    La ocupación de Uaxactun se estudió desde una perspectiva arqueológica durante casi cien años. Desafortunadamente, la comunidad contemporánea de Uaxactun fue más o menos invisible para muchos investigadores. Sin embargo, se realizaron algunos proyectos antropológicos por parte del Proyecto Regional Uaxactun (Podolinska, Čisárik 2015; Kováč 2019). Por otra parte el trabajo con la comunidad de Uaxactun ha sido una de las prioridades del proyecto desde el año 2009. La singularidad del sitio arqueológico de Uaxactún radica en el hecho de que en el territorio de las antiguas ruinas de Uaxactun, se puede encontrar un pueblo contemporáneo. La agricultura tradicional sigue siendo una parte importante de la localidad. Este hecho nos dio la oportunidad de observar técnicas tradicionales en lugares antiguos, para dar un paso en la comprensión de la continuidad del antiguo Uaxactun prehispánico.

    RESUMEN Objetivo: La construcción y funcionamiento de un proyecto de transformación urbana y territorial precisa de la participación de socios estratégicos, generar consensos y alianzas a largo plazo. De esta manera, este trabajo expone la realización de un análisis de los actores del sector agropecuario que permita identificar un conjunto de actores claves y anticipar sus posibles alianzas y conflictos en el largo plazo, y soporte la propuesta de un modelo de trabajo colaborativo. Metodología: Este trabajo sigue la metodología Mactor, el uso del software Mactor© versión 5.1.2-2003/2004, la revisión de la literatura de los artículos publicados en la base de datos Scopus con una ventana de tiempo abierta, y los aportes realizados por los aliados del proyecto Agrópolis Mactor resultantes de los talleres realizados. Resultados: Se identificaron nueve actores claves, de los cuales tres son catalogados de alto poder: cámaras de comercio, los medios de comunicación y el PNUD. Por su parte, el análisis del gráfico de divergencias entre actores evidencia la ausencia de oposiciones respecto al cumplimiento de los objetivos del sistema en estudio que conduce al establecimiento de posibles alianzas en torno al proyecto. Conclusiones: Existe una gran oportunidad de alineación por parte de los actores para la conformación de alianzas estratégicas que propicien la ejecución de proyectos en torno a la consecución de los objetivos del proyecto como un territorio innovador en temas asociados al sector del agro. ABSTRACT Objective: The construction and operation of a project of urban and territorial transformation requires the participation of strategic partners, generate consensus and long-term alliances. In this way, this work exposes the realization of an analysis of the actors of the agricultural sector that allows to identify a set of key actors and anticipate their possible alliances and conflicts in the long term, and supports the proposal of a collaborative work model. Methodology: This work follows the MACTOR methodology, the use of the MACTOR software© version 5.1.2-2003 / 2004, the review of the literature of the articles published in the SCOPUS database with an open time window, and the contributions made by the allies of the Agrópolis MACTOR project resulting from the workshops held. Results: 9 key actors were identified, of which 3 of them are listed as high-power actors and are: Chambers of Commerce, the Media, and UNDP. On the other hand, the analysis of the divergence between actors graph shows the absence of oppositions regarding the fulfilment of the objectives of the system under study that leads to the establishment of possible alliances around the project. Conclusions: There is a great opportunity for the actors to align for the creation of strategic alliances that promote the execution of projects around the achievement of the project objectives as an innovative territory on issues associated with the agricultural sector.     Resumen: Al igual que otras industrias creativas, la industria del libro está experimentando un cambio tecnológico, pasando de formatos analógicos a digitales. Este cambio desafía los modelos de negocio existentes e impulsa a las empresas a reexaminar sus carteras de productos y competencias. A través de un estudio de casos cualitativo de tres editoriales españolas, este trabajo investiga cómo la digitalización afecta a los modelos de negocio en la industria editorial. La funcionalidad y la experiencia del usuario de productos digitales aún son deficientes: los precios siguen siendo altos y la proporción de títulos digitales españoles es aún reducida. A todo esto, se añade la falta de un diseño dominante común para la publicación digital, lo que, en conjunto, representa una incertidumbre sustancial para los editores, que avanzan, paso a paso, hacia la era digital y cuya exploración de nuevas oportunidades de mercado y modelos de negocio alternativos sigue anclada en los tradicionales. Finalmente, el documento también analiza cómo las instituciones actuales contribuyen a preservar el régimen de publicación en papel. Abstract: Like other creative industries, the book industry is undergoing a technological change, going from analog to digital formats. This change challenges existing business models and encourages companies to reexamine their product and competency portfolios. Through a qualitative case study of three Spanish publishers, this paper investigates how digitization affects business models in the publishing industry. The functionality and user experience of digital products are still deficient: prices are still high, and the proportion of Spanish digital titles is still low. To all this is added the lack of a common dominant design for digital publishing, which on the whole, represents a substantial uncertainty for publishers, who are advancing, step by step, towards the digital age and whose exploration of new market opportunities and alternative business models remain anchored in the traditional ones. Finally, the document also analyzes how current institutions contribute to preserving the publication regime on paper.

