    Authors: Universidad de Huelva;

    La Universidad de Huelva publica por tercer año su Anuario de noticias, un docu mento que representa a modo de crónica un año muy especial, marcado nueva mente por la pandemia del coronavirus (COVID-19) pero, al mismo tiempo, por la vuelta a la presencialidad a las aulas. Destaca además un año en el que la rectora, María Antonia Peña, es reelegida en su cargo y en el que, además, la Onubense pasa a coordinar en la CRUE a todas las universidades españolas en temas tan importantes como son la Igualdad de Género y la Internacionalización. La Universi dad de Huelva mantiene su liderazgo como universidad española más transparente según el ranking elaborado por la fundación independiente Compromiso y Transpa rencia. En investigación, la UHU aparece por primera vez en su historia en el presti gioso ranking de Shanghay en el ámbito del turismo. Cabe destacar el notable incre mento de los hitos de la Universidad y su presencia en Andalucía, España y América Latina, esto último con la incorporación de la UHU en la vicepresidencia del Grupo La Rábida, que aglutina a numerosas universidades del ámbito iberoamericano. Este Anuario mantiene la importante apuesta por la producción audiovisual que incrementa notablemente nuestra presencia en ante la sociedad que nos rodea y digitalmente en todo el mundo.

    Authors: Instituto de Salud Carlos III. Gabinete de prensa;

    Noticia publicada en la web del ISCIII el 01/06/2022 Un artículo del Instituto de Salud Carlos III que se ha publicado este viernes en la revista The Lancet Infectious Diseases, ha demostrado que la dosis de recuerdo frente a SARS-CoV-2 con las vacunas COVID 19 de ARN mensajero (ARNm) permitió reducir un 51% el riesgo de infección por SARS-CoV-2 en la sexta ola causada por la variante Ómicron. La aparición y expansión de la variante Ómicron dio lugar a una sexta ola pandémica con la mayor incidencia de COVID-19 notificada hasta el momento en España, cuyo pico se alcanzó durante enero de 2022. Los resultados de esta investigación sugieren que la administración de las dosis de recuerdo (tercera dosis) supuso una estrategia importante para limitar los efectos de la COVID-19 durante esta sexta ola. De igual manera, este estudio revela la importancia de poder analizar múltiples bases de datos para obtener resultados científicos que, junto con otras herramientas, permitan analizar la efectividad de las actuaciones en salud pública.     Authors: Novales Cinca, Alfonso Santiago;

    El artículo propone las líneas generales del papel que el sector público debería jugar en la reconstrucción social y económica tras la grave crisis producida por la pandemia de la COVID-19. Tras analizar distintas visiones acerca de la intervención pública desde los conceptos básicos de la teoría económica, se establece una propuesta de reforma de la administración en las áreas posiblemente más relevantes: agencias autónomas, profesionalización de directivos públicos, reducción de burocracia, transparencia, rendición de cuentas. Finalmente, apunta criterios bajo los cuales, con esta visión del sector público, deberían gestionarse los importantes fondos europeos concedidos para la recuperación de nuestro modelo económico.

    Authors: Rojas Gámez, Raúl Eduardo;

