    This deliverable presentsthe communication strategy and plan of the PoDIUM project. It describes the strategy that will be followed and the communication goals and objectives of the project to maximise the impact of the project’s communication. Together with this strategy, the PoDIUM communication plan that is detailed in this document will help achieve the strategic objectives pursued by the project. The communication plan identifies the audiences that will be targeted by the communication efforts, as well as key messages. It also presents the communication tools, channels, and activities that will be deployed throughout the project. The roles and responsibilities of the PoDIUM partners with regard to communication efforts are also outlined in this document.

    This deliverable presents the various communication tools of the PoDIUM project, their main features and how they will be used to support the PoDIUM communication strategy and plan and maximise the impact of the project’s communication. The tools that will be developed cover both electronic media and printed media. This ensures that the right type of communication materials is used depending on the communication or dissemination activity that is conducted. The tools at the disposal of the consortium include a website, a Twitter and LinkedIn page, a biannual newsletter, videos, a roll-up banner, flyers, and posters. All communication materials will be in line with the project’s brand identity to ensure the cohesive representation of PoDIUM.

    To improve the adherence of future R&I activities, Ben@Rail shall develop a framework based on a stakeholder analysis and technological inputs. To achieve the final goal of assessing the benefits of the stakeholders from future R&I activities, the technological inputs will in the final stage be compared and weighted against the stakeholder requirements. This will allow to verify the research priorities within the upcoming Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking (ERJU). This document provides a structured overview of the R&I objectives given by the research plans published by the European Rail Research Advisory Council (ERRAC) and the ERJU, and with this delivers the technical inputs for the comparison with the stakeholder requirements defined in Deliverable D1.1 “Simplified stakeholder tree and weighting matrix of requirements”. The objectives have been extracted from different documents, with a main focus on the “Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking Master Plan” (MP) and the “Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking Multi-Annual Work Programme” (MAWP). Additonal documents, published by other Shift2Rail research projects, like TER4RAIL and Mobility4EU, or representatives of other transport sectors, have been examined as well.

    This roadmap identifies policy recommendations for a desirable future for urban agriculture in 2050 based on policy reviews, interviews and workshops. In particular, this work assesses how and to what degree policy can be developed to create synergies between urban agriculture and cities’ food, energy and water nexus. This work is based on the existing policies in five city regions in France, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States. This report is designed for use by policy makers, public authorities and other stakeholders who want to support a shift towards an urban agriculture in which the nexus between food production, water and energy use, and social benefits is optimised. To construct scenarios for analysis, seven key factors were identified (from 24 original drivers emerging from analysis) and intersected with three potential trends (positive, negative and a continuation of the status quo). Recommendations in this roadmap are based on the most positive outcomes for urban agriculture, cities, and citizens.

    Authors: Langford, Dan; Parsons, Clive; Clement, Emma; Eriketti Servou;

    The transportation sector has been and will continue to undergo significant disruption for an extended period of time. The convergence of connectivity, computing power, and alternative energy vectors is driving this disruption. It is a time of opportunity, reinvention, and recreation. In only the last few years we have already seen an explosion in investment and accelerated pace of research and development based on the promise of automation. The sector is now in a period of consolidation regaining some balance but the pace of development is only increasing, tempered with some more realistic expectations. Automation in transportation, related infrastructure and operating environment impacts every other sector of industry and promises seemingly boundless opportunities for innovation, societal benefit, and commercial gain. The ICT Infrastructure for Connected and Automated Road Transport (ICT4CART) project has been launched to explore how the supporting infrastructure should seek to develop in the coming years and further develop an effective ICT infrastructure for enabling the wide scale roll-out of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs). ICT4CART aims to design, implement and test in real-life conditions a versatile ICT infrastructure for the needs of higher levels of vehicle automation. It focuses on four high-value use cases: Smart Parking & IoT services, dynamic adaptation of vehicle automation level based on infrastructure information, intersection crossing (urban) & lane merging (highway), and cross-border Interoperability. ICT4CART Task 8.4 Cost Analysis and Market Sustainability resulted in this report: D8.5 “Cost Analysis”. This report aims to present the available costs of each ICT4CART use case and a model for adoption, market acceptance and sustainability estimating the potential revenues. Complementary details of the business models, including barriers to entry, encompassing the ICT4CART use cases can be found in PU-access deliverable D9.10 “Business Models”. Section 1, states the task and the audience, Section 2, provides the background and context for the work. Section 3 details the exploration we have undertaken and approach to the research. Section 4, details the cost element that were available. Section 5, explores the customers, potential markets and pricing models for each of the use cases. Finally, Section 6 contains our conclusions regarding the sustainability of the ICT4CART use cases.

