Bocquet;Due to the current events related to Covid-19, the conference originally planned for July 2020 has been postponed to April 7-9, 2021.The conference will be organized virtually by videoconference. ORAL; International audience; In this paper, a study of UWB receivers in terms of detection theory is presented. The UWB radar which is presented in many works previously [1]-[3] has many applications. For road UWB radar application, the receiver based on correlation is the optimum receiver [4]. In fact, it maximizes the probability of detection. We will consider, in this study, a correlator receiver based on a threshold detection method. As in narrowband [5] [6], we will describe the theoretical study that evaluates the performance of the UWB receiver based on correlation in terms of detection and false alarm probabilities. Then a study of curves showing threshold receiver operating characteristics (ROC system), based on correlation and destined to be used for a UWB radar is presented. The study is original because it is presented for the first time in a UWB radar system.

Countries are experiencing a new wave of contamination and are witnessing spikes in the disease without being able to control its spread again. This paper aims to analyze the mortality rate related to the COVID-19 pandemic infection in Tunisia and to assess the effectiveness of health control policies. Data collection for this document was stopped on October, 31 st , 2020.

In this 6th edition of the workshop, we will be investigating in particular methods from technologies for education and online learning. Since the past few months, online and remote learning has been put in place in several countries to cope with the health and safety measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In this workshop, we aim to discuss strategies to design robotics system able to provide embodied assistance to the remote learners and to demonstrate long-term learning effects.

Le logiciel Seshat permet aux utilisateurs de facilement spécifier et gérer l'annotation de corpora d'audio conséquents, tout en s'assurant que les fichiers des annotations respectent des conventions de formattage et de nommage prédéfinies. En outre, des procédures de vérification du contenu des annotations sont livrées dans Seshat, avec la possibilité d'inclure des parsers externes. Finalement, nous proposons un mode dit de "double annotation", dans lequel Seshat calcule automatiquement une mesure de la concordance inter-annotateur avec la mesure γ, qui prend en compte les différences de catégorisation et de segmentation. We introduce Seshat, a new, simple and open-source software to efficiently manage annotations of speech corpora. The Seshat software allows users to easily customise and manage annotations of large audio corpora while ensuring compliance with the formatting and naming conventions of the annotated output files. In addition, it includes procedures for checking the content of annotations following specific rules that can be implemented in personalised parsers. Finally, we propose a double-annotation mode, for which Seshat computes automatically an associated inter-annotator agreement with the γ measure taking into account the categorisation and segmentation discrepancies.

International audience; The COVID-19 pandemic has thrust preprints into the spotlight, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages. The lack of peer review allows publication to occur with unprecedented speed, but this has raised concerns among biomedical scientists about the quality of the reported research. The study had three primary objectives in regard to COVID-19 preprints: 1. Test the feasibility of automatically and publicly evaluating preprints on a large scale; 2. Assess the prevalence of common quality problems in preprints; and 3. Compare the quality of preprints to published papers. While a substantial fraction (36.2%) of preprints addressed study limitations, the proportion that met other quality criteria was much lower, with only 20% addressing sex as a variable, ~14% sharing open code or data, 7.6% including non-colorblind safe images, and 7.3% showing misleading bar graphs. Both authors and non-authors interacted with the automated Tweets containing reports for preprints. This project shows that it is feasible to conduct large-scale automated screening of preprints for common quality criteria and provide feedback to study authors and readers before publication. These reports can publicly raise awareness about factors that affect study quality and reproducibility, while helping authors to present their research in a more transparent and reproducible manner.

Large gatherings are non-existent and everybody is at home. That’s 2020, today. Most countries have reduced social interactions to a minimum. Food markets, drugstores and gas stations remain open. But shopping malls, cinemas, coffee shops and pubs have closed their doors for the foreseeable future. The Covid-19 pandemic is among us, ready to strike the most vulnerable and sometimes also the healthy, rich and posh. Covid-19 impacts every social strata. This is a key difference between this disease and the plagues that have been taking lives in the peripheral countries for decades. Pulmonary and respiratory diseases are among the leading causes of death worldwide. But according to the WHO 1 (2018), the so-called Group I conditions (communicable diseases, maternal conditions arising during pregnancy and childbirth, and nutritional deficiencies) are particularly devastating among the low-income populations. Until today, music making has predominantly been done through face-to-face, synchronous interactions. While it is true that some forms of music making ⎼ for instance, studio post-production or karaoké ⎼ rely on resources that are prepared offline, the implicit target of musical activity is to make sound together, if possible in person and at the same time. The current pandemic has turned the traditional forms of music making into high-risk and in some cases potentially deadly activities. So is music making becoming an activity for a select elite, secluded from the mundane buzz and divorced from community exchanges, again? The answer from the ubimus community is a strong no!