    Resumen Introducción: los leiomiomas esofágicos son tumores benignos, que son resecados por enucleación esofágica cuando son mayores de 5 cm o en lesiones de cualquier tamaño que sean sintomáticos o sospechosos de malignidad. Tradicionalmente, se ha realizado la resección por técnica de enucleación abierta; sin embargo, la cirugía mínimamente invasiva ha surgido como una técnica con grandes ventajas y, en especial, la tecnología robótica parece ofrecer ventajas. Caso clínico: se reporta un caso de leiomioma esofágico del esófago medio con enucleación mediante el uso de una técnica toracoscópica asistida por robot. La esofagoscopia intraoperatoria y la transiluminación fueron complementos útiles para identificar el esófago y desarrollar un plano de disección extramucosa seguro, que junto con la asistencia robótica parecen minimizar los riesgos intraoperatorios, entre ellos, potencialmente la probabilidad de lesión mucosa, y mejoran el tiempo de recuperación postoperatoria. Abstract Introduction: Esophageal leiomyomas are benign tumors which are resected by esophageal enucleation when they are symptomatic, suspected of malignancy, or larger than 5 cm. Traditional resection uses the open enucleation technique, but minimally invasive surgery has emerged as a technique that has great advantages, especially when combined with robotic technology. Case report: We report a case of leiomyoma of the middle esophagus with treated with enucleation using a robotic-assisted thoracoscopic technique. Intraoperative esophagoscopy and transillumination were useful for identifying the esophagus and developing a plan of safe extra mucosal dissection. Together with robotic assistance this seems to minimize intraoperative risks including that of mucosal injury while also improving postoperative recovery time.

    El estudio tuvo por objetivo analizar el espacio físico del entorno doméstico y educativo de niñas y niños de educación inicial en el contexto rural, rurbano e indígena para proponer rutas que potencien factores de protección que promuevan un desarrollo óptimo. El Cantón de Turrialba fue la zona de estudio, el mismo presenta condiciones rurbanas, rurales e indígenas, por lo que se consideró el análisis de entornos físicos domésticos y educativos de niñez de educación inicial, en estos tres contextos. Como sujetos de información de la investigación se contemplaron la población docente y los grupos familiares de niñas y niños de nivel inicial que asistían a modalidades de atención infantil estatal de contextos: rural, rurbano e indígena del Cantón de Turrialba, que posibilitaron el acceso a los espacios físicos de las aulas de educación inicial y las casas del estudiantado. Para la determinación de l muestra del proceso investigativo, se eligió en forma aleatoria una comunidad en un distrito rural, una en uno rurbano y una del territorio indígena de Chirripó, que contaran con una sección de educación inicial del Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP). En este nivel se contactó un grupo familiar con disposición a participar en el estudio. En el caso de la etnia cabécar se seleccionaron personas bilingües, que hablaban fluidamente tanto el idioma cabécar como el español. Algunas de las conclusiones del estudio son las siguientes: • Es evidente que las personas que tienen a cargo la niñez tienen clara la responsabilidad de procurar bienestar infantil, sin embargo éste puede ser propiciado desde muchos ámbitos que inciden en el desarrollo integral, siendo uno de ellos el espacio físico, al cual no se le ha dado la importancia debida. • En el entorno doméstico a la necesidad fisiológica de descanso y sueño, se le estructura un espacio específico que es el dormitorio, el cual en algunos casos es compartido, generalmente es mediante la ambientación o decoración que se hace evidente la toma de decisiones en función de las niñas o niños que lo van a habitar. Las otras necesidades tales como alimentación, juego, movimiento, higiene entre otras, el infante debe satisfacerlas en áreas colectivas y estructuradas para personas adultas. • En el entorno doméstico en términos del espacio físico lo que prevalece es la atención de las necesidades fisiológicas sobre todo de descanso y sueño de las niñas y los niños. Se procura al margen de las posibilidades económicas que el dormitorio tenga ambientación, sin embargo no necesariamente este aposento cumple con las medidas requeridas de seguridad y de dimensión, ni con condiciones adecuadas de ventilación e iluminación. ABSTRACT: This study aimed to examine the educational