    Las comorbilidades en la pandemia por covid-19 jugaron un papel importante en cuanto a la priorización del paciente para el ingreso a la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos. Esto, ya que se observó que los pacientes con algunas comorbilidades tenían una tasa de mortalidad mayor, sin embargo, establecer puntualmente cuál fue su papel en el desarrollo de la enfermedad y sus desenlaces, es algo que aún se encuentra en estudio. Objetivo: Evaluar el Impacto de las comorbilidades en la instancia hospitalaria y desenlace en los pacientes que fuer a la Unidad de Cuidado intensivo en una clínica de 2020. Materiales y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio de cohorte retrospectivo, descriptivo y observacional. Se tomaron todos los pacientes que fueron remitidos a remitidos a la Unidad de Cuidado Intensivo positivos por RT-PCR. El periodo de estudio estuvo abril de 2020 a diciembre de 2020. Los datos acopiados se organizaron en la matriz de carga y se les realizó estadística descriptiva para caracterizar socio-demográficamente a la población en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos. Se halló la frecuencia a las comorbilidades, estancia hospitalaria, mortalidad, así como de las variables sociodemográficas. Resultados: Se analizaron 38 pacientes que cumplieron criterio de inclusión y excusión, la edad promedio global fue de 66.6±17.7 años. El 68% fueron hombres. La HTA fue la comorbilidad más frecuente (65,48%). Se encontró correlación de las comorbilidades HTA con DM2 y ICC, así como de la DM2 con ICC. La estancia promedio fue de 9.6±8.7 días, no se encontró una relación entre una comorbilidad en específico y el número de días de estancia en UCI (p > 0.05), tampoco se encontró una asociación entre la mortalidad y el número de comorbilidades (p > 0.05). Conclusión: El que no se encontrase una relación directa entre la estancia hospitalaria y/o mortalidad con las comorbilidades indica que estas actúan como factores predisponentes para las complicaciones Covid que si son un factor determinante en la estancia hospitalaria prolongada y/o muerte. Comorbidities in the covid-19 pandemic played an important role in patient prioritization for admission to the Intensive Care Unit. This, since it was observed that patients with some comorbidities had a higher mortality rate, however, precisely establishing what their role was in the development of the disease and its outcomes is something that is still under study. Objective: To evaluate the impact of comorbidities in the hospital instance and the outcome in patients who went to the Intensive Care Unit in a clinic in 2020. Materials and Methods: A retrospective, descriptive and observational cohort study was carried out. All patients who were referred to the Intensive Care Unit positive by RT-PCR were taken. The study period was from April 2020 to December 2020. The data collected was organized in the load matrix and descriptive statistics were performed to characterize socio-demographically the population in the Intensive Care Unit. The frequency of comorbidities, hospital stay, mortality, as well as sociodemographic variables was found. Results: 38 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were analyzed; the overall average age was 66.6±17.7 years. 68% were men. Hypertension was the most frequent comorbidity (65.48%). A correlation was found between the comorbidities HBP with DM2 and CHF, as well as between DM2 and CHF. The average stay was 9.6±8.7 days, no relationship was found between a specific comorbidity and the number of days of stay in the ICU (p > 0.05), nor was an association between mortality and the number of comorbidities (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The fact that no direct relationship was found between hospital stay and/or mortality with comorbidities indicates that these act as predisposing factors for Covid complications that are a determining factor in prolonged hospital stay and/or death.

    Authors: Pacheco Mosquera, Luis Fabián; Tapias Agamez, Manuel Alberto;

    Dado que los coronavirus no siempre permanecen confinados al sistema respiratorio, en determinadas condiciones pueden invadir distintos sistemas incluido el sistema nervioso, conllevando a la presentación de manifestaciones neurológicas diversas. Objetivos: Establecer la prevalencia de manifestaciones neurológicas en pacientes con infección por COVID-19 y su relación con las comorbilidades presentes en los sujetos del estudio. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó una revisión sistemática cuantitativa, a partir de los datos aportados por los estudios que hasta la fecha se han realizado en pacientes con COVID 19 encontrados en las bases de datos (MedRxiv, PUBMED, OVID, EMBASE, MEDLINE y SCOPUS. El tiempo de la revisión abarca desde el 01 de diciembre del 2019 hasta el 31 de mayo del 2020. Resultados: Mediante la estrategia de búsqueda PRISMA, se pudieron identificar 162 artículos siendo seleccionados para este estudio 58 de ellos. Conclusiones: La incidencia de manifestaciones neurológicas en pacientes con infección por COVID-19 resulta importante, por lo que se recomiendan todos los esfuerzos del personal médico para su detección oportuna, de tal forma que se brinden las opciones terapéuticas necesarias para impactar tanto en la mortalidad como en la discapacidad que puedan generar. Since coronaviruses do not always remain confined to the respiratory system, under certain conditions they can invade different systems including the nervous system, leading to the presentation of various neurological manifestations. Objectives: To establish the prevalence of neurological manifestations in patients with COVID-19 infection and its relationship with the comorbidities present in the study subjects. Materials and methods: A quantitative systematic review was carried out, based on the data provided by the studies that have been carried out to date in patients with COVID 19 found in the databases (MedRxiv, PUBMED, OVID, EMBASE, MEDLINE and SCOPUS). The time during which the information in the databases was reviewed corresponds from December 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020. Results: Using the PRISMA search strategy, we were able to identify 162 articles. Finally, we had 58 articles for synthesis. Conclusions: Future epidemiological studies and case registries should give importance to the incidence of neurological manifestations, in addition to their pathogenic mechanisms, which leads to optimal therapeutic options that impact both mortality and disability.