    Authors: Dan Langford;

    Connected vehicles are often referred to as ‘smartphones on wheels’1 or even a ‘sensor cluster on wheels’2 to describe how they may be used in the future as their driving function becomes more automated. Connectivity unlocks capability and unanticipated applications and features in what traditionally have been dumb devices. Connectivity and automation represent a significant disruption in transportation, resulting in opportunities for the development and application of connectivity-based products and services. This convergence of technologies also demands a recreation of the supporting sensor and communications infrastructure. While still relatively new, the market for automotive connectivity has progressed far enough to provide an indication of the types of data and information services that have short- and long-term applications. The value of many data services in terms of both value to users and revenue from the market will be amplified as the path to automation progresses. The disruption in transportation and the need for new data services provides fertile ground for new business models and opportunities for revenue generation. ICT4CART Task 9.5 Innovate Business Models resulted in this report: D9.10 “Business Models”. This report aims to guide the development of sustainable businesses based on connected and automated vehicle information services that may utilise the ICT4CART solution. This guidance has been achieved through research into the markets, value chains and the current state of the fast-growing industry resulting in the development of business model blueprints. Business model blueprints describe the types of business processes required to address the existing and future needs of connected and automated vehicles and their owners, operators and passengers. The business model blueprints are templates to which context can be added to finalise complete business models that form the basis of new businesses. Our approach analysed all potential information services and target markets based on CAV technologies' current and future implementation. The innovative business model blueprints detailed in this report provide the information to enable the four ICT4CART use cases and all 24 potential CAV services to be adapted into existing business models or used as the basis of the creation of completely new ones. Exploration of the business considerations for all foreseeable services needed to support CAVs resulted in the documentation of common business needs. The resulting service models were aggregated into logical groups to maximise customer and supplier relationships, core competencies, paths to market, general resource efficiencies and other synergies. The output is six innovative business model blueprints delivering suites of value added services to support CAVs now and in the future. The resulting business model blueprints include: 1. Government Authority: trustworthy and policy-based CAV Services for the benefit of all road users. 2. Core Safety: CAV Services that provide a level of safety anticipated to be required in all vehicles as standards and policy progress. 3. Digital Environment: CAV Services designed to enhance the real time detail of the temporal and spatial digital world beyond the immediate vicinity of vehicles. 4. Consumer Services: encompass the content and platforms for passengers to be entertained and productive while travelling. 5. Supplementary Services: enhance the core driving function to enable fleet level coordination operations. 6. Transferrable Services: are available in other industries but have an opportunity for application in CAVs. It was found that the application of CAV data services does not need to wait for autonomy. Most services explored have an immediate application in the marketplace that can generate data, knowledge and, most importantly, revenue for businesses in anticipation of autonomy. In many cases, there are already competitive products in the market. However, as the industry is embryonic, the opportunity remains significant for new market entrants. Most of the resulting business model blueprints have comparable or equivalent businesses operating in the market, but they are generally early versions of what they have the potential to become. It will be no surprise that realising their potential is constrained by standards, regulation and the pace of technology development and market adoption. Technology standards enable markets (Tiedemann, 2020), and the transportation market's appetite for innovation is insatiable. Regulation is there to reduce threats but faces the ‘pacing problem’ (Thierer , 2018), and technology outpaces everything. A PEST Analysis was conducted, and the Commercial Readiness Index was used to gauge the environmental considerations for each Business Model Blueprint. It is challenging to discern winners and losers across such a complicated range of variables, but it was apparent that the “Digital Environment” opportunity may have the most immediate and positive reception in the industry. This has likely been driven by the use of high definition maps in the development of autonomous vehicles. In contrast, “Core Safety” is still facing significant hurdles but could advance quickly with widereaching policy changes and standards ratification. The technical development of the ICT4CART project advances the state of the infrastructure needed to support these innovative businesses. This report provides a foundation and guidance for the development of innovative new businesses to deliver information services to the fast growing connected and automated vehicle market.