Kim;Abstract While the COVID-19 pandemic has led to many disruptions in industrial value chains, the adoption of circular economy (CE) principles appears to be a commendable solution for more robust, resilient, and sustainable industrial supply chains. In this study, the standpoints and visions of two consecutive classes of engineering students – following the course “Circular Economy & Industrial Systems” at the Universite Paris-Saclay – are given on how they value CE strategies to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on industrial practices. Capturing and understanding the viewpoints of the engineers of tomorrow on such a pressing issue is key to train and provide them with the suitable methods and tools to build a more circular and sustainable society. At the end of their eight-week training class, including theoretical background on industrial ecology tools, workshops, and a hands-on project, part of the final exam included a one-hour essay in which the students had to argue their position on the following questions: (i) “Circular Economy as an answer to the COVID-19 crisis?” for the class of 2020, and (ii) “Circular Economy as an answer for green recovery and value chain resiliency in the COVID-19 context?” for the class of 2021. Interestingly, the evolution of viewpoints between the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis (exam conducted in May 2020 for the first class) and one year after (exam conducted in Mars 2021 for the second class) is discussed and illustrated. Also, the answers and insights provided by engineering students on these questions are positioned within the state-of-the-art literature on the topic. Last but not least, key recommendations and challenges on how CE could alleviate COVID-related disruptions and production shortages are synthesized in a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities) diagram.

Scheduling cycling therapies by targeting phenotypic states associated to specific mutations can help us to eradicate pathogenic variants in chronic infections. In this paper, we introduce a logistic switching model in order to abstract mutation networks of collateral resistance. We found particular conditions for which unstable zero-equilibrium of the logistic maps can be stabilized through a switching signal. That is, persistent populations can be eradicated through tailored switching regimens.Starting from an optimal-control formulation, the switching policies show their potential in the stabilization of the zero-equilibrium for dynamics governed by logistic maps. However, employing such switching strategies, deserve a specific characterization in terms of limit behaviour. Ultimately, we use evolutionary and control algorithms to find either optimal and sub-optimal switching policies. Simulations results show the applicability of Parrondo’s Paradox to design cycling therapies against drug resistance.

A biometric system can be attacked by presenting a biometric data to the capture subsystem with the goal of interfering it, that is called a presentation attack. Covid, panther, shadow monster and dragon are the investigated presentation attacks associated to the Doddington Zoo Menagerie (which classify users in different categories considering their performance behavior when using biometric systems). In this work, we examined the robustness of each genuine class of the biometric menagerie against the proposed presentation attacks. The achieved experiments are applied to the keystroke dynamics modality. Owing to the adaptive strategy, we depicted each genuine category that is most vulnerable to a specific presentation attack class. We find that the impact of covid, panther, shadow monster and dragon attempts are more pronounced when compared to chameleons, worms, doves and phantoms classes respectively. The obtained results, point out that adding imposter labels to Doddington zoo may lead to a better assessment of biometric authentication systems and promotes the interpretation of their performances.

Bocquet;Due to the current events related to Covid-19, the conference originally planned for July 2020 has been postponed to April 7-9, 2021.The conference will be organized virtually by videoconference. ORAL; International audience; In this paper, a study of UWB receivers in terms of detection theory is presented. The UWB radar which is presented in many works previously [1]-[3] has many applications. For road UWB radar application, the receiver based on correlation is the optimum receiver [4]. In fact, it maximizes the probability of detection. We will consider, in this study, a correlator receiver based on a threshold detection method. As in narrowband [5] [6], we will describe the theoretical study that evaluates the performance of the UWB receiver based on correlation in terms of detection and false alarm probabilities. Then a study of curves showing threshold receiver operating characteristics (ROC system), based on correlation and destined to be used for a UWB radar is presented. The study is original because it is presented for the first time in a UWB radar system.
