    Abstract Background: Dysmenorrhoea releated with body mass index -less than 20 kg/cm2, smoking, early menarche, longer menstrual cycles, irregular menstrual flow and a family history of dysmenorrhea. On the other hand, the relationship between physical activity level and dysmenorrhea is still controversial. Purpose of the study: This study aimed to examinate of the effect of the pandemic on physical activity and dysmenorrhea together. Results: Individuals' severity of dysmenorrhea, menstrual symptoms, physical activity levels were assessed with “Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)’’, “Menstruation Symptom Questionarre (MSQ)”, “International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ)”, respectively. Moreover; BMI was calculated. Assessments were carried out twice, before -during the pandemic. The VAS value was 6.23 ± 1.78 before the pandemic, it was 7.20 ± 1.63 during the pandemic. The IPAQ score was 1274.67 ± 1232.26 before the pandemic, it was 902.74 ± 892.33 during the pandemic. While the changes in VAS (t: -3.549, p: 0.001) and IPAQ (t: 2.543, p: 0.013) values before and during the pandemic were statistically significant MSQ (t: -.781, p: 0.437) and BMI (t: -.938, p: 0.351) changes were not statistically significant. Conclusion: When the severity of dysmenorrhea and physical activity levels were compared with before the pandemic, a decrease in the level of physical activity and an increase in the severity of dysmenorrhea were found statistically significant during the pandemic (p 0.05).

    Abstract The aim of this study is to investigate the therapeutic effects of Chloroquine (CLQ) against Adriamycin (ADR) induced hepatotoxicity. ADR is a chemotherapeutic agent used in the treatment of many cancer types, but it causes hepatotoxicity. CLQ is used as an anti-inflammatory drug in the treatment of malaria, rheumatoid arthritis, and pneumonia caused by Covid-19. Rats were divided into four groups: Control group, ADR group (2 mg/kg Adriamycin, one in three days for 30 days, i.p.), CLQ group (50 mg/kg Chloroquine, per day for 30 days, i.p.), ADR+CLQ (2 mg/kg Adriamycin, one in three days for 30 days, i.p. and 50 mg/ kg Chloroquine, per day for 30 days, i.p.). Animals were sacrificed, and liver tissues were extracted for further examinations. Histopathological changes in liver tissues were scored and IL-17 immunostaining was performed to determine the expression levels among experimental groups. Bodyweights in the ADR group decreased significantly compared to the Control group and CLQ group. Furthermore, bodyweight in ADR+CLQ group was significantly higher compared to ADR group. The histopathological score was significantly higher in ADR group when compared to Control and CLQ group while CLQ administrations reduced the damage induced by ADR in the ADR+CLQ group. IL-17 immunoreactivity was considerably increased in the ADR group. On the other hand, IL-17 expressions of ADR+CLQ were substantially less compared to ADR group. We suggest that CLQ can be used as a therapeutic agent to reduce the detrimental effects of ADR, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.