    The aim of the ICT4CART project is to design, implement and test a versatile ICT infrastructure in real-life conditions, which will enable the transition towards higher levels of automation. It focuses on four high-value use cases: Smart Parking & IoT services, dynamic adaptation of vehicle automation level based on infrastructure information, intersection crossing (urban) & lane merging (highway), and cross-border interoperability. These use cases serve one of the project’s main targets, which is to show that the proposed and implemented ICT infrastructure architecture is flexible, adaptable, and can serve the needs of various automated driving use cases (safety, comfort, etc.) with different requirements, across test sites with different capabilities. The ICT4CART use cases can be global or local, can be associated with network slices, can use Edge Clouds/Computing, can use different radio technologies and can be used everywhere (roaming aspect). They also consider mechanisms for cyber-security, authentication, integrity protection and privacy. For this purpose, four test sites are involved in ICT4CART, namely in Austria, in Germany, in Italy and a cross-border site at the Austrian-Italian borders. The main objective of WP8 is to evaluate the performance of the ICT4CART architecture through the proposed scenarios defined for each test site. This deliverable presents the results of the impact analysis, by assessing the value of the ICT4CART solution and use cases, paying particular attention to the end-user. The aim of the impact assessment as a process is to evaluate the project’s actions towards the road transport automation ecosystem. Unfortunately, due to the COVID pandemic, the consortium had to cancel all planned large scale and open to the public demonstration events. As such, only a few participants that were members of the ICT4CART consortium had the chance to participate in the evaluation events and provide their significant but rather limited to what expected feedback. In Section 1, the purpose of this document is described, as well as the audience it targets. In Section 2, a short validation of the project’s outcomes against the initial objectives is presented. Section 3, is dedicated to the project specific impact KPIs and how they were tackled during the project lifetime. Section 4, presents the potential long-term implicit impact of ICT4CART beyond its specific objectives towards different societal and environmental aspects. Section 5, provides a small summary towards the exploitation and extension of ICT4CART results by consortium members, whereas Section 6 presents the analysis of the small-scale questionnaire-based user acceptance. The questionnaire used is also presented. Lastly, Section 7 concludes the report.

    Context: Connected and automated vehicles are a key focal point of ITS research. To enable and accelerate their deployment in our everyday life, ICT is a prerequisite; this is the frame in which ICT4CART project places itself. Despite the significant advances in the telecom and IT industries, several ICT challenges related to connectivity, data management, cyber-security and ICT infrastructure architectures still exist, and need to be addressed to enable road vehicle automation. ICT4CART aimed to address the gaps to deployment, bringing together over 42 months key players from the automotive, telecom and IT industries to shape the ICT landscape for Connected and Automated Road Transport and to boost EU competitiveness and innovation in this area. Project scope ICT4CART’s main objective was to design, implement and test in real-life conditions a versatile ICT infrastructure that will enable the transition towards higher levels of automation (up to L4) by addressing existing gaps and working with specific key ICT elements, namely hybrid connectivity, data management, cyber-security, data privacy and accurate localisation. ICT4CART built on high-value use cases (urban and highway), which have been demonstrated and validated in real-life conditions at ICT4CART test sites in Austria, Germany and Italy (cfr.D7.3, D7.4, D7.5). Significant effort has been put into cross-border interoperability through the set-up of a separate test site at the Italian-Austrian border (cfr. D7.6). D9.7 Final report on communication, dissemination & liaison This document provides ICT4CART’s final report on communication, dissemination & liaison activities carried out by the whole consortium throughout the entirety of the project. It includes a detailed overview on all communication and dissemination actions that have been performed by the ICT4CART consortium from M1 until M42 (timeline moved from M36 to M42 due to the official extension obtained by the project), benchmarking the performances and the achievements of ICT4CART’s communication, dissemination and liaison’s efforts against the KPIs set in D9.1 (M6).

    In the frame of 5GMETA, Work Package 1 has the objective of organising the project management activities. The project contains contributions from a number of partners and individual activities requiring close coordination to ensure that Project Milestones and Deliverables are satisfactorily achieved. The activities related to the management of the Project will ensure the timely execution of the work plan, the proper communication between participants, the data management for the Project, the creation of reporting and quality control structures and procedures, the representation and communication with external entities, primarily the European Commission, and all activities related to administrative and financial aspects concerning funds and budget allocation. In particular, Task 1.1 is devoted to project management and technical coordination, and Task 1.5 is responsible for the Quality Management of the project and defining 5GMETA quality management system, including a set of methods, means and tools, as well as practical guidelines, aiming to ensure that the project work and results are of a uniform and high quality, that they meet the stated objectives and comply with the specifications set out in the Grant Agreement and the Consortium Agreement. The DoA describes this deliverable as “Handbook on project management, including best practices to be applied to coordinate partner activities, joint developments, and to define operating, quality and risk procedures”. It describes the processes with which all partners must comply.

    Authors: Langford, Dan; Parsons, Clive; Clement, Emma; Eriketti Servou;

    Authors: Dan Langford;
