description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Part of book or chapter of book 2023 Denmark GermanPublisher:Springer Nature Authors: Pedersen, Anne Grethe Julius; Ditlevsen, Marianne Grove;Pedersen, Anne Grethe Julius; Ditlevsen, Marianne Grove;Der Beitrag untersucht Möglichkeiten und Grenzen eines partizipationsorientierten Kommunikationsansatzes im Bereich der Investor Relations (IR).

Overtly inspired by the SI, this paper focuses on how participants sound for themselves to account for and rationalise their own bodily movements. The paper reports on an ongoing research project on the accomplishment of appropriate train travelling during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. It combines an ethnomethodological approach (specifically inspired by Jayyusi, 2014) with a governmentality perspective (Rose, 1999), and it approaches risk management on trains as the endeavours to steer and manage the conduct of passengers as well as the passengers’ conduct of themselves. To investigate such management, we recorded inside trains in Northern Denmark with an Insta360 camera and a Zoom H2n audio recorder. This paper includes three graphic transcripts (Laurier, 2014) drawn from this data corpus. The transcripts zoom in on passengers’ various lexical and non-lexical (Albert & Vom Lehn, 2023) ways of sounding and rationalising their bodily movements as they encounter and seek to resolve unexpected management troubles on the train.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.eudescription Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article 2023 Denmark EnglishAuthors: Lindegaard, Laura Bang;Lindegaard, Laura Bang; The paper adds to the growing literature that considers how COVID-19 has impacted on public transport. It reports on a focus group study in Denmark with both users and non-users of public transport during the pandemic. Focus group participants were asked to talk about and explain their everyday transport mode choices, based on the assumption that “fear of transmission” would have come to represent yet another readymade rationalisation resource for people to use to justify if they do not want to use public transport. However, the participants consistently resist to rationalise their mode choice-decisions with reference to “fear of contagion”. Combining studies of governmentality and ethnomethodology, the paper proposes that this observation can be understood as a pre-emption of the relevance of risk of contagion for travel decisions and, thus, as a negotiation of an inappropriate attempt at conducting conduct. The paper offers a detailed analysis of how this unfolds in the focus group interaction, and it concludes suggesting its findings indicate a little explored domain: It appears as if passengers cannot admit to “fear of contagion” without risking appearing incapable of governing his- or herself in line with dominating economic and rational choice ethics of advanced liberalism. From each their perspective, Freudendal-Pedersen (2009) and Lindegaard (2012) have both argued that the current system of automobility is co-constituted by different forms of discursive legitimation work. For instance, Freudendal-Pedersen (2009) observes that people utilise “structural stories” to rationalise and justify their everyday mobilities practices. During the COVID19 pandemic, passenger numbers in public transport have dropped dramatically while sales of private cars have increased. Different rapports and surveys have pointed out that this is partly due to an increased concern about risk of contagion in tight public spaces, and, therefore, it could seem as if ‘risk of contagion’ has come to represent yet another readily available structural story for people to use when they justify why they do not use public transport. This paper draws on focus group data to do a fine-grained analysis of how ‘risk of contagion’ is oriented to and negotiated by various categories of movers when they attempt to legitimise their own transportation practices. Through this study, I aim to contribute with knowledge about if and how ‘risk of contagion’ stabilises or destabilises the current, environmentally harmful system of automobility.

Detailed data on the resilience of stroke care services during the COVID-19 pandemic are limited. We aimed to examine the quality of early stroke care at Danish hospitals during the early phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and methods: We extracted data from Danish national health registries in five time periods (11 March, 2020–27 January, 2021) and compared these to a baseline pre-pandemic period (13 March, 2019–10 March, 2020). Quality of early stroke care was assessed as fulfilment of individual process performance measures and as a composite measure (opportunity-based score). Results: A total of 23,054 patients were admitted with stroke and 8153 with a TIA diagnosis in the entire period. On a national level, the opportunity-based score (95% confidence interval [CI]) at baseline for ischemic patients was 81.1% (80.8–81.4), for intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) 85.5% (84.3–86.6), and for TIA 96.0% (95.3–96.1). An increase of 1.1% (0.1–2.2) and 1.5% (0.3–2.7) in the opportunity-based score was observed during the first national lockdown period for AIS and TIA followed by a decline of −1.3% (−2.2 to −0.4) in the gradual reopening phase for AIS indicators. We found a significant negative association between regional incidence rates and quality-of-care in ischemic stroke patients implying that quality decreases when admission rates increase. Conclusion: The quality of acute stroke/TIA care in Denmark remained high during the early phases of the pandemic and only minor fluctuations occurred.
