This paper examines the relationship between the media's representation of ethnic minorities during the covid-19 pandemic and nationalist tendencies in Danish politics. This is examined by analyzing how ethnic minorities are represented in Danish media coverage of increasing corona infection in the housing area Vollsmose, located in Odense, Denmark. Taking Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis approach combined with Høilund’s theory of The Right of Fear and Hallin’s theory of Spheres of the Journalistic World, this qualitative study analyzes 113 articles from eight Danish newspapers through thematic coding. The critical discourse analysis is structured according to Fairclough’s three-dimensional model, which divides the analysis into text, discursive practice and social practice. The analysis finds that the media draws on a nationalist discourse that is based on a concept of exclusion and divides the Danish society into “us” and “them”. The paper concludes that a nationalist discourse has gained hegemony in the media as well as the social and political structures of society. The media's representations of ethnic minorities during the covid-19 pandemic reproduces the same discourses as powerful political actors, thus contributing to the establishment of a nationalist discourse as a hegemonic discourse and strengthening nationalist political tendencies through fear of the covid-19 pandemic. Finally, the paper concludes that the media abandons the journalistic ideal of objectivity and critique by reproducing the same nationalist discourse as powerful political actors instead of challenging the attitudes, norms and values of prominent politicians. Thus, the media contributes to the creation and maintenance of unequal power relations, in which ethnic minorities are kept in a marginalized position.

COVID-19 pandemic has had an enormous impact on the aviation industry affecting everything from passengers to cargo, incoming revenues, and even other companies connected to this industry. The experts are expecting the recovery to take place in 2024, therefore, a long path lies ahead for everyone. This thesis focuses on the IT solution sector of the aviation industry with WorldTicket as the exemplifying case, where we examine the decision making process through a combination of Crisis Management, Bounded Rationality, and Contingency theories. The research was conducted with a Marketing Environment analytical framework which also functions as its structure. The data collection includes semi-structured interviews of WorldTicket’s management team and financial analysis that will add up to a richer conclusion. We concluded that WorldTicket successfully implemented strategic decisions corresponding to the crisis.

The focal point of this project is the current COVID-19 situation, and the campaign made by The Danish Health Authorities (DHA) focuses on the restrictions, specifically among young adults. This project aims to analyse to what extent the outcome of the meaning-making process of the audience matches with the DHA intended message of their campaign, “We can do it.” Both a quantitative- and qualitative approach was applied. Firstly a quantitative survey was conducted, and secondly, ten interviews were made. This questionnaire survey targeted a high number of responses, to collect a large sample of general thoughts towards the campaign, in order to analyse the general public’s understanding of the video campaign. Further, to analyse whether the effort from the DHA was influencing their target group of young adults between the ages of 15-29. In addition to the survey, a qualitative interview was conducted with volunteers who participated in the questionnaire. To understand the interviewee sense-making and decoding of the campaign, Stuart Hall’s encoding/decoding theory was used. This was done to get a better understanding of Kim Schrøder’s reception analysis. Both the reception analysis and the method of phenomenology was applied to examine the interviewees’ understandings and interpretations of the campaign who perceived the message as understandable and relevant. The discussion outlined the main understanding of the informants interviewed and their reception of the video’s message. Lastly, it discusses the limitations of the theories and methods used in this project. Based on the research conducted, we as researchers conclude that the interviews and the survey showed that the informants understand the campaign’s overall message, but each individual decodes the message differently.

The objective of this research project is to examine how three consultants working for EPICO, navigate through working at home, and in the workplace during the COVID-19 pandemic. The focus of this project then is the navigation and setting of borders between private life and of their work life. This is illuminated through the meaning that is subscribed to the consultant’s identities as it is understood by theories of Sensemaking by Karl Weick, as well as boundaries as presented by boundary theory and The Boundless. In analyzing the empirical evidence, the project utilizes a combination of social constructivism and phenomenology which, in combination with the theoretical framework, grants us a window into the inner world of the interviewees. This describes how different views of family, work, freetime and more allows for a deeper understanding of the process that is balancing life with more home-based work, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The project concludes that there is a substantial merging of private and work life for all interviewees. Though, several variations present themselves. This is explained by differences in, among others, age, experience in work and how the interviewed sees the home as a workspace in relation to theories of Sensemaking.

This paper aims to examine which discursive understandings high school students and teachershave towards online learning during the global pandemic Covid-19. The paper explains andseeks to understand which discourses regarding online learning rule amongst our informants.Based on Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis, this paper seeks to analyse whichdiscourses students and teachers have towards online learning. Through an analysis withHerbert Clark’s communication theory as well as Kurt Lewin’s Model of Change, this paperseeks to enlighten which positive or negative consequences online learning has for the students'learning. The empirical data in this paper consists of qualitative interviews with six high schoolstudents and one high school teacher, as well as a report by eVidenCenter and TænketankenDEA based on a quantitative questionnaire survey with more than 12.000 students and 1.800teachers.The examination leads to the conclusion that online learning has both positive and negativeconsequences for the students' learning outcome. Among these, the negative consequences aremost prominent. Furthermore, the hegemonic discourse amongst students and teachers isoverall negative.

This paper examines the effects of the covid-19 pandemics on the academic precariat in Denmark. The subject of this investigation is how the digitalization during the pandemic, has reshaped the experiences of academics in atypical forms of employment, whereas the research question is phrased as following: How can Hochschild’s theory of the time bind and Ihde’s philosophy of human-technology relations, be used to understand how academics in precarious forms of employment, experiences of time and working conditions were reshaped during the covid-19 pandemic in Denmark. The theoretical foundation of this paper combines Arlie Russel Hochschild's notions on work-life balance and Done Ihdes philosophy of technology, in order to comprehend the effects of the digital working format during the covid-19 lockdown periods. This thesis relates to the mixed- methods within the social science field. The design of the investigation has been developed in reference to the critical theory of philosophy and therefore utilizes a deductive combination of both quantitative and qualitative methods throughout this study. This paper concludes that the digital format has changed concepts of time and bodily perception of work. For the academic precariat, the effects are both acceleration and deceleration within their work and private life.

Our focus is primarily based on the psychological aspect of the catastrophe, and as such our included interviewees have not been directly affected with the virus, but rather the precautions enforced by the danish government. To determine if the COVID-19 pandemic is a catastrophe, we’ve included Atle Dyregrov’s thesis on ‘catastrophic psychology’ in which he defines different types of catastrophes, their plausible toll on the affected populations and the following psychological repercussion of those not necessarily directly affected by a catastrophe. Our interviewees have been chosen to reflect the different roles a restaurant employs, such as waiters, managers and owners; to better understand the depths of which the restrictions made by the government encases the lives of those mentioned. We’ve also included the trade association and employee organization Horesta for their comments and discussion on the subject. Both Hartmut Rosas theory on societal acceleration and Axel Honneths theory on acknowledgement are described and used as means of determining the state of the restaurant worker, in regards to the COVID-19 virus. In our State-of-the-art section we’ve included two prior theses’ on COVID-19 with different perspectives – These are in our analysis discussed and reflected upon in correlation with our own findings. The thesis concludes with an understanding of the effect of the COVID-19 and the danish government's restriction on the working people in the restaurant business, but it also reflects the undeniable possibility of a more serious psychological problem in our society for the coming future with stress levels being as potent as described in our analysis of the situation.

This thesis seeks to determine the state of the working people in the restaurant business in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