and home environments of children in initial education in rural, urban and indigenous contexts to set out a path that improves safety in order to promote optimal development. Turrialba Canton was the area of study; it has rurban, rural and indigenous living conditions which is why the analysis of household and educational physical environments of children in initial education in these three contexts was considered. The research took into account as subjects of information the teaching population and families of children in initial education attending a form of State childcare of rural, rurban and indigenous contexts of Turrialba Canton, who made it possible to have access to the classroom of initial education and the homes of the student body. To determine the samples of the research process, a community in a rural district and another from an indigenous population from Chirripó were randomly selected both of which have an initial education section from the Ministry of Public Education (MEP). At this point, the family willing to participate in the study was contacted. In the case of the Cabécar ethnic group, bilingual people who are fluent in both Cabécar and Spanish were selected. Some of the conclusions of the study are the following: • It is evident that those in charge of children clearly know the responsibility of ensuring the well-being of a child, however, it can be promoted from many areas that affect an integral development, one of them being the physical environment which has not been given its due importance. • In the home environment, for the physiological need to rest and sleep, a specific space will be organized such as a bedroom, which in some cases is shared. Usually, it is through creating ambiance or decoration that the decision making process for the benefit of the children is evident. Other needs such as food, play, movement, hygiene, among others must be met by the child in collective and structured areas by adults. • In terms of physical space in the household, what prevails is the attention to the child's physiological needs above all rest and sleep. Aside from the economic means, it is sought for the bedroom to have ambiance, however, this room does not necessarily comply with the safety and dimensions measures nor with the adequate ventilation and lighting conditions.     Los teléfonos inteligentes y tabletas de hoy ofrecen capacidades de cómputo y almacenamiento atractivos, los cuales permiten una gran variedad de aplicaciones móviles con una gran funcionalidad. La integración de nuevas interfaces abre oportunidades para las nuevas aplicaciones. Estas aplicaciones requieren almacenamiento y procesamiento de datos en los teléfonos inteligentes. En este artículo se presenta el diseño e implementación de una aplicación, que tiene por finalidad llevar el registro del tiempo de trabajo real de las maquinarias. La aplicación "ForestTime" se programó en Eclipse bajo la interface de programación de aplicaciones de Android y siguiendo la metodología propuesta por la IUFRO. La aplicación permite a los usuarios medir el tiempo y rendimiento de las maquinarias forestales que deseen incorporar dentro de sus registros, asimismo permite a los usuarios exportar la base de datos generada y realizar posteriores análisis estadísticos acordes con los requerimientos de los interesados. La aplicación desarrollada en Android demuestra que los teléfonos inteligentes pueden traer beneficios a los ingenieros forestales a través del registro digital de datos para una gestión forestal oportuna y eficaz. Today's smartphones and tablets offer computing capabilities and storage attractiveness, which allow a variety of mobile applications with great functionality. Integrating new interfaces opens up new opportunities for new applications. These applications require storage and processing of data on smartphones. This article presents the design and implementation of an application, which aims at keeping records of actual working time of forestry machinery. The application was programmed in Eclipse under the application programming interface for Android, following the methodology proposed by IUFRO. The application allows users to measure performance over time and forestry machinery wishing to incorporate into their records, and also enables users to manipulate databases, performing statistical analyses after the requirements of stakeholders. The application on Android smartphones shows that it can bring the benefits Foresters through the digital recording of data for a timely and effective forest management.

