    The global impact of severe acute respiratory syndrome COVID-19 has extended beyond physical health, significantly affecting mental well-being worldwide. Amid the pandemic's initial wave, COVID-19 patients exhibited symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and notably depressive symptoms. Alongside manifestations like delirium, confusion, agitation, and altered consciousness, prevalent mental health issues during the pandemic encompassed depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Individuals recovering from COVID-19 may face enduring psychiatric challenges post-hospital discharge, potentially linked to dopamine. Dopaminergic receptors might heighten the susceptibility of certain viruses to bind with the central nervous system, instigating viral encephalitis in the virus's early infection stages. Dopamine could also disrupt the human basal carotid body's respiratory response to hypoxia. Additionally, the virus could manipulate the immune system by elevating dopamine levels, facilitating viral entry. These findings emphasize the significance of considering dopamine's role in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of COVID-19 patients and those with diagnosed psychosis. Tailored interventions are crucial for individuals exhibiting distinctive features. Another intriguing aspect worthy of investigation is whether dopamine confers protection against COVID-19. This review article aims to elucidate the intricate relationship between the impactful COVID-19 pandemic and dopamine, shedding light on its potential implications and avenues for further exploration. Ağır akut solunum yolu sendromu COVID-19'un küresel etkisi, fiziksel sağlığın ötesine geçerek dünya çapında ruh sağlığını önemli ölçüde etkilemiştir. Pandeminin ilk dalgasının ortasında, COVID-19 hastaları travma sonrası stres bozukluğu ve özellikle depresif semptomlar sergilemiştir. Pandemi sırasında deliryum, konfüzyon, ajitasyon ve bilinç değişikliği gibi belirtilerin yanı sıra depresyon, anksiyete ve uykusuzluk gibi yaygın ruh sağlığı sorunları da ortaya çıkmıştır. COVID-19'dan iyileşen bireyler, hastaneden taburcu olduktan sonra, dopamine bağlı olması muhtemel kalıcı psikiyatrik zorluklarla karşılaşabilirler. Dopaminerjik reseptörler, belirli virüslerin merkezi sinir sistemine bağlanma duyarlılığını artırarak virüsün erken enfeksiyon aşamalarında viral ensefaliti tetikleyebilir. Dopamin ayrıca insan bazal karotis cisimciğinin hipoksiye karşı solunum tepkisini de bozabilir. Ayrıca virüs, dopamin düzeylerini yükselterek bağışıklık sistemini etkileyebilir ve viral girişi kolaylaştırabilir. Bu bulgular, COVID-19 hastalarının ve psikoz teşhisi konmuş kişilerin tanı, tedavi ve bakımında dopaminin rolünün dikkate alınmasının önemini vurgulamaktadır. Ayırt edici özellikler sergileyen bireylere özgü müdahalelerde bulunulması çok önemlidir. Araştırmaya değer bir başka ilgi çekici konu da dopaminin COVID-19'a karşı koruma sağlayıp sağlamadığıdır. Bu derlemede, Covid-19 salgını ile dopamin arasındaki karmaşık ilişkinin aydınlatılması, potansiyel sonuçlarına ve daha fazla araştırmaya yönelik olası noktalara ışık tutulması amaçlanmaktadır.

    Belirsizlik sosyal yaşamın kaçınılmaz bir parçası olarak hertoplumun ve bireyin deneyimlediği çok boyutlu bir kavramdır. İlgili alanyazınincelendiğinde, belirsizlikle ilgili değişkenlerin depresyon, anksiyete, travmasonrası stres bozukluğu gibi psikolojik yapıların artmasıyla pozitif ilişkilerbarındırdığı görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada özellikle COVID-19 pandemisi sonrasıgörünürlüğünün artması beklenen belirsizliğin üniversite eğitimlerine devameden Türk ve Fransız öğrenciler tarafından ne derece algılandığı ve bu algınınilişkilendiği kimi psikolojik değişkenlerde olası kültürel farklılıklarincelenmek istenmiştir. Bu amaçla Türkiye (N = 421) ve Fransa’da (N = 391)eğitimine devam eden öğrencilerden veri toplaması eş zamanlı olarakgerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler tek bir veri setinde birleştirilerekörneklem grupları iki kategorili değişken olarak kodlanmıştır. Üniversiteöğrencilerinin algıladıkları belirsizlik düzeyinin, belirsizliğetahammülsüzlükleri, yaygın psikolojik sağlık yapıları olarak değerlendirilen depresyon,anksiyete ve stres düzeyleri ile ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Ayrıca algılananbelirsizlik düzeyi ve yaygın psikolojik sağlık yapıları arasındaki ilişkiyebelirsizliğe tahammülsüzlük düzeyinin aracılık edip etmediği ve bu ilişkileriniki kültürel grupta farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı test edilmiştir. Elde edilensonuçlara göre belirsizliğe tahammülsüzlüğün algılanan belirsizlik ve yaygınpsikolojik sağlık yapıları arasındaki ilişkiye anlamlı ve kısmi bir aracılıkettiği gözlemlenmiştir. Ancak bu aracılık modeli Türkiye ve Fransaörneklemlerinde anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir. Dolayısıylabelirsizliğe verilen tepkilerin kültürel olarak Türkiye ve Fransız örneklemleriiçin farklılaşmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen bu özgün bulgular alanyazındanyola çıkarak tartışılmıştır.

