On this probability space we consider a real valued G-semimartingale X. The purpose of this work is to study the following two problems: A. If X is F-adapted, compute the F-semimartingale characteristics of X in terms of the G-semimartingale characteristics of X. B. If X is a special G-semimartingale but not F-adapted, compute the F-semimartingale characteristics of the F-optional projection of X in terms of the G-canonical decomposition and the G-semimartingale characteristics of X. In this paper problem B is solved under the assumption that the filtration F is immersed in G. Beyond the obvious mathematical interest, our study is motivated by important practical applications in areas such as finance and insurance (cf. Structured Dependence Between Stochastic Processes (2020) Cambridge Univ. Press).

Vincent; Maciek Wielgus; Marek A. Abramowicz; Eric Gourgoulhon; Jean-Pierre Lasota; Thibaut Paumard; Guy Perrin;Context. The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) collaboration recently obtained first images of the surroundings of the supermassive compact object M87* at the center of the galaxy M87. Aims. We want to develop a simple analytic disk model for the accretion flow of M87*. Compared to general-relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (GRMHD) models, it has the advantage of being independent of the turbulent character of the flow, and controlled by only few easy-to-interpret, physically meaningful parameters. We want to use this model to predict the image of M87* assuming that it is either a Kerr black hole, or an alternative compact object. Methods. We compute the synchrotron emission from the disk model and propagate the resulting light rays to the far-away observer by means of relativistic ray tracing. Such computations are performed assuming different spacetimes (Kerr, Minkowski, non-rotating ultracompact star, rotating boson star or Lamy spinning wormhole). We perform numerical fits of these models to the EHT data. Results. We discuss the highly-lensed features of Kerr images and show that they are intrinsically linked to the accretion-flow properties, and not only to gravitation. This fact is illustrated by the notion of secondary ring that we introduce. Our model of spinning Kerr black hole predicts mass and orientation consistent with the EHT interpretation. The non-Kerr images result in similar quality of the numerical fits and may appear very similar to Kerr images, once blurred to the EHT resolution. This implies that a strong test of the Kerr spacetime may be out of reach with the current data. We notice that future developments of the EHT could alter this situation. Conclusions. Our results show the importance of studying alternatives to the Kerr spacetime in order to be able to test the Kerr paradigm unambiguously. 22 pages, 21 figures, accepted by A&A - see new Fig. 5

Here we describe the LifeTime Initiative, which aims to track, understand and target human cells during the onset and progression of complex diseases, and to analyse their response to therapy at single-cell resolution. This mission will be implemented through the development, integration and application of single-cell multi-omics and imaging, artificial intelligence and patient-derived experimental disease models during the progression from health to disease. The analysis of large molecular and clinical datasets will identify molecular mechanisms, create predictive computational models of disease progression, and reveal new drug targets and therapies. The timely detection and interception of disease embedded in an ethical and patient-centred vision will be achieved through interactions across academia, hospitals, patient associations, health data management systems and industry. The application of this strategy to key medical challenges in cancer, neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, and infectious, chronic inflammatory and cardiovascular diseases at the single-cell level will usher in cell-based interceptive medicine in Europe over the next decade. These original chiral dyes display intense electronic circular dichroism (ECD) and CP luminescence (CPL) in the far-red spectral region owing to the presence of excitonic coupling between achiral DPP within the chiral environment of the polymeric structure. This work affords an interesting example illustrating the potential of pi-conjugated helical polymers for chiral optoelectronic applications.Circularly polarized (CP) light has received renewed attention owing to its superior potential over unpolarized one in a diverse range of domains such as (chir)optoelectronics (stereoscopic displays, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), optical information processing, etc.) as well as in bio-imaging and chiral sensing

