Abstract: The present COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted that people, in the globalized society, have to face up to risks. This public health crisis has also revealed what type of risks workers have to face up to. This paper addresses economic and political transformations of globalization, starting from the global supply chain and the emergence of private authorities. From this point, this paper analyzes the protection of occupational safety in the Peruvian Criminal Code, considering a legal good derived from the concept of decent work that serves as a barrier to commercial exploitation in the globalized market. It emphasizes the employer as liable for avoiding risks produced from labor relations and how this liability works in the context of the COVID-19.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic sparked a considerable shift in commonplace life worldwide. Since the government of Zimbabwe declared a twenty-one day lockdown on the 30th March 2020, schools have only been allowed to open intermittently until March 2021. This has resulted in many schools adopting an online curriculum to enable children to continue with their syllabus uninterrupted. This study sought to explore the positive and negative experiences of families with children engaged in online learning, in an effort to equip parents with coping mechanisms for future lockdowns. A qualitative approach was conducted for this study, specifically making use of the document analysis design. Data was collected using interviews carried out over Zoom and WhatsApp social media platforms. Online learning presented challenges as well as opportunities for growth. The prime challenges were the inordinate amount of time children spent on their screens, the lack of social interaction with peers, lack of exercise and a tendency to snack on food throughout the day. The main positive experiences were family bonding time, parents’ newfound respect and appreciation for the role of teachers, the opportunity to engage in new hobbies, and learning to appreciate each day. This study highlights the need for practices such as mindfulness, a healthy diet, physical activity and understanding the tenets of resilience and positive psychology to aid with the challenges of online learning during a pandemic.

The rapid emergence of COVID-19 in the Spring of 2020 forced a majority of academic institutions, teachers, administrators, and students to precipitously move to online learning. In that sudden move, cloud-based video conferencing technology, allowing teachers and students to interact live with one another, became the technology of choice for many. The key factor that precipitated the move to video conferencing technology in schools was the ability to humanize online learning and provide a live visual link between teacher and students. This chapter describes each element of R2D2/C3PO, a research-based, validated, instructional design model, in-depth, providing generic examples of instructional strategies and learning activities for each element. The overarching objective of this article is to list and describe each model component, which are read, reflect, display, do, coaching, conviviality, critical incident questionnaire, planning, and organization, and then to provide detailed descriptions of constructivist instructional strategies and learning activities that can be used.

Dashboards use a suite of visual analytics, such as various forms of graphs (e.g., line graphs, histograms, bar charts, pie charts), maps, and infographics (e.g., gauges, traffic lights, meters, arrows) to display and communicate time series and spatial data. 1 Most contemporary dashboards are dynamic (i.e., being updated as data, including real-time data, are released) and interactive (e.g., allowing selecting, filtering, and querying data; zooming in or out, panning, and overlaying; changing type of visualization).2 The power and utility of dashboards is that they act as effective cognitive tools for making sense of and tracking voluminous, varied, and quickly transitioning data, enabling users to examine emerging patterns and trends and make evidence- informed decisions and policy responses.3,4 Consequently, dashboards have become common across sectors as a means to communicate, monitor, track, analyze, and act on large volumes of dynamic data.