    Introduction:: Although the number of studies conducted among pregnant women with coronavirus (COVID-19) is increasing rapidly, most of the studies are small-scale. Accordingly, data on the relationship between COVID-19 and pregnancy are limited. In addition, there is limited information about which complications COVID-19 causes in pregnant women compared to the normal population, and at what rates. This meta-analysis aimed to examine the data of studies and meta-analyses on pregnancies with COVID-19, and to determine the complication rates caused by COVID-19 in pregnancies. Methods: Clinical, observational, or cohort studies published (or epub ahead of print) between January 2020 and December 2021 in any language were scanned in PubMed and Google Scholar. While scanning, the combinations of the terms “COVID-19”, “SARS-CoV-2”, “coronavirus”, “pregnancy”, “PROM”, or “preterm birth” were used. Results: A total of 52 articles and data on 11088 pregnant women were included in the meta-analysis after the screening of 6166 studies. In addition, data belonging to 10 meta-analyses were examined in order to obtain additional information. In the studies covered by this meta-analysis, the rate of premature rupture of membranes was found in 16.8%; preterm birth in 10.3%; low birth weight newborns in 9.2%; maternal or fetal mortality in 3.0%, and other adverse outcomes (fetal distress or abnormal APGAR score, abortion, etc.) in 17.5%. The vertical contamination rate was found to be 2.1%. Conclusion: The findings obtained in this meta-analysis show that COVID-19 significantly increases the maternal or fetal mortality rate in pregnant women and has a negative effect on the preterm birth rate. According to the data we have obtained, COVID-19 also causes the development of some complications, such as fetal distress. The findings also show that COVID-19 is transmitted vertically at a rate of around 2% during pregnancy.

    Aim: It was aimed to evaluate the opinions of 60+ Tazelenme University Antalya Campus students on the effects of the Distance Fresh Projects they participated on their social communication and interactions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: The sample of the quantitatively designed study consisted of 96 students of 60+ Tazelenme University Antalya Campus who participated in at least one program of their choice from the Distance Fresh Projects implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic and who volunteered to participate in the study. Data collection was carried out on-line through Google Forms on a voluntary basis, taking into account the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The questionnaire consists of 8 questions prepared and structured by the researchers after questions to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants. SPSS 23 package program was used to analyze the data obtained. Findings: In the study 76% of the participants were 65 years of age or older, 65.6% were married and 28.1% lived alone. The most striking finding among participants' answers to the questions was that 49% of the participants reported that they did not participate in the programs for socialization purposes other than their primary purpose, while a very high percentage (yespartially: 90.6%) responded positively to the question about the programs meeting their social communication and interaction needs. When the demographic data of the participants and their responses to the questions were analyzed, no significant difference was found between the groups. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Distance Fresh Projects offered on the digital platform by Antalya Campus of 60+ Tazelenme University contributed to the establishment of social communication-interaction and mutual learning process of the participants. When the elderly are exposed to social isolation due to the pandemic or any other reason, creating technology-based environments where they can socialize will be effective gerontological interventions.

    This study investigates the co-movement between the Twitter-based economic uncertainty index (TEU) and US energy stocks using the wavelet coherence method. The results reveal a homogenous negative co-movement of the TEU with the energy stocks, implying that a rise in TEU leads to declining energy stock prices. Nevertheless, a heterogeneous co-movement of the TEU with other sectors has been detected in the US market. Besides, the results reveal a positive and significant co-movement of the TEU with the Standard & Poor (S&P) 500 index over the medium and long-term horizons though the co-movement became more pronounced during COVID-19.