    El objetivo del estudio fue desarrollar y evaluar una metodología de clasificación digital para la generación de cartografía temática en la Reserva Nacional Valdivia empleando imágenes multiespectrales Landsat TM. El procesamiento de la información satelital fue realizado mediante un método de clasificación supervisado aplicando un algoritmo de máxima probabilidad. La metodología propuesta pudo identificar cinco clases de cobertura correspondientes a: bosque adulto, renoval, plantación, matorral y pradera. La exactitud de la clasificación global fue de un 64%, mientras que la exactitud de la clasificación de tipos de cobertura forestal fue de un 77%. Los resultados obtenidos pueden ser considerados aceptables y mostraron ser promisorios para el mapeo preliminar de áreas cubiertas con bosque nativo. The objective of this study was to develop and evaluate a digital classification methodology for producing thematic cartography for the National Reserve in Valdivia using multispectral Landsat TM images. A supervised classification method with a maximum likelihood decision rule was selected for processing the satellite data. The proposed methodology permitted a separation of five different types of land uses, which corresponded to old native forest, secondary growth forest, plantation, shrub and grassland. Overall, the classification accuracy was about 64%, and the accuracy for the different forest types was about 77%. The results obtained can be considered acceptable, and are promising for the preliminary mapping of areas covered with native forests.

Con respecto a 1993, se puede afirmar que ha sido un año de consolidación de tales reformas y que paulatinamente se empiezan a materializar acciones novedosas que repercutirán, a muy corto plazo. en las relaciones del CATIE con los países miembros y con otras instituciones de carácter regional e internacional que tienen objetivos complementarios. Durante 1993 se terminó de estructurar el nuevo Plan Estratégico del Centro para la década comprendida entre el año 1993 y el año 2002, que ocupa un capítulo especial en este Informe. Una de las principales preocupaciones durante 1993 ha sido el hecho de que en el panorama de la cooperación internacional es previsible una disminución de los fondos disponibles para los próximos años, razón por la cual el CATIE inició acciones conducentes a innovar sus opciones de captación de recursos. Aprovechando la oportunidad brindada por la AID de dotar al Centro de un fideicomiso con fondos en moneda costarricense, se aprobó la creación de una Fundación denominada FUNDATROPICOS, con el objetivo de allegar fondos al presupuesto básico del CATIB.

    La ocupación de Uaxactun se estudió desde una perspectiva arqueológica durante casi cien años. Desafortunadamente, la comunidad contemporánea de Uaxactun fue más o menos invisible para muchos investigadores. Sin embargo, se realizaron algunos proyectos antropológicos por parte del Proyecto Regional Uaxactun (Podolinska, Čisárik 2015; Kováč 2019). Por otra parte el trabajo con la comunidad de Uaxactun ha sido una de las prioridades del proyecto desde el año 2009. La singularidad del sitio arqueológico de Uaxactún radica en el hecho de que en el territorio de las antiguas ruinas de Uaxactun, se puede encontrar un pueblo contemporáneo. La agricultura tradicional sigue siendo una parte importante de la localidad. Este hecho nos dio la oportunidad de observar técnicas tradicionales en lugares antiguos, para dar un paso en la comprensión de la continuidad del antiguo Uaxactun prehispánico.

    RESUMEN Objetivo: La construcción y funcionamiento de un proyecto de transformación urbana y territorial precisa de la participación de socios estratégicos, generar consensos y alianzas a largo plazo. De esta manera, este trabajo expone la realización de un análisis de los actores del sector agropecuario que permita identificar un conjunto de actores claves y anticipar sus posibles alianzas y conflictos en el largo plazo, y soporte la propuesta de un modelo de trabajo colaborativo. Metodología: Este trabajo sigue la metodología Mactor, el uso del software Mactor© versión 5.1.2-2003/2004, la revisión de la literatura de los artículos publicados en la base de datos Scopus con una ventana de tiempo abierta, y los aportes realizados por los aliados del proyecto Agrópolis Mactor resultantes de los talleres realizados. Resultados: Se identificaron nueve actores claves, de los cuales tres son catalogados de alto poder: cámaras de comercio, los medios de comunicación y el PNUD. Por su parte, el análisis del gráfico de divergencias entre actores evidencia la ausencia de oposiciones respecto al cumplimiento de los objetivos del sistema en estudio que conduce al establecimiento de posibles alianzas en torno al proyecto. Conclusiones: Existe una gran oportunidad de alineación por parte de los actores para la conformación de alianzas estratégicas que propicien la ejecución de proyectos en torno a la consecución de los objetivos del proyecto como un territorio innovador en temas asociados al sector del agro. ABSTRACT Objective: The construction and operation of a project of urban and territorial transformation requires the participation of strategic partners, generate consensus and