    Pandemi sürecinde sokağa çıkma yasağı, evden çalışma ve yüz yüze sosyalleşme mekanlarının; restoranların, eğlence yerlerinin kapatılması insanların daha fazla evde zaman geçirmelerine neden olmuştur. Bu zorunlu hallerin sonucu ile evde geçirilen sürenin ve mutfakta geçirilen zaman ile aktivitelerin artmasıyla alışkanlıklarda değişim olabilmektedir. Bu çalışma beyaz ve mavi yakalı çalışan kadınların pandemi öncesi ve pandemi sürecinde hane içi mutfak pratiklerinin araştırılması ve keşfedilmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışmasına göre tasarlanan bu çalışmada, 10 katılımcı (5 kişi mavi yaka – 5 kişi beyaz yaka) ile 20 Mart-15 Nisan 2021 tarihleri arasında yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak internet üzerinden yapılan görüntülü görüşmeler ile veriler elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada örneklem grubuna sosyo-demografik özellikleri ile ilgili 6 ve pandemi öncesi ve pandemi sürecinde hane içi mutfakta geçirilen vakit ile geçirilen süre esnasında yapılan pratikleri tanımlama ve kendilerini nasıl hissettiklerini anlamaya yönelik 9 soru sorulmuştur. Her bir katılımcı için görüşme süresi ortalama 18 dakika sürmüştür. Toplanan verilerin çözümlenmesinde nitel araştırma tekniklerinden betimsel analiz kullanılmıştır. Yapılan araştırma ve betimsel analiz sonucunda üç ayrı tematik kategori oluşturulmuştur. Bu temalar, “mutfakta geçirilen zaman”, “mutfak pratikleri” ve “mutfak pratiklerinin tutku ve/ya zorunluluk üzerinden nitelikleri” olarak belirlenmiştir. Pandemi sürecinde mutfakta geçirilen sürenin arttığı, mutfak pratiklerinin geliştirilip yeni lezzetler denendiği ve özellikle ekmek ile hamur işi reçetelerine ağırlık verildiği bulgular ışığında tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca pandemi öncesi ve pandemi sürecinde beyaz ve mavi yakalı kadınların mutfak pratiklerinde zorunluluk üzerinden bir ayrımın da yapılabileceği görülmektedir. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular ışığında, pandemi öncesi ve pandemi sürecinde mutfak pratiklerinde farklılıklar ortaya konmuştur. Pandemi sürecinde beyaz ve mavi yakalı kadınların çalışmayan/ev hanımları ile eşit şartlara geldiği görülmüştür. Pandemi süreci ile birlikte mutfakta geçirilen sürenin her iki kesimde de aynı oranda artması kadının hane dışındaki statüsüne bakılmaksızın cinsiyetçi iş rolünün evde devam ettiğini göstermektedir.

    Geçmişten günümüze kadar olan süreçte çeşitlenen sağlık problemlerinin etkisiyle tıbbi malzeme ve ilaç endüstrisine talep gittikçe artmaktadır. Talebin yanı sıra tüm Dünya’yı etkisi altına alan COVID-19 virüsünün yayılması tıbbi madde kaynaklarına kolayca ulaşmayı zorunlu hale getirmiştir. Zamanla yarışılan bu dönemde yapılan aşı çalışmalarının sonuç vermesiyle birlikte kaynağın tüketicilere sunulması kritik bir problem olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu sebeple yapılan çalışmada sağlık ürünlerini kapsayan ilaç deposu ve aşı dağıtım merkezi için yer seçimi problemi ele alınmıştır. İlaç ve aşı endüstrisine hizmet edecek depo kuruluşu için çok kriterli karar verme yöntemlerinden (ÇKKV) AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), ANP (Analytic Network Process) ve PROMETHEE yöntemleri kullanılarak en uygun depo yeri seçiminin yapılması hedeflenmiştir. Ele alınan problemde 5 alternatif senaryo çözümü birbiri ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Stratejik konumu itibari ile Kırıkkale ilindeki 4 alternatif bölge değerlendirilmiş olup 3 ana kriter ve 7 alt kriter dikkate alınarak çözümler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile ilaç deposu ve aşı dağıtım merkezi yeri seçimi problemi için AHP, ANP ve PROMETHEE yöntemleri çözüm karşılaştırması ilk defa yapılmış olup literatüre katkı sağlamaktadır.