    Abstract: Molecular docking is a structure-based computational method that generates the binding pose and affinity between ligands and targets. There are many powerful docking programs. However, there is no single program that is suitable for every system. Hence, an appropriate program is chosen based on availability, need, and computer capacity. Molecular docking has clear steps that should be followed carefully to get a good result. : Molecular docking has many applications at various stages in drug discovery. Although it has various application areas, it is commonly applied in virtual screening and drug repurposing. As a result, it is playing a substantial role in the endeavor to discover a potent drug against COVID-19. There are also approved drugs in the pharmaceutical market that are developed through the use of molecular docking. As the accessible data is increasing and the method is advancing with the contribution of the latest computational developments, its use in drug discovery is also increasing. : Molecular docking has played a crucial role in making drug discovery faster, cheaper, and more effective. More advances in docking algorithms, integration with other computational methods, and the introduction of new approaches are expected. Thus, more applications that will make drug discovery easier are expected.

    Abstract: Vaccines are important to improve immunity against pathogens and diseases. The current COVID-19 disease is rapidly evolving and spreading among people; therefore, it is important to utilize a proper vaccination strategy against it. Currently, many approved vaccines are available and accessible; however, there is a reported hesitancy against taking them among the public and even the health care workers. Mainly, this is attributed to the fear of the possible side effects and complications. Moreover, inaccurate knowledge disseminated through the media/social media especially by those who lack proper expertise adds confusion and more fear that affects the vaccination decision. For such reasons, it is essential to find strategies to increase the acceptability of vaccines and to enhance confidence in the vaccination process. This should be accompanied by sufficient efforts and proper clinical studies to confirm the value and the safety of the vaccines. Those strategies are important to avoid the further spread of the COVID-19 disease and to abort the pandemic worldwide, especially when considering the likely approach towards a COVID-19 booster vaccination program, in which booster vaccines are re-taken along intervals to adequately contain the rapidly evolving nature of the virus. This review article highlights the factors influencing the acceptability of the COVID-19 vaccination and enrollment in clinical trials among the public and some specific populations. Furthermore, it summarizes the suggested strategies and recommendations that can improve the attitudes towards COVID-19 vaccination programs.

    COVID-19 has turned into a global pandemic since it was first detected in 2019, causing serious public health problems. Our objective was to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on pregnant women and newborns, who belong to the vulnerable segments of society. Our study involved the histopathological examination of placentas and umbilical cords from two groups of pregnant women. Group I consisted of pregnant women who had never tested positive for COVID-19 during their pregnancy (n: 20). Group II consisted of pregnant women who had contracted COVID-19, exhibited moderate and mild symptoms, and recovered from the disease before giving birth (n: 23). Furthermore, we employed immunofluorescence techniques to detect macrophage activity in the umbilical cord. Prenatal assessments were based on maternal complete blood counts and coagulation assays (n:40 in both groups). Newborn conditions were evaluated using birth weight, height, head circumference, and APGAR (n:40 in both groups). Our analyses reveal that COVID-19 causes placental and umbilical cord inflammation and maternal and foetal vascular malperfussion. Our immunofluorescence investigations demonstrate a notable increase in macrophage numbers and the macrophage-to-total cell ratio within the COVID-19 group. In this aspect, this study provides the initial report incorporating macrophage activity results from Warton's jelly in pregnants who have recovered from COVID-19. We have also ascertained that COVID-19 abbreviates gestation periods and concurrently diminishes maternal haemoglobin concentrations. Consequently, COVID-19 with mild and moderate symptoms during pregnancy, causes significant changes to the placenta and umbilical cord, but propitiously does not cause a significant difference in the neonatal outcomes.     It was aimed to investigate the active ingredients limonin, quercetin and kaempferol in propolis against SARS-CoV-2 main protease(MPro) using in silico methods. Absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADMET) screening of ligands assists US to state their absorption properties, toxicity, and drug-likeness. Ligand molecules obtained from PubChem in smiles format were loaded on SWISSADME and PROTOX-II webservers for ADMET screening. The three compounds in propolis were obtained from the PubChem database. Compounds were located at the active site of the SARS-CoV-2 MPro receptor with PDB ID:6LU7. Molecular docking work was done with Autodock program. Molecular docking results were found as -8.7 kcal/mol in limonin, -7.5 kcal/mol in quercetin and -7.7 kcal/mol in kaempferol. In silico ADMET estimation showed they have a potential for antiviral therapy. In conclusion, we thought that propolis active components limonin, quercetin and kaempferol have the potential to be a SARS CoV-2 MPro inhibitor.