long-term alliances. In this way, this work exposes the realization of an analysis of the actors of the agricultural sector that allows to identify a set of key actors and anticipate their possible alliances and conflicts in the long term, and supports the proposal of a collaborative work model. Methodology: This work follows the MACTOR methodology, the use of the MACTOR software© version 5.1.2-2003 / 2004, the review of the literature of the articles published in the SCOPUS database with an open time window, and the contributions made by the allies of the Agrópolis MACTOR project resulting from the workshops held. Results: 9 key actors were identified, of which 3 of them are listed as high-power actors and are: Chambers of Commerce, the Media, and UNDP. On the other hand, the analysis of the divergence between actors graph shows the absence of oppositions regarding the fulfilment of the objectives of the system under study that leads to the establishment of possible alliances around the project. Conclusions: There is a great opportunity for the actors to align for the creation of strategic alliances that promote the execution of projects around the achievement of the project objectives as an innovative territory on issues associated with the agricultural sector.     Resumen: Al igual que otras industrias creativas, la industria del libro está experimentando un cambio tecnológico, pasando de formatos analógicos a digitales. Este cambio desafía los modelos de negocio existentes e impulsa a las empresas a reexaminar sus carteras de productos y competencias. A través de un estudio de casos cualitativo de tres editoriales españolas, este trabajo investiga cómo la digitalización afecta a los modelos de negocio en la industria editorial. La funcionalidad y la experiencia del usuario de productos digitales aún son deficientes: los precios siguen siendo altos y la proporción de títulos digitales españoles es aún reducida. A todo esto, se añade la falta de un diseño dominante común para la publicación digital, lo que, en conjunto, representa una incertidumbre sustancial para los editores, que avanzan, paso a paso, hacia la era digital y cuya exploración de nuevas oportunidades de mercado y modelos de negocio alternativos sigue anclada en los tradicionales. Finalmente, el documento también analiza cómo las instituciones actuales contribuyen a preservar el régimen de publicación en papel. Abstract: Like other creative industries, the book industry is undergoing a technological change, going from analog to digital formats. This change challenges existing business models and encourages companies to reexamine their product and competency portfolios. Through a qualitative case study of three Spanish publishers, this paper investigates how digitization affects business models in the publishing industry. The functionality and user experience of digital products are still deficient: prices are still high, and the proportion of Spanish digital titles is still low. To all this is added the lack of a common dominant design for digital publishing, which on the whole, represents a substantial uncertainty for publishers, who are advancing, step by step, towards the digital age and whose exploration of new market opportunities and alternative business models remain anchored in the traditional ones. Finally, the document also analyzes how current institutions contribute to preserving the publication regime on paper.

    Resumen Introducción: los leiomiomas esofágicos son tumores benignos, que son resecados por enucleación esofágica cuando son mayores de 5 cm o en lesiones de cualquier tamaño que sean sintomáticos o sospechosos de malignidad. Tradicionalmente, se ha realizado la resección por técnica de enucleación abierta; sin embargo, la cirugía mínimamente invasiva ha surgido como una técnica con grandes ventajas y, en especial, la tecnología robótica parece ofrecer ventajas. Caso clínico: se reporta un caso de leiomioma esofágico del esófago medio con enucleación mediante el uso de una técnica toracoscópica asistida por robot. La esofagoscopia intraoperatoria y la transiluminación fueron complementos útiles para identificar el esófago y desarrollar un plano de disección extramucosa seguro, que junto con la asistencia robótica parecen minimizar los riesgos intraoperatorios, entre ellos, potencialmente la probabilidad de lesión mucosa, y mejoran el tiempo de recuperación postoperatoria. Abstract Introduction: Esophageal leiomyomas are benign tumors which are resected by esophageal enucleation when they are symptomatic, suspected of malignancy, or larger than 5 cm. Traditional resection uses the open enucleation technique, but minimally invasive surgery has emerged as a technique that has great advantages, especially when combined with robotic technology. Case report: We report a case of leiomyoma of the middle esophagus with treated with enucleation using a robotic-assisted thoracoscopic technique. Intraoperative esophagoscopy and transillumination were useful for identifying the esophagus and developing a plan of safe extra mucosal dissection. Together with robotic assistance this seems to minimize intraoperative risks including that of mucosal injury while also improving postoperative recovery time.

