá-los e relacioná-los com outros dados. Para a realização da revisão de leitura foi utilizado o método PRISMA. Esta revisão de leitura é necessária visto que é bastante importante ter uma boa base teórica de forma que todos os passos necessários à sua concretização sejam realizados de maneira correta. Com a revisão concluída, foram exploradas algumas ontologias, dando enfânse no CIDOC CRM, para perceber quais são as opções de modelos de estruturação de dados disponíveis e que poderão ser utilizados. Foram também explorados os conceitos base desta área, tais como o que é a Web Semântica e as suas componentes principais, tendo sido também explorado o que é um Linked (Open) Data. Em adição, foram explorados projetos semelhantes ao que este projeto de investigação pretende desenvolver, de forma a perceber que tecnologias foram utilizadas e se alguma será útil para a implementação neste projeto. É também explicado o método de investigação utilizado, o Design Science Resarch, e o método de criação de um Perfil de Aplicação, o Dublin Core Tabular Application Profile, um dos pontos fulcrais do projeto. Como resultados temos o Perfil de Aplicação criado no âmbito deste projeto, os dados transformados para RDF e inseridos num triplestore, um esquema de classes e propriedades e um vocabulário controlado codificado em SKOS. Este projeto torna-se bastante útil para quem pretender transformar dados arqueológicos em Linked Data, pois são especificados todos os passos tomados no seu desenvolvimento. Currently, the need to link and relate data from various sources is increasing, and that is where the Semantic Web comes to provide a solution. This solution is the use of Linked Open Data, which through the standardization of standards and vocabularies used, allows its interoperability with other data. In this research project, the database of the Archaeology Unit of the University of Minho will be used. Currently, its data is not openly available, making its use by researchers outside the University difficult. The goal is to make some data from this database Linked Open Data, to allow other researchers to use it and relate it with other data. The PRISMA method was used to conduct the reading review. This reading review is necessary, since it is quite important to have a good theoretical base, so that all the steps needed to accomplish it are done correctly. With the review completed, some ontologies were explored, focusing on CIDOC CRM, to understand what options of data structuring models are available and that could be used. The basic concepts of this area were also explored, such as what is the Semantic Web and its main components, and what is Linked (Open) Data. In addition, similar projects to the one that this research project intends to develop were explored, to understand what technologies were used and if any will be useful and a potential implementation on this project. The research method used, Design Science Research, is also explained, as well as the method of creating an Application Profile, the Dublin Core Tabular Application Profile, one of the project’s focal points. As results we have the Application Profile that was created within this project, the data transformed to RDF and inserted into a triplestore, a schema of classes and properties and a controlled vocabulary encoded in SKOS. This project becomes very useful for those who intend to transform archaeological data into Linked Data, because all the steps taken in its development are specified.     Authors: Santos, Filipa Rodrigues Dias Ferreira dos;

    A apanha do sargaço constitui uma atividade imemorial, complementar à atividade agrícola, que pressupõe a recolha e secagem das macroalgas para fertilização das colheitas. Antes da aplicação generalizada dos adubos químicos, as populações rurais dedicavam-se também a esta faina agromarítima, considerada uma das formas mais eficazes de fertilização da terra. O incremento da procura deste recurso natural para fins agrícolas deu origem a um fluxo populacional crescente em seu torno e a uma aproximação gradual das gentes para junto da linha da costa. Enquanto elemento de ligação entre o espaço terrestre e marítimo, a recolha de sargaço contribuiu significativamente para a formação e fixação de aglomerados costeiros no litoral Norte português ao longo dos séculos, visto que apesar das suas motivações agrícolas, a atividade acabou por se desenvolver, económica e socialmente, em estreita relação com a atividade piscatória. Neste sentido, a presente investigação tem como objeto central de estudo as dinâmicas culturais em torno da atividade sargaceira na comunidade piscatória de Angeiras, pertencente à freguesia de Lavra, no município de Matosinhos. A instabilidade financeira e a falta de condições de vida e trabalho na região contribuíram para a formação gradual de aglomerados costeiros, cuja consolidação dependeu, significativamente, da exploração dos recursos haliêuticos. A diversidade de perfis sociológicos que estão na sua origem contribuíram para a formação de uma comunidade sociologicamente híbrida, cuja identidade é indissociável das relações estabelecidas entre a terra e o mar. Assim, com recurso a uma metodologia etnográfica e visual de análise, a presente investigação visa refletir acerca do processo de construção identitária da comunidade piscatória de Angeiras e do papel da prática sargaceira na dupla natureza agrícola e marítima das suas gentes. Detentores de um património cultural material e imaterial notável, torna-se essencial compreender o seu passado técnico, social e económico de modo a tentar descodificar um modo de vida partilhado cujos hábitos, objetos, comportamentos, políticas de género, saberes e tradições contribuem, conjuntamente, para dar conta de processos específicos de apropriação prática e simbólica do “espaço” onde a comunidade interage e se desenvolve. Para além disso, na tentativa de contrariar o atual cenário de desperdício e inutilização do sargaço que abrange a costa