    The global impact of severe acute respiratory syndrome COVID-19 has extended beyond physical health, significantly affecting mental well-being worldwide. Amid the pandemic's initial wave, COVID-19 patients exhibited symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and notably depressive symptoms. Alongside manifestations like delirium, confusion, agitation, and altered consciousness, prevalent mental health issues during the pandemic encompassed depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Individuals recovering from COVID-19 may face enduring psychiatric challenges post-hospital discharge, potentially linked to dopamine. Dopaminergic receptors might heighten the susceptibility of certain viruses to bind with the central nervous system, instigating viral encephalitis in the virus's early infection stages. Dopamine could also disrupt the human basal carotid body's respiratory response to hypoxia. Additionally, the virus could manipulate the immune system by elevating dopamine levels, facilitating viral entry. These findings emphasize the significance of considering dopamine's role in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of COVID-19 patients and those with diagnosed psychosis. Tailored interventions are crucial for individuals exhibiting distinctive features. Another intriguing aspect worthy of investigation is whether dopamine confers protection against COVID-19. This review article aims to elucidate the intricate relationship between the impactful COVID-19 pandemic and dopamine, shedding light on its potential implications and avenues for further exploration. Ağır akut solunum yolu sendromu COVID-19'un küresel etkisi, fiziksel sağlığın ötesine geçerek dünya çapında ruh sağlığını önemli ölçüde etkilemiştir. Pandeminin ilk dalgasının ortasında, COVID-19 hastaları travma sonrası stres bozukluğu ve özellikle depresif semptomlar sergilemiştir. Pandemi sırasında deliryum, konfüzyon, ajitasyon ve bilinç değişikliği gibi belirtilerin yanı sıra depresyon, anksiyete ve uykusuzluk gibi yaygın ruh sağlığı sorunları da ortaya çıkmıştır. COVID-19'dan iyileşen bireyler, hastaneden taburcu olduktan sonra, dopamine bağlı olması muhtemel kalıcı psikiyatrik zorluklarla karşılaşabilirler. Dopaminerjik reseptörler, belirli virüslerin merkezi sinir sistemine bağlanma duyarlılığını artırarak virüsün erken enfeksiyon aşamalarında viral ensefaliti tetikleyebilir. Dopamin ayrıca insan bazal karotis cisimciğinin hipoksiye karşı solunum tepkisini de bozabilir. Ayrıca virüs, dopamin düzeylerini yükselterek bağışıklık sistemini etkileyebilir ve viral girişi kolaylaştırabilir. Bu bulgular, COVID-19 hastalarının ve psikoz teşhisi konmuş kişilerin tanı, tedavi ve bakımında dopaminin rolünün dikkate alınmasının önemini vurgulamaktadır. Ayırt edici özellikler sergileyen bireylere özgü müdahalelerde bulunulması çok önemlidir. Araştırmaya değer bir başka ilgi çekici konu da dopaminin COVID-19'a karşı koruma sağlayıp sağlamadığıdır. Bu derlemede, Covid-19 salgını ile dopamin arasındaki karmaşık ilişkinin aydınlatılması, potansiyel sonuçlarına ve daha fazla araştırmaya yönelik olası noktalara ışık tutulması amaçlanmaktadır.