    Aim: Reactions against vaccines developed to combat COVID-19 are rising in all countries. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the opinions in regards to the vaccine in order to develop a positive perspective by identifying the negative opinions. This study was conducted to determine university students’ attitudes towards the COVID-19 vaccine.Study Design: Cross-sectional studyMaterial and Method: This research was conducted as a cross-sectional study with university students studying at the Health Programs Campus of Cappadocia University in the Province of Nevşehir. In this context, study data were collected from a total of 332 students to reach power of 99% based on the known sample calculation.Results: 51.2% of the participants (n=170) in this study were between the ages of 18-20; 69.3% (n=230) were females; 24.1% (n=80) were students in Medical Laboratory Techniques Program and 52.4% (n=174) were 2nd year students. According to the results, 53.9% (n=179) of the participants believed that they could easily recover when they got sick and 76.6% of the participants (n=254) stated that they were worried about the side effects of the vaccine. Participants’ total mean score from the attitudes towards the COVID-19 Vaccine Scale was found to be 3.18 ± 0.76.Conclusion: Students were found to have a positive attitude towards the vaccine, but they still had some concerns. It is proposed to design further comprehensive studies to eliminate students’ concerns, to explain the effectiveness of the vaccine in a transparent way and to better understand the reasons underlying the vaccine hesitancy. Amaç: COVID-19 ile mücadele için geliştirilen aşılara karşı tepkiler tüm ülkelerde artıyor. Bu nedenle olumsuz görüşleri tespit ederek olumlu bir bakış açısı geliştirmek için aşı ile ilgili görüşlerin değerlendirilmesi önemlidir. Bu çalışma üniversite öğrencilerinin COVID-19 aşısına yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.Çalışma Tasarımı: Kesitsel çalışmaGereç ve Yöntem: Bu araştırma, Kapadokya Üniversitesi Nevşehir İli Sağlık Programları Yerleşkesinde öğrenim gören üniversite öğrencileri ile kesitsel tipte bir çalışma olarak yapılmıştır. Bu kapsamda, bilinen örneklem hesaplamasına dayalı olarak %99 güce ulaşmak için toplam 332 öğrenciden çalışma verileri toplanmıştır.Bulgular: Bu çalışmaya katılanların %51.2'si (n=170) 18-20 yaş arasındaydı; %69,3'ü (n=230) kadındı; %24.1'i (n=80) Tıbbi Laboratuar Teknikleri Programı öğrencisi ve %52.4'ü (n=174) 2. sınıf öğrencisiydi. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, katılımcıların %53.9'u (n=179) hastalandıklarında kolayca iyileşebileceklerine inanırken, %76.6'sı (n=254) aşının yan etkilerinden endişe duyduğunu ifade etmiştir. Katılımcıların COVID-19 Aşı Ölçeğine yönelik tutumlarından aldıkları toplam puan ortalamaları 3,18 ± 0,76 olarak bulunmuştur.Sonuç: Öğrencilerin aşıya karşı olumlu bir tutum içinde oldukları ancak yine de bazı endişeleri olduğu tespit edildi. Öğrencilerin endişelerini gidermek, aşının etkinliğini şeffaf bir şekilde açıklamak ve aşı tereddütlerinin altında yatan sebepleri daha iyi anlamak için daha kapsamlı çalışmaların tasarlanması önerilmektedir.

    This study compared the effects of videos and handouts, accompanied by the paragraph assignments, on the quality of English language learners’ written descriptive paragraphs. The study was quasiexperimental and quantitative. It had a pretest-treatment-posttest design. As the treatments, either videos or handouts were accompanied by descriptive paragraph assignments which the participating students were required to write. The purpose of accompanying either videos or handouts was providing the learners with additional guides to help them write appropriate and accurate descriptive paragraphs. The study was conducted during the Covid-19 crisis. The participants were 56 Turkish learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at pre-intermediate level of proficiency. They were receiving virtual education due to school closures because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The participants were assigned to two groups, each of which included 28 learners. One group was provided with educational videos, relevant to the given assignment. The other group was given similar information via handouts. The results of the independent samples t-test indicated that the group that received videos significantly outperformed the one that received handouts. Consequently, the study highly recommends EFL teachers utilize this technique in their classrooms.

Due to reasons such as infectious diseases, socio-political changes and wars, politics and the world economy have changed throughout history. The effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, which affected the whole world by causing socioeconomic panic and mass losses in 2019, on the potential public administration were analyzed. There has been a break in this area with the Covid-19 epidemic. Due to the disruptions experienced in the field of legislation, institutional structure, practice and knowledge, the positions of the economic and socio-political organization have started to change rapidly. For this reason, the effects of regional and global epidemics on public administration have begun to be discussed. This research, which aims to examine previously seen epidemics, will be evaluated as a result of examining the scientific literature on the economy, health and socio-political developments of public administration. In addition to the ongoing process in the literature, the effects of Covid-19 on the public and its socio-political reflections on its potential effects will be evaluated.

