    Como tema central se aborda el término de urbanismo postraumático que comúnmente se discute en el marco de diversos conflictos y desastres (naturales o antrópicos). Propongo como objetivo principal reflexionar sobre este concepto y sus posibles aportes como herramienta de análisis del proceso de recuperación y resiliencia de las ciudades frente a la pandemia mundial COVID-19. En cuanto a la metodología, se acudió a una revisión bibliográfica crítica y no extensa. Es selectiva con dos autores principales: el arquitecto e investigador Adrian Lahoud que discute el concepto del efecto del trauma en la planificación urbana y, posteriormente, los aportes del filósofo y sociólogo francés, Edgar Morin, en el tema de la circularidad virtuosa. Los puntos centrales de la reflexión sugieren evitar aplicar una solución o un proyecto urbano propuesto de forma genérica a todas las ciudades a nivel mundial, en el contexto post pandemia. Los resultados indican que, a pesar de los patrones identificados como reacciones comunes a eventos traumáticos, es importante promover una evolución mejorada de las articulaciones urbanas, lejos de regresar a un mismo estado pre-trauma. A manera de reflexiones finales, se analizan las especificidades de los casos de estudio a la hora de evaluar la resiliencia de cada emplazamiento urbano. En momentos de cambio y situaciones extremas, como con el COVID-19, la incertidumbre tiene que catapultar la investigación que respalde la toma de decisiones y con nuevos nichos de estudio que aporten conocimiento a los diversos actores urbanos. The term post-traumatic urbanism is addressed as the main subject of this essay, term commonly discussed in the context of various conflicts and disasters (natural or man-made). I propose as the main objective to reflect on this concept and its possible contributions as a tool for analyzing the process of recovery and resilience of cities in the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Regarding the methodology, a critical and not extensive bibliographic review was used. It is selective with two main authors: the architect and researcher Adrian Lahoud who discusses the concept of the effect of trauma in urban planning and, later, the contributions of the French philosopher and sociologist, Edgar Morin, on the subject of virtuous circularity. The central points of the reflection suggest to avoid proposing a solution or an urban project in a generic way to all cities worldwide, in the post-pandemic context. The results indicate, that despite the patterns identified as common reactions to traumatic events, it is important to promote an improved evolution of urban dynamics, far from returning to the same pre-trauma state. As final conclusions, it is highlighted the importance of the specificities of each case study when evaluating the resilience of each urban location. In times of change and extreme situations, as with COVID-19, uncertainty has to catapult research that supports decision-making and with new study niches that provide knowledge to the various urban actors.     Antecedentes: La Cámara de Comercio Colombo Americana en Barranquilla, una empresa prestadora de servicios que a lo largo de los 23 años de cercanía y fortalecimiento empresarial ha trabajado en el acompañamiento y búsqueda de oportunidades a nivel cuidad con las empresas que hacen parte de ella. En este trayecto, no se había presentado situación alguna tan repentina como lo fue la irrupción de la pandemia COVID-19, la cual ha propiciado profundos cambios sociales y económicos. Las empresas afiliadas a la cámara se han visto obligadas a dar un giro de 180° en sus modelos de negocio para mantener y asegurar su continuidad en el mercado, teniendo y marcando una flexibilidad laboral que antes no se tenía , restructurando diversas áreas y puestos para el correcto desarrollo de ellas, van ligadas a la capacidad de innovar que es una de las herramientas diferenciadoras que logra a favor la capacidad de operación de las organizaciones en cuánto, cómo y para qué adaptarse a los nuevos y cambiantes entornos competitivos. Con este estudio planteado se plasmará una muestra de cómo la pandemia de covid-19 les ha dejado una enseñanza a los empresarios, de la reestructuración en la práctica de la responsabilidad social y el cómo darle importancia a todos los Stakeholders ofreciendo nuevos cambios al momento de proceder a los negocios. The companies affiliated to the chamber have been forced to make a 180° turn in their business models to maintain and ensure their continuity in the market, having and marking a labor flexibility that they did not have before, restructuring several areas and positions for the correct development of them, are linked to the ability to innovate which is one of the differentiating tools that achieves in favor of the operating capacity of the organizations in how much, How and why to adapt to new and changing competitive environments, with this study raised a sample of how the pandemic of covid-19 has left a lesson to entrepreneurs, the restructuring in the practice of social responsibility and how to give importance to all Stakeholders offering new changes at the time of proceeding with business.     