    El estudio tuvo por objetivo analizar el espacio físico del entorno doméstico y educativo de niñas y niños de educación inicial en el contexto rural, rurbano e indígena para proponer rutas que potencien factores de protección que promuevan un desarrollo óptimo. El Cantón de Turrialba fue la zona de estudio, el mismo presenta condiciones rurbanas, rurales e indígenas, por lo que se consideró el análisis de entornos físicos domésticos y educativos de niñez de educación inicial, en estos tres contextos. Como sujetos de información de la investigación se contemplaron la población docente y los grupos familiares de niñas y niños de nivel inicial que asistían a modalidades de atención infantil estatal de contextos: rural, rurbano e indígena del Cantón de Turrialba, que posibilitaron el acceso a los espacios físicos de las aulas de educación inicial y las casas del estudiantado. Para la determinación de l muestra del proceso investigativo, se eligió en forma aleatoria una comunidad en un distrito rural, una en uno rurbano y una del territorio indígena de Chirripó, que contaran con una sección de educación inicial del Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP). En este nivel se contactó un grupo familiar con disposición a participar en el estudio. En el caso de la etnia cabécar se seleccionaron personas bilingües, que hablaban fluidamente tanto el idioma cabécar como el español. Algunas de las conclusiones del estudio son las siguientes: • Es evidente que las personas que tienen a cargo la niñez tienen clara la responsabilidad de procurar bienestar infantil, sin embargo éste puede ser propiciado desde muchos ámbitos que inciden en el desarrollo integral, siendo uno de ellos el espacio físico, al cual no se le ha dado la importancia debida. • En el entorno doméstico a la necesidad fisiológica de descanso y sueño, se le estructura un espacio específico que es el dormitorio, el cual en algunos casos es compartido, generalmente es mediante la ambientación o decoración que se hace evidente la toma de decisiones en función de las niñas o niños que lo van a habitar. Las otras necesidades tales como alimentación, juego, movimiento, higiene entre otras, el infante debe satisfacerlas en áreas colectivas y estructuradas para personas adultas. • En el entorno doméstico en términos del espacio físico lo que prevalece es la atención de las necesidades fisiológicas sobre todo de descanso y sueño de las niñas y los niños. Se procura al margen de las posibilidades económicas que el dormitorio tenga ambientación, sin embargo no necesariamente este aposento cumple con las medidas requeridas de seguridad y de dimensión, ni con condiciones adecuadas de ventilación e iluminación. ABSTRACT: This study aimed to examine the educational and home environments of children in initial education in rural, urban and indigenous contexts to set out a path that improves safety in order to promote optimal development. Turrialba Canton was the area of study; it has rurban, rural and indigenous living conditions which is why the analysis of household and educational physical environments of children in initial education in these three contexts was considered. The research took into account as subjects of information the teaching population and families of children in initial education attending a form of State childcare of rural, rurban and indigenous contexts of Turrialba Canton, who made it possible to have access to the classroom of initial education and the homes of the student body. To determine the samples of the research process, a community in a rural district and another from an indigenous population from Chirripó were randomly selected both of which have an initial education section from the Ministry of Public Education (MEP). At this point, the family willing to participate in the study was contacted. In the case of the Cabécar ethnic group, bilingual people who are fluent in both Cabécar and Spanish were selected. Some of the conclusions of the study are the following: • It is evident that those in charge of children clearly know the responsibility of ensuring the well-being of a child, however, it can be promoted from many areas that affect an integral development, one of them being the physical environment which has not been given its due importance. • In the home environment, for the physiological need to rest and sleep, a specific space will be organized such as a bedroom, which in some cases is shared. Usually, it is through creating ambiance or decoration that the decision making process for the benefit of the children is evident. Other needs such as food, play, movement, hygiene, among others must be met by the child in collective and structured areas by adults. • In terms of physical space in the household, what prevails is the attention to the child's physiological needs above all rest and sleep. Aside from the economic means, it is sought for the bedroom to have ambiance, however, this room does not necessarily comply with the safety and dimensions measures nor with the adequate ventilation and lighting conditions.     