    Belirsizlik sosyal yaşamın kaçınılmaz bir parçası olarak hertoplumun ve bireyin deneyimlediği çok boyutlu bir kavramdır. İlgili alanyazınincelendiğinde, belirsizlikle ilgili değişkenlerin depresyon, anksiyete, travmasonrası stres bozukluğu gibi psikolojik yapıların artmasıyla pozitif ilişkilerbarındırdığı görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada özellikle COVID-19 pandemisi sonrasıgörünürlüğünün artması beklenen belirsizliğin üniversite eğitimlerine devameden Türk ve Fransız öğrenciler tarafından ne derece algılandığı ve bu algınınilişkilendiği kimi psikolojik değişkenlerde olası kültürel farklılıklarincelenmek istenmiştir. Bu amaçla Türkiye (N = 421) ve Fransa’da (N = 391)eğitimine devam eden öğrencilerden veri toplaması eş zamanlı olarakgerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler tek bir veri setinde birleştirilerekörneklem grupları iki kategorili değişken olarak kodlanmıştır. Üniversiteöğrencilerinin algıladıkları belirsizlik düzeyinin, belirsizliğetahammülsüzlükleri, yaygın psikolojik sağlık yapıları olarak değerlendirilen depresyon,anksiyete ve stres düzeyleri ile ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Ayrıca algılananbelirsizlik düzeyi ve yaygın psikolojik sağlık yapıları arasındaki ilişkiyebelirsizliğe tahammülsüzlük düzeyinin aracılık edip etmediği ve bu ilişkileriniki kültürel grupta farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı test edilmiştir. Elde edilensonuçlara göre belirsizliğe tahammülsüzlüğün algılanan belirsizlik ve yaygınpsikolojik sağlık yapıları arasındaki ilişkiye anlamlı ve kısmi bir aracılıkettiği gözlemlenmiştir. Ancak bu aracılık modeli Türkiye ve Fransaörneklemlerinde anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir. Dolayısıylabelirsizliğe verilen tepkilerin kültürel olarak Türkiye ve Fransız örneklemleriiçin farklılaşmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.     Introduction:: Although the number of studies conducted among pregnant women with coronavirus (COVID-19) is increasing rapidly, most of the studies are small-scale. Accordingly, data on the relationship between COVID-19 and pregnancy are limited. In addition, there is limited information about which complications COVID-19 causes in pregnant women compared to the normal population, and at what rates. This meta-analysis aimed to examine the data of studies and meta-analyses on pregnancies with COVID-19, and to determine the complication rates caused by COVID-19 in pregnancies. Methods: Clinical, observational, or cohort studies published (or epub ahead of print) between January 2020 and December 2021 in any language were scanned in PubMed and Google Scholar. While scanning, the combinations of the terms “COVID-19”, “SARS-CoV-2”, “coronavirus”, “pregnancy”, “PROM”, or “preterm birth” were used. Results: A total of 52 articles and data on 11088 pregnant women were included in the meta-analysis after the screening of 6166 studies. In addition, data belonging to 10 meta-analyses were examined in order to obtain additional information. In the studies covered by this meta-analysis, the rate of premature rupture of membranes was found in 16.8%; preterm birth in 10.3%; low birth weight newborns in 9.2%; maternal or fetal mortality in 3.0%, and other adverse outcomes (fetal distress or abnormal APGAR score, abortion, etc.) in 17.5%. The vertical contamination rate was found to be 2.1%. Conclusion: The findings obtained in this meta-analysis show that COVID-19 significantly increases the maternal or fetal mortality rate in pregnant women and has a negative effect on the preterm birth rate. According to the data we have obtained, COVID-19 also causes the development of some complications, such as fetal distress. The findings also show that COVID-19 is transmitted vertically at a rate of around 2% during pregnancy.

    Aim: It was aimed to evaluate the opinions of 60+ Tazelenme University Antalya Campus students on the effects of the Distance Fresh Projects they participated on their social communication and interactions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: The sample of the quantitatively designed study consisted of 96 students of 60+ Tazelenme University Antalya Campus who participated in at least one program of their choice from the Distance Fresh Projects implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic and who volunteered to participate in the study. Data collection was carried out on-line through Google Forms on a voluntary basis, taking into account the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The questionnaire consists of 8 questions prepared and structured by the researchers after questions to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants. SPSS 23 package program was used to analyze the data obtained. Findings: In the study 76% of the participants were 65 years of age or older, 65.6% were married and 28.1% lived alone. The most striking finding among participants' answers to the questions was that 49% of the participants reported that they did not participate in the programs for socialization purposes other than their primary purpose, while a very high percentage (yespartially: 90.6%) responded positively to the question about the programs meeting their social communication and interaction needs. When the demographic data of the participants and their responses to the questions were analyzed, no significant difference was found between the groups. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Distance Fresh Projects offered on the digital platform by Antalya Campus of 60+ Tazelenme University contributed to the establishment of social communication-interaction and mutual learning process of the participants. When the elderly are exposed to social isolation due to the pandemic or any other reason, creating technology-based environments where they can socialize will be effective gerontological interventions.

    This study investigates the co-movement between the Twitter-based economic uncertainty index (TEU) and US energy stocks using the wavelet coherence method. The results reveal a homogenous negative co-movement of the TEU with the energy stocks, implying that a rise in TEU leads to declining energy stock prices. Nevertheless, a heterogeneous co-movement of the TEU with other sectors has been detected in the US market. Besides, the results reveal a positive and significant co-movement of the TEU with the Standard & Poor (S&P) 500 index over the medium and long-term horizons though the co-movement became more pronounced during COVID-19.