portuguesa, exploram-se soluções alternativas e inovadoras para o seu destino, atendendo ao potencial de aplicação das macroalgas numa série de produtos e indústrias. The sargassum harvest is an immemorial activity, complementary to agricultural activity, which involves collecting and drying macroalgae to fertilise the soil. Before the widespread application of chemical fertilisers, rural populations also engaged in this agromaritime activity, considered one of the most effective ways to fertilise the soil. The increased demand for this natural resource for agricultural purposes led to a growing population flow around it and to people gradually moving closer to the coastline. Being a connection between the land and sea, sargassum harvest contributed significantly to the formation of coastal settlements on the northern coast of Portugal over the centuries, because, despite its agricultural motivations, the activity ended up developing, economically and socially, in close relationship with fishing activity. In this sense, the present research has as its central subject of study the cultural dynamics around the sargassum harvest in the fishing community of Angeiras, part of village of Lavra, in Matosinhos. The financial instability and the lack of living and working conditions in this region contributed to the gradual formation of coastal settlements, whose consolidation depended, significantly, on the exploitation of fishery resources. The diversity of sociological profiles at its origin contributed to the formation of a sociologically hybrid community, whose identity is linked to the relationships established between land and sea. Thus, using an ethnographic and visual analysis methodology, this research aims to reflect on the process of identity construction of the fishing community of Angeiras and the role of the sargassum harvest in the simultaneously agricultural and maritime nature of its people. Detainers of a remarkable material and immaterial cultural heritage, it becomes essential to understand its technical, social and economic past in order to try to decode a shared way of life whose habits, objects, behaviours, gender politics, knowledge and traditions, which represent specific processes of practical and symbolic appropriation of the "space" where the community interacts and develops. Furthermore, in the attempt to prevent the current scenario of waste and unusability of the sargassum on the portuguese coast, alternatives and innovative solutions are explored for sargassum’s utility, analising potential application of macroalgae in several products and industries.     Authors: Fernandes, Lara Rita Oliveira Vieira; Martins, Manuela; Ribeiro, Maria do Carmo Franco;

    A resolução de problemas no âmbito de um domínio específico pode adotar técnicas e ideologias distintas. Para tal, é vital e imperativo elaborar uma análise contextual a todos os elementos pertencentes à teia de relações entre conceitos. Nesse sentido, o uso de uma ontologia permite construir uma rede semântica, no qual a mais importante premissa é a correta identificação dos conceitos e respetivos atributos. A automatização do processo de extração de ontologias permite construir ontologias mais escaláveis e uniformes, extraindo conhecimento assente nas mesmas premissas e padrões. No plano geral, uma extração automática facilita a análise e a leitura de informação de um problema apresentado numa linguagem própria. O trabalho desta dissertação focou-se na extração de conhecimento em textos não estruturados, mais concretamente, textos de culinária, com o intuito de disponibilizar uma ontologia que espelhasse o conhecimento interligado entre receitas. O verdadeiro desafio passa pela correta identificação de termos relevantes, com base em análise sintática, semântica, e linguística em geral, e pela formalização de relações entre os mesmos. A utilização de mecanismos de controlo e de automatização permitiu a extração do conhecimento presente nos textos não estruturados. Estes mecanismos foram aplicados conforme as características linguísticas inerentes aos documentos e restrições de domínio. A ontologia gerada pode ser consultada através de uma plataforma web, na qual o utilizador pode pesquisar os documentos importados no sistema e analisar a interligação entre receitas através da pesquisa por termos e por hiperligações que se encontram nos detalhes de cada registo de culinária. The resolution of problems within a specific domain may adopt distinct approaches. As such, it is vital and imperative to elaborate a context analysis to each and every single existing element in the domain. For that matter, the use of an ontology allows the construction of a semantic environment where the most important factor is the correct identification of the concepts and its attributes. The automation of the whole process enables the ability to create more scalable and sustainable ontologies while extracting knowledge based on the same premises and patterns. An automatic extraction eases the analysis and understading of the information presented in a problem, usually written in natural language. This dissertation takes focus on the knowledge extraction in unstructured texts — culinary texts to be precised — with the sole goal of generating an ontology that exposes the knowledge intertwined between recipes. The main challenge presents itself as identifying the correct relevant terms, based upon context analysis and linguistics, and formalizing the relations among them. Using the proper control and automation mechanisms ensure the best results when retrieving knowledge from unstructured texts. Those mechanisms are chosen regarding linguistic characteristics and the corpus domain. The generated ontology will be used as the backend of a web platform, where the user may search for the desired recipes imported in the system. Thus, the connection between recipes is highlighted when searching for a specific term and the hyperlinks embedded in recipe detailed information.