    ÖZET Koronavirüs hastalığı 2019 (COVID-19) hızlı yayılım gösteren bir pandemidir. Hastalığın yayılmasında virüse bağlı etmenlerin (viral yük, ACE bağlama proteini vs.) yanı sıra asemptomatik bireylerin de rolü azımsanmayacak miktardadır. COVID-19 pandemisinde, toplumda virüsün yayılmasına neden olan sessiz bulaştırıcıları saptamak için Kapadokya Üniversitesi sağlık programlarında öğrenim gören 18-40 yaş arasındaki 258 öğrencide SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalansı araştırıldı. Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması 21,5 (min = 18, max= 33) olup %69’u (n=38) kız öğrenciydi. Çalışmada bireylerin seroprevalans taramasında LFIA (Lateral Flow Immuno Assay) yöntemi kullanılarak SARS-COV-2 virüsüne karşı antikor yanıtları tarandı ve hastalık bulguları, PZR (polimeraz zincir reaksiyonu) testi ve şüpheli temas öyküsü yönünden değerlendirildi. Çalışmamızda SARS-CoV-2 seropozitifliği %21 (n=55) olarak saptanmış olup bu bireylerin %25’inin (n=14) son altı ay içinde PZR pozitiflikleri bulunmaktaydı. %56’sının (n=31) semptom göstermediği için test yaptırmadığını fakat SARS-COV-2 antikor pozitifliği saptandı. Bu oranlar, toplumdaki sessiz bulaştırıcıların yaygınlığını ortaya koymuştur. Bu çalışma seroepidemiyolojik veri eldesi açısından değerli olmakla birlikte koruyucu bağışıklık göstergesi olarak kabul edilmemelidir.

    Abstract Background: Dysmenorrhoea releated with body mass index -less than 20 kg/cm2, smoking, early menarche, longer menstrual cycles, irregular menstrual flow and a family history of dysmenorrhea. On the other hand, the relationship between physical activity level and dysmenorrhea is still controversial. Purpose of the study: This study aimed to examinate of the effect of the pandemic on physical activity and dysmenorrhea together. Results: Individuals' severity of dysmenorrhea, menstrual symptoms, physical activity levels were assessed with “Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)’’, “Menstruation Symptom Questionarre (MSQ)”, “International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ)”, respectively. Moreover; BMI was calculated. Assessments were carried out twice, before -during the pandemic. The VAS value was 6.23 ± 1.78 before the pandemic, it was 7.20 ± 1.63 during the pandemic. The IPAQ score was 1274.67 ± 1232.26 before the pandemic, it was 902.74 ± 892.33 during the pandemic. While the changes in VAS (t: -3.549, p: 0.001) and IPAQ (t: 2.543, p: 0.013) values before and during the pandemic were statistically significant MSQ (t: -.781, p: 0.437) and BMI (t: -.938, p: 0.351) changes were not statistically significant. Conclusion: When the severity of dysmenorrhea and physical activity levels were compared with before the pandemic, a decrease in the level of physical activity and an increase in the severity of dysmenorrhea were found statistically significant during the pandemic (p 0.05).

    Abstract The aim of this study is to investigate the therapeutic effects of Chloroquine (CLQ) against Adriamycin (ADR) induced hepatotoxicity. ADR is a chemotherapeutic agent used in the treatment of many cancer types, but it causes hepatotoxicity. CLQ is used as an anti-inflammatory drug in the treatment of malaria, rheumatoid arthritis, and pneumonia caused by Covid-19. Rats were divided into four groups: Control group, ADR group (2 mg/kg Adriamycin, one in three days for 30 days, i.p.), CLQ group (50 mg/kg Chloroquine, per day for 30 days, i.p.), ADR+CLQ (2 mg/kg Adriamycin, one in three days for 30 days, i.p. and 50 mg/ kg Chloroquine, per day for 30 days, i.p.). Animals were sacrificed, and liver tissues were extracted for further examinations. Histopathological changes in liver tissues were scored and IL-17 immunostaining was performed to determine the expression levels among experimental groups. Bodyweights in the ADR group decreased significantly compared to the Control group and CLQ group. Furthermore, bodyweight in ADR+CLQ group was significantly higher compared to ADR group. The histopathological score was significantly higher in ADR group when compared to Control and CLQ group while CLQ administrations reduced the damage induced by ADR in the ADR+CLQ group. IL-17 immunoreactivity was considerably increased in the ADR group. On the other hand, IL-17 expressions of ADR+CLQ were substantially less compared to ADR group. We suggest that CLQ can be used as a therapeutic agent to reduce the detrimental effects of ADR, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.