    Authors: Universidad de Huelva;

    La Universidad de Huelva publica por tercer año su Anuario de noticias, un docu mento que representa a modo de crónica un año muy especial, marcado nueva mente por la pandemia del coronavirus (COVID-19) pero, al mismo tiempo, por la vuelta a la presencialidad a las aulas. Destaca además un año en el que la rectora, María Antonia Peña, es reelegida en su cargo y en el que, además, la Onubense pasa a coordinar en la CRUE a todas las universidades españolas en temas tan importantes como son la Igualdad de Género y la Internacionalización. La Universi dad de Huelva mantiene su liderazgo como universidad española más transparente según el ranking elaborado por la fundación independiente Compromiso y Transpa rencia. En investigación, la UHU aparece por primera vez en su historia en el presti gioso ranking de Shanghay en el ámbito del turismo. Cabe destacar el notable incre mento de los hitos de la Universidad y su presencia en Andalucía, España y América Latina, esto último con la incorporación de la UHU en la vicepresidencia del Grupo La Rábida, que aglutina a numerosas universidades del ámbito iberoamericano. Este Anuario mantiene la importante apuesta por la producción audiovisual que incrementa notablemente nuestra presencia en ante la sociedad que nos rodea y digitalmente en todo el mundo.

    Authors: Instituto de Salud Carlos III. Gabinete de prensa;

    Noticia publicada en la web del ISCIII el 01/06/2022 Un artículo del Instituto de Salud Carlos III que se ha publicado este viernes en la revista The Lancet Infectious Diseases, ha demostrado que la dosis de recuerdo frente a SARS-CoV-2 con las vacunas COVID 19 de ARN mensajero (ARNm) permitió reducir un 51% el riesgo de infección por SARS-CoV-2 en la sexta ola causada por la variante Ómicron. La aparición y expansión de la variante Ómicron dio lugar a una sexta ola pandémica con la mayor incidencia de COVID-19 notificada hasta el momento en España, cuyo pico se alcanzó durante enero de 2022. Los resultados de esta investigación sugieren que la administración de las dosis de recuerdo (tercera dosis) supuso una estrategia importante para limitar los efectos de la COVID-19 durante esta sexta ola. De igual manera, este estudio revela la importancia de poder analizar múltiples bases de datos para obtener resultados científicos que, junto con otras herramientas, permitan analizar la efectividad de las actuaciones en salud pública.     Authors: Novales Cinca, Alfonso Santiago;

    El artículo propone las líneas generales del papel que el sector público debería jugar en la reconstrucción social y económica tras la grave crisis producida por la pandemia de la COVID-19. Tras analizar distintas visiones acerca de la intervención pública desde los conceptos básicos de la teoría económica, se establece una propuesta de reforma de la administración en las áreas posiblemente más relevantes: agencias autónomas, profesionalización de directivos públicos, reducción de burocracia, transparencia, rendición de cuentas. Finalmente, apunta criterios bajo los cuales, con esta visión del sector público, deberían gestionarse los importantes fondos europeos concedidos para la recuperación de nuestro modelo económico.

    Authors: Rojas Gámez, Raúl Eduardo;