Los teléfonos inteligentes y tabletas de hoy ofrecen capacidades de cómputo y almacenamiento atractivos, los cuales permiten una gran variedad de aplicaciones móviles con una gran funcionalidad. La integración de nuevas interfaces abre oportunidades para las nuevas aplicaciones. Estas aplicaciones requieren almacenamiento y procesamiento de datos en los teléfonos inteligentes. En este artículo se presenta el diseño e implementación de una aplicación, que tiene por finalidad llevar el registro del tiempo de trabajo real de las maquinarias. La aplicación "ForestTime" se programó en Eclipse bajo la interface de programación de aplicaciones de Android y siguiendo la metodología propuesta por la IUFRO. La aplicación permite a los usuarios medir el tiempo y rendimiento de las maquinarias forestales que deseen incorporar dentro de sus registros, asimismo permite a los usuarios exportar la base de datos generada y realizar posteriores análisis estadísticos acordes con los requerimientos de los interesados. La aplicación desarrollada en Android demuestra que los teléfonos inteligentes pueden traer beneficios a los ingenieros forestales a través del registro digital de datos para una gestión forestal oportuna y eficaz. Today's smartphones and tablets offer computing capabilities and storage attractiveness, which allow a variety of mobile applications with great functionality. Integrating new interfaces opens up new opportunities for new applications. These applications require storage and processing of data on smartphones. This article presents the design and implementation of an application, which aims at keeping records of actual working time of forestry machinery. The application was programmed in Eclipse under the application programming interface for Android, following the methodology proposed by IUFRO. The application allows users to measure performance over time and forestry machinery wishing to incorporate into their records, and also enables users to manipulate databases, performing statistical analyses after the requirements of stakeholders. The application on Android smartphones shows that it can bring the benefits Foresters through the digital recording of data for a timely and effective forest management.

    El objetivo del estudio fue desarrollar y evaluar una metodología de clasificación digital para la generación de cartografía temática en la Reserva Nacional Valdivia empleando imágenes multiespectrales Landsat TM. El procesamiento de la información satelital fue realizado mediante un método de clasificación supervisado aplicando un algoritmo de máxima probabilidad. La metodología propuesta pudo identificar cinco clases de cobertura correspondientes a: bosque adulto, renoval, plantación, matorral y pradera. La exactitud de la clasificación global fue de un 64%, mientras que la exactitud de la clasificación de tipos de cobertura forestal fue de un 77%. Los resultados obtenidos pueden ser considerados aceptables y mostraron ser promisorios para el mapeo preliminar de áreas cubiertas con bosque nativo. The objective of this study was to develop and evaluate a digital classification methodology for producing thematic cartography for the National Reserve in Valdivia using multispectral Landsat TM images. A supervised classification method with a maximum likelihood decision rule was selected for processing the satellite data. The proposed methodology permitted a separation of five different types of land uses, which corresponded to old native forest, secondary growth forest, plantation, shrub and grassland. Overall, the classification accuracy was about 64%, and the accuracy for the different forest types was about 77%. The results obtained can be considered acceptable, and are promising for the preliminary mapping of areas covered with native forests.

Bibliografía en las páginas 101-140 En la presentación del Informe Anual de 1992 se indicó que ese año marcaba el inicio de una. nueva etapa en la vida del CATIB, a la luz de las reformas a su Contrato Constitutivo aprobadas por la Junta Interamericana de Agricultura. Con respecto a 1993, se puede afirmar que ha sido un año de consolidación de tales reformas y que paulatinamente se empiezan a materializar acciones novedosas que repercutirán, a muy corto plazo. en las relaciones del CATIE con los países miembros y con otras instituciones de carácter regional e internacional que tienen objetivos complementarios. Durante 1993 se terminó de estructurar el nuevo Plan Estratégico del Centro para la década comprendida entre el año 1993 y el año 2002, que ocupa un capítulo especial en este Informe. Una de las principales preocupaciones durante 1993 ha sido el hecho de que en el panorama de la cooperación internacional es previsible una disminución de los fondos disponibles para los próximos años, razón por la cual el CATIE inició acciones conducentes a innovar sus opciones de captación de recursos. Aprovechando la oportunidad brindada por la AID de dotar al Centro de un fideicomiso con fondos en moneda costarricense, se aprobó la creación de una Fundación denominada FUNDATROPICOS, con el objetivo de allegar fondos al presupuesto básico del CATIB.