    Abstract: Molecular docking is a structure-based computational method that generates the binding pose and affinity between ligands and targets. There are many powerful docking programs. However, there is no single program that is suitable for every system. Hence, an appropriate program is chosen based on availability, need, and computer capacity. Molecular docking has clear steps that should be followed carefully to get a good result. : Molecular docking has many applications at various stages in drug discovery. Although it has various application areas, it is commonly applied in virtual screening and drug repurposing. As a result, it is playing a substantial role in the endeavor to discover a potent drug against COVID-19. There are also approved drugs in the pharmaceutical market that are developed through the use of molecular docking. As the accessible data is increasing and the method is advancing with the contribution of the latest computational developments, its use in drug discovery is also increasing. : Molecular docking has played a crucial role in making drug discovery faster, cheaper, and more effective. More advances in docking algorithms, integration with other computational methods, and the introduction of new approaches are expected. Thus, more applications that will make drug discovery easier are expected.

    Abstract: Vaccines are important to improve immunity against pathogens and diseases. The current COVID-19 disease is rapidly evolving and spreading among people; therefore, it is important to utilize a proper vaccination strategy against it. Currently, many approved vaccines are available and accessible; however, there is a reported hesitancy against taking them among the public and even the health care workers. Mainly, this is attributed to the fear of the possible side effects and complications. Moreover, inaccurate knowledge disseminated through the media/social media especially by those who lack proper expertise adds confusion and more fear that affects the vaccination decision. For such reasons, it is essential to find strategies to increase the acceptability of vaccines and to enhance confidence in the vaccination process. This should be accompanied by sufficient efforts and proper clinical studies to confirm the value and the safety of the vaccines. Those strategies are important to avoid the further spread of the COVID-19 disease and to abort the pandemic worldwide, especially when considering the likely approach towards a COVID-19 booster vaccination program, in which booster vaccines are re-taken along intervals to adequately contain the rapidly evolving nature of the virus. This review article highlights the factors influencing the acceptability of the COVID-19 vaccination and enrollment in clinical trials among the public and some specific populations. Furthermore, it summarizes the suggested strategies and recommendations that can improve the attitudes towards COVID-19 vaccination programs.

    COVID-19 has turned into a global pandemic since it was first detected in 2019, causing serious public health problems. Our objective was to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on pregnant women and newborns, who belong to the vulnerable segments of society. Our study involved the histopathological examination of placentas and umbilical cords from two groups of pregnant women. Group I consisted of pregnant women who had never tested positive for COVID-19 during their pregnancy (n: 20). Group II consisted of pregnant women who had contracted COVID-19, exhibited moderate and mild symptoms, and recovered from the disease before giving birth (n: 23). Furthermore, we employed immunofluorescence techniques to detect macrophage activity in the umbilical cord. Prenatal assessments were based on maternal complete blood counts and coagulation assays (n:40 in both groups). Newborn conditions were evaluated using birth weight, height, head circumference, and APGAR (n:40 in both groups). Our analyses reveal that COVID-19 causes placental and umbilical cord inflammation and maternal and foetal vascular malperfussion. Our immunofluorescence investigations demonstrate a notable increase in macrophage numbers and the macrophage-to-total cell ratio within the COVID-19 group. In this aspect, this study provides the initial report incorporating macrophage activity results from Warton's jelly in pregnants who have recovered from COVID-19. We have also ascertained that COVID-19 abbreviates gestation periods and concurrently diminishes maternal haemoglobin concentrations. Consequently, COVID-19 with mild and moderate symptoms during pregnancy, causes significant changes to the placenta and umbilical cord, but propitiously does not cause a significant difference in the neonatal outcomes.     It was aimed to investigate the active ingredients limonin, quercetin and kaempferol in propolis against SARS-CoV-2 main protease(MPro) using in silico methods. Absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADMET) screening of ligands assists US to state their absorption properties, toxicity, and drug-likeness. Ligand molecules obtained from PubChem in smiles format were loaded on SWISSADME and PROTOX-II webservers for ADMET screening. The three compounds in propolis were obtained from the PubChem database. Compounds were located at the active site of the SARS-CoV-2 MPro receptor with PDB ID:6LU7. Molecular docking work was done with Autodock program. Molecular docking results were found as -8.7 kcal/mol in limonin, -7.5 kcal/mol in quercetin and -7.7 kcal/mol in kaempferol. In silico ADMET estimation showed they have a potential for antiviral therapy. In conclusion, we thought that propolis active components limonin, quercetin and kaempferol have the potential to be a SARS CoV-2 MPro inhibitor.