    Pandemi sürecinde sokağa çıkma yasağı, evden çalışma ve yüz yüze sosyalleşme mekanlarının; restoranların, eğlence yerlerinin kapatılması insanların daha fazla evde zaman geçirmelerine neden olmuştur. Bu zorunlu hallerin sonucu ile evde geçirilen sürenin ve mutfakta geçirilen zaman ile aktivitelerin artmasıyla alışkanlıklarda değişim olabilmektedir. Bu çalışma beyaz ve mavi yakalı çalışan kadınların pandemi öncesi ve pandemi sürecinde hane içi mutfak pratiklerinin araştırılması ve keşfedilmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışmasına göre tasarlanan bu çalışmada, 10 katılımcı (5 kişi mavi yaka – 5 kişi beyaz yaka) ile 20 Mart-15 Nisan 2021 tarihleri arasında yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak internet üzerinden yapılan görüntülü görüşmeler ile veriler elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada örneklem grubuna sosyo-demografik özellikleri ile ilgili 6 ve pandemi öncesi ve pandemi sürecinde hane içi mutfakta geçirilen vakit ile geçirilen süre esnasında yapılan pratikleri tanımlama ve kendilerini nasıl hissettiklerini anlamaya yönelik 9 soru sorulmuştur. Her bir katılımcı için görüşme süresi ortalama 18 dakika sürmüştür. Toplanan verilerin çözümlenmesinde nitel araştırma tekniklerinden betimsel analiz kullanılmıştır. Yapılan araştırma ve betimsel analiz sonucunda üç ayrı tematik kategori oluşturulmuştur. Bu temalar, “mutfakta geçirilen zaman”, “mutfak pratikleri” ve “mutfak pratiklerinin tutku ve/ya zorunluluk üzerinden nitelikleri” olarak belirlenmiştir. Pandemi sürecinde mutfakta geçirilen sürenin arttığı, mutfak pratiklerinin geliştirilip yeni lezzetler denendiği ve özellikle ekmek ile hamur işi reçetelerine ağırlık verildiği bulgular ışığında tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca pandemi öncesi ve pandemi sürecinde beyaz ve mavi yakalı kadınların mutfak pratiklerinde zorunluluk üzerinden bir ayrımın da yapılabileceği görülmektedir. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular ışığında, pandemi öncesi ve pandemi sürecinde mutfak pratiklerinde farklılıklar ortaya konmuştur. Pandemi sürecinde beyaz ve mavi yakalı kadınların çalışmayan/ev hanımları ile eşit şartlara geldiği görülmüştür. Pandemi süreci ile birlikte mutfakta geçirilen sürenin her iki kesimde de aynı oranda artması kadının hane dışındaki statüsüne bakılmaksızın cinsiyetçi iş rolünün evde devam ettiğini göstermektedir.

    Geçmişten günümüze kadar olan süreçte çeşitlenen sağlık problemlerinin etkisiyle tıbbi malzeme ve ilaç endüstrisine talep gittikçe artmaktadır. Talebin yanı sıra tüm Dünya’yı etkisi altına alan COVID-19 virüsünün yayılması tıbbi madde kaynaklarına kolayca ulaşmayı zorunlu hale getirmiştir. Zamanla yarışılan bu dönemde yapılan aşı çalışmalarının sonuç vermesiyle birlikte kaynağın tüketicilere sunulması kritik bir problem olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu sebeple yapılan çalışmada sağlık ürünlerini kapsayan ilaç deposu ve aşı dağıtım merkezi için yer seçimi problemi ele alınmıştır. İlaç ve aşı endüstrisine hizmet edecek depo kuruluşu için çok kriterli karar verme yöntemlerinden (ÇKKV) AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), ANP (Analytic Network Process) ve PROMETHEE yöntemleri kullanılarak en uygun depo yeri seçiminin yapılması hedeflenmiştir. Ele alınan problemde 5 alternatif senaryo çözümü birbiri ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Stratejik konumu itibari ile Kırıkkale ilindeki 4 alternatif bölge değerlendirilmiş olup 3 ana kriter ve 7 alt kriter dikkate alınarak çözümler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile ilaç deposu ve aşı dağıtım merkezi yeri seçimi problemi için AHP, ANP ve PROMETHEE yöntemleri çözüm karşılaştırması ilk defa yapılmış olup literatüre katkı sağlamaktadır.