Aims/hypothesis MODY can be wrongly diagnosed as type 1 diabetes in children. We aimed to find the prevalence of MODY in a nationwide population-based registry of childhood diabetes. Methods Using next-generation sequencing, we screened the HNF1A, HNF4A, HNF1B, GCK and INS genes in all 469 children (12.1%) negative for both GAD and IA-2 autoantibodies and 469 antibody-positive matched controls selected from the Norwegian Childhood Diabetes Registry (3882 children). Variants were classified using clinical diagnostic criteria for pathogenicity ranging from class 1 (neutral) to class 5 (pathogenic). Results We identified 58 rare exonic and splice variants in cases and controls. Among antibody-negative patients, 6.5% had genetic variants of classes 3–5 (vs 2.4% in controls; p = 0.002). For the stricter classification (classes 4 and 5), the corresponding number was 4.1% (vs 0.2% in controls; p = 1.6 × 10−5). HNF1A showed the strongest enrichment of class 3–5 variants, with 3.9% among antibody-negative patients (vs 0.4% in controls; p = 0.0002). Antibody-negative carriers of variants in class 3 had a similar phenotype to those carrying variants in classes 4 and 5. Conclusions/interpretation This is the first study screening for MODY in all antibody-negative children in a nationwide population-based registry. Our results suggest that the prevalence of MODY in antibody-negative childhood diabetes may reach 6.5%. One-third of these MODY cases had not been recognised by clinicians. Since a precise diagnosis is important for treatment and genetic counselling, molecular screening of all antibody-negative children should be considered in routine diagnostics.

The measured cross sections on water, hydrocarbon, and iron are σH2OCC=(0.840±0.010(stat.)+0.10−0.08(syst.))×10−38cm2/nucleon, σCHCC=(0.817±0.007(stat.)+0.11−0.08(syst.))×10−38cm2/nucleon, and σFeCC=(0.859±0.003(stat.)+0.12−0.10(syst.))×10−38cm2/nucleon, respectively, for a restricted phase space of induced muons: θμ0.4 GeV/c in the laboratory frame. The measured cross section ratios are σH2OCC/σCHCC=1.028±0.016(stat.)±0.053(syst.), σFeCC/σH2OCC=1.023±0.012(stat.)±0.058(syst.), and σFeCC/σCHCC=1.049±0.010(stat.)±0.043(syst.). These results, with an unprecedented precision for the measurements of neutrino cross sections on water in the studied energy region, show good agreement with the current neutrino interaction models used in the T2K oscillation analyses. The influence of annealing temperature on the emission and absorption properties of these films was investigated by photoluminescence, photoluminescence decay and photoluminescence excitation measurements. An increase in the photo-luminescence intensity and photoluminescence decay time was observed upon annealing for the main 5 D 4-7 F 5 transition of Tb 3+ ions. This observation was attributed to decrease of the non-radiative recombination and increase of the number of excited Tb 3+ ions upon annealing. Moreover, high temperature annealing was found to shift the spectral position of absorption bands observed in the photoluminescence excitation spectra. In general, these excitation spectra were shown to have a rather complicated structure and were decomposed into three Gaussian bands. It was suggested that two of these excitation bands might be due to indirect excitation of Tb 3+ ions via defects and the third excitation band could be due to direct 4f-5d transition.

International audience; In the past two decades, increased production and usage of metallic nanoparticles (NPs) has inevitably increased their discharge into the different compartments of the environment, which ultimately paved the way for their uptake and accumulation in various trophic levels of the food chain. Due to these issues, several questions have been raised on the usage of NPs in everyday life and has become a matter of public health concern. Among the metallic NPs, Cu-based NPs have gained popularity due to their cost-effectiveness and multifarious promising uses. Several studies in the past represented the phytotoxicity of Cu-based NPs on plants. However, comprehensive knowledge is still lacking. Additionally, the impact of Cu-based NPs on soil organisms such as agriculturally important microbes, fungi, mycorrhiza, nematode, and earthworms are poorly studied. This review article critically analyses the literature data to achieve a more comprehensive knowledge on the toxicological profile of Cu-based NPs and increase our understanding of the effects of Cu-based NPs on aquatic and terrestrial plants as well as on soil microbial communities. The underlying mechanism of biotransformation of Cu-based NPs and the process of their penetration into plants has also been discussed herein. Overall, this review could provide valuable information to design rules and regulations for the safe disposal of Cu-based NPs into a sustainable environment.

We discuss observational and theoretical advancements that will play a pivotal role in realizing a strong program of cosmological searches for the identity of dark matter in the coming decade. Specifically, we focus on measurements of the cosmic-microwave-background anisotropy and spectral distortions, and tracers of structure (such as the Lyman-$\alpha$ forest, galaxies, and the cosmological 21-cm signal).