    Aim: Reactions against vaccines developed to combat COVID-19 are rising in all countries. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the opinions in regards to the vaccine in order to develop a positive perspective by identifying the negative opinions. This study was conducted to determine university students’ attitudes towards the COVID-19 vaccine.Study Design: Cross-sectional studyMaterial and Method: This research was conducted as a cross-sectional study with university students studying at the Health Programs Campus of Cappadocia University in the Province of Nevşehir. In this context, study data were collected from a total of 332 students to reach power of 99% based on the known sample calculation.Results: 51.2% of the participants (n=170) in this study were between the ages of 18-20; 69.3% (n=230) were females; 24.1% (n=80) were students in Medical Laboratory Techniques Program and 52.4% (n=174) were 2nd year students. According to the results, 53.9% (n=179) of the participants believed that they could easily recover when they got sick and 76.6% of the participants (n=254) stated that they were worried about the side effects of the vaccine. Participants’ total mean score from the attitudes towards the COVID-19 Vaccine Scale was found to be 3.18 ± 0.76.Conclusion: Students were found to have a positive attitude towards the vaccine, but they still had some concerns. It is proposed to design further comprehensive studies to eliminate students’ concerns, to explain the effectiveness of the vaccine in a transparent way and to better understand the reasons underlying the vaccine hesitancy. Amaç: COVID-19 ile mücadele için geliştirilen aşılara karşı tepkiler tüm ülkelerde artıyor. Bu nedenle olumsuz görüşleri tespit ederek olumlu bir bakış açısı geliştirmek için aşı ile ilgili görüşlerin değerlendirilmesi önemlidir. Bu çalışma üniversite öğrencilerinin COVID-19 aşısına yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.Çalışma Tasarımı: Kesitsel çalışmaGereç ve Yöntem: Bu araştırma, Kapadokya Üniversitesi Nevşehir İli Sağlık Programları Yerleşkesinde öğrenim gören üniversite öğrencileri ile kesitsel tipte bir çalışma olarak yapılmıştır. Bu kapsamda, bilinen örneklem hesaplamasına dayalı olarak %99 güce ulaşmak için toplam 332 öğrenciden çalışma verileri toplanmıştır.Bulgular: Bu çalışmaya katılanların %51.2'si (n=170) 18-20 yaş arasındaydı; %69,3'ü (n=230) kadındı; %24.1'i (n=80) Tıbbi Laboratuar Teknikleri Programı öğrencisi ve %52.4'ü (n=174) 2. sınıf öğrencisiydi. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, katılımcıların %53.9'u (n=179) hastalandıklarında kolayca iyileşebileceklerine inanırken, %76.6'sı (n=254) aşının yan etkilerinden endişe duyduğunu ifade etmiştir. Katılımcıların COVID-19 Aşı Ölçeğine yönelik tutumlarından aldıkları toplam puan ortalamaları 3,18 ± 0,76 olarak bulunmuştur.Sonuç: Öğrencilerin aşıya karşı olumlu bir tutum içinde oldukları ancak yine de bazı endişeleri olduğu tespit edildi. Öğrencilerin endişelerini gidermek, aşının etkinliğini şeffaf bir şekilde açıklamak ve aşı tereddütlerinin altında yatan sebepleri daha iyi anlamak için daha kapsamlı çalışmaların tasarlanması önerilmektedir.

    This study compared the effects of videos and handouts, accompanied by the paragraph assignments, on the quality of English language learners’ written descriptive paragraphs. The study was quasiexperimental and quantitative. It had a pretest-treatment-posttest design. As the treatments, either videos or handouts were accompanied by descriptive paragraph assignments which the participating students were required to write. The purpose of accompanying either videos or handouts was providing the learners with additional guides to help them write appropriate and accurate descriptive paragraphs. The study was conducted during the Covid-19 crisis. The participants were 56 Turkish learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at pre-intermediate level of proficiency. They were receiving virtual education due to school closures because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The participants were assigned to two groups, each of which included 28 learners. One group was provided with educational videos, relevant to the given assignment. The other group was given similar information via handouts. The results of the independent samples t-test indicated that the group that received videos significantly outperformed the one that received handouts. Consequently, the study highly recommends EFL teachers utilize this technique in their classrooms.