La presente investigación tiene como objetivo validar el Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado para pacientes adultos con COVID-19 que reciben Oxigenoterapia de Alto Flujo en el Servicio de Cuidados Intensivos I-2C del Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, 2021, el cual permitirá garantizar la seguridad y la calidad de la atención de los pacientes. Es un estudio de diseño no experimental, con enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo, y de corte transversal. La población está conformada por 67 enfermeras del Servicio de Cuidados Intensivos I – 2C del Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, de los cuales se seleccionará por muestreo no probabilístico 10 expertos según los criterios de inclusión. Se solicitará autorización para el acceso a la población de estudio y su consentimiento informado. Se realizará la Validación del Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado, elaborado por la autora según taxonomía NANDA-NIC-NOC, en base a la evidencia científica encontrada en la literatura. Se realizará la validación por expertos del Instrumento de Validación del Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado. Un resultado inferior a 0.05 de significancia estadística determinará la validez del instrumento de Validación. Posteriormente, se realizará la Validación del contenido del Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado por los mismos expertos, el cual será evaluado mediante el coeficiente V de AIKEN. Un valor superior a 0.8 de dicho coeficiente será evidencia de validez del Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado. The objective of this research is to validate the Standardized Care Plan for adult patients with COVID-19 receiving High Flow Oxygen Therapy in the Intensive Care Service I-2C of the Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, which will ensure safety and the quality of patient care. It is a study of non-experimental design, with a quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional approach. The population is made up of 67 nurses from I - 2C, of which 10 experts will be selected by non-probabilistic sampling according to the inclusion criteria. Authorization for access to the study population and your informed consent will be requested. The Validation of the Standardized Care Plan, prepared by the author according to the NANDA-NIC-NOC taxonomy, will be carried out, based on the scientific evidence found in the literature. The validation instrument of the Standardized Care Plan will be validated by experts. A result of less than 0.05 of statistical significance will determine the validity of the validation instrument. Subsequently, the Validation of the content of the Standardized Care Plan will be carried out by the same experts, which will be evaluated using the AIKEN V coefficient. A value greater than 0.8 of said coefficient will be evidence of validity of the Standardized Care Plan.

    El uso de la ciencia de datos para enfrentar la pandemia por Covid 19 en Costa Rica ha generado la posibilidad de fortalecer y ampliar el uso de tecnologías emergentes en los procesos de toma de decisiones que dependen de datos confiables y oportunos. En Costa Rica a lo largo de la pandemia se han generado insumos relevantes en la formulación de políticas en salud pública con la perspectiva de que sean más efectivas en evitar la exposición para prevenir la enfermedad, atender las poblaciones más vulnerables y generar el mayor bienestar y calidad de vida para la población en un contexto complejo desde la perspectiva social, económico y sanitario. La pandemia por Covid 19 y el proyecto de investigación desarrollado en la Universidad de Costa Rica, ha permitido reflejar el fortalecimiento del uso y conocimiento de la ciencia de datos para la toma de decisiones de política pública en el sector salud mediante la aplicación y conformación de redes de colaboración en diferentes ámbitos. También, ha potenciado el uso de la ciencia de datos para el enriquecimiento de la toma de decisiones y las políticas basadas en evidencias y datos. El uso de la tecnología de una manera más adaptada a las problemáticas en un contexto multi amenaza, obliga a poner la tecnología en la solución de emergencias sanitarias y desastres en salud, con el fin de agilizar el manejo de la información y, actuar de manera más pronta y oportuna. Así mismo, extender las redes académicas con investigadores locales, nacionales e internacionales en las Ciencias Matemáticas. A través del encuentro se busca motivar a la comunidad de nuestra región a participar activamente en eventos matemáticos para conocer de primera mano la evolución y el amplio alcance que posee esta ciencia a nivel mundial por cuenta de los expositores. La tercera versión del Encuentro Matemático del Caribe se realizó de forma remota del 14 al 17 de septiembre de 2021. En el mismo, se presentaron 52 conferencias, 7 minicursos abarcando las diferentes áreas de las Matemáticas y, adicionalmente, se realizaron las siguientes mesas redondas: El papel de las Matemáticas frente al COVID-19: Esta mesa redonda contó con la participación de Elizabeth González Patiño, coordinadora de desarrollo clínico del Instituto Butantan, Marlon Michael López Flores, pos-doctorando en Matemática Aplicada del IMPA, y César Augusto Nieto Acuña, quienes a partir de su experiencia en sus campos de actuación nos expusieron sobre la importancia y utilidad que han tenido las Matemáticas para afrontar la pandemia actual. Mujeres lideres de proyectos matemáticos: Luna Lomonaco, quien ha liderado varios proyectos de investigación en el Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada, Blanca Margarita Parra Mosqueda, quien es la coordinadora del Proyecto Lenguajes para aprender y comprender el mundo de la Escuela Nacional de Estudios Superiores Unidad León, UNAM, y Catalina María Rúa Álvarez, quien es coordinadora de las Olimpiadas Matemáticas regionales ORM UDENAR de la Universidad de Nariño, nos compartieron sus experiencias y trayectorias para llegar a liderar cada uno de sus proyectos. En estas memorias presentaremos los resúmenes de las conferencias y minicursos que se impartieron durante el III Encuentro Matemático del Caribe. Las conferencias están organizadas por áreas: Sistemas Dinámicos, Teoría de Grafos y combinatoria, Topología, Álgebra, Geometría, Análisis, Matemática aplicada, Estadística y Probabilidad, Ecuaciones Diferenciales, Educación y didáctica de las Matemática y finalmente se encuentran los minicursos impartidos.     (1) Introducción: Las escalas de gravedad para la evaluación de pacientes en estado crítico han sido ampliamente utilizadas en las unidades de cuidados intensivos con el objetivo de predecir mortalidad, caracterizar la gravedad de la enfermedad y establecer el grado de disfunción orgánica. ; (2) Métodos: Para la recolección de datos se utilizará una técnica cuantitativa tomando como fuente principal la información del Sistema (software) de la clínica donde se realizó el estudio, las historias clínicas de los pacientes, se realizará auditoria a las historias clínicas. ; (3) Resultados: Se analizaron 99 pacientes positivos a Covid-19, ingresados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos entre los meses de enero de 2021 y Junio de 2021. Se comparó las proporciones y medias de las variables de acuerdo a la sobrevivencia, ninguno tuvo un p-valor significativo, por lo tanto se puede asumir con un 95% que no hay diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre los vivos y los fallecidos por cada una de sus variables. ; y (4) Conclusiones: La mortalidad durante el año 2020 fue elevada debido a la pandemia que genero un efecto tanto patológico en el paciente (neumonía por Covid-19) y un efecto de disminución del recurso por el número de pacientes remitidos a la Unidad. Las escalas pronosticas fue de utilidad para predecir la probabilidad de muerte. (1) Introduction: Severity scales for evaluating critically ill patients have been widely used in intensive care units with the aim of predicting mortality, characterizing the severity of the disease and establishing the degree of organ dysfunction. ; (2) Methods: For data collection, a quantitative technique will be used, taking as the main source the information from the System (software) of the clinic where the study was carried out, the clinical records of the patients, and the clinical records will be audited. ; (3) Results: 99 Covid-19 positive patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit between January 2021 and June 2021 were analyzed. The proportions and means of the variables were compared according to survival, none had a significant p-value, therefore it can be assumed with 95% that there is no statistically significant difference between the living and the deceased for each of its variables. ; And (4) Conclusions: Mortality during 2020 was high due to the pandemic that generated both a pathological effect in the patient (Covid-19 pneumonia) and an effect of reducing the resource due to the number of patients referred to the Unit. . The prognostic scales were useful in predicting the probability of death.

    Introducción: En diciembre de 2019 se describen por primera vez casos de una infección de etiología desconocida que afectaba principalmente el tejido pulmonar en la provincia de Hubei, ciudad de Wuhan, China; detectándose posteriormente una nueva variedad de coronavirus la cual fue denominada síndrome respiratorio agudo severo inducido por coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) que genera la enfermedad coronavirus 2019. Dada su rápida tasa de transmisión y su aumento en número de casos es declarado como pandemia por la OMS. Objetivo: Caracterizar los aspectos clínicos, epidemiológicos y microbiológicos de los pacientes con infección por SARS-CoV-2 que requirieron ingreso hospitalario en una clínica de cuarto nivel. Metodología: se trata de un estudio observacional descriptivo, cuya información fue obtenida mediante la revisión de historias clínicas de pacientes mayores de edad hospitalizados en sala general o UCI con diagnóstico de COVID-19. Introduction: In December 2019, cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology were described for the first time in Hubei province, Wuhan city, China; subsequently detecting a new variety of coronavirus which was called severe acute respiratory syndrome induced by coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that generates the coronavirus disease 2019. Given its rapid transmission rate and its increase in the number of cases, it is declared a pandemic by WHO. Objective: To characterize the clinical, epidemiological, and microbiological aspects of patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection that required hospital admission to a fourth-level clinic. Methodology: it is a descriptive observational study, the information of which was obtained by reviewing the medical records of elderly patients hospitalized in a general ward or ICU with a diagnosis of COVID-19.

    Como tema central se aborda el término de urbanismo postraumático que comúnmente se discute en el marco de diversos conflictos y desastres (naturales o antrópicos). Propongo como objetivo principal reflexionar sobre este concepto y sus posibles aportes como herramienta de análisis del proceso de recuperación y resiliencia de las ciudades frente a la pandemia mundial COVID-19. En cuanto a la metodología, se acudió a una revisión bibliográfica crítica y no extensa. Es selectiva con dos autores principales: el arquitecto e investigador Adrian Lahoud que discute el concepto del efecto del trauma en la planificación urbana y, posteriormente, los aportes del filósofo y sociólogo francés, Edgar Morin, en el tema de la circularidad virtuosa. Los puntos centrales de la reflexión sugieren evitar aplicar una solución o un proyecto urbano propuesto de forma genérica a todas las ciudades a nivel mundial, en el contexto post pandemia. Los resultados indican que, a pesar de los patrones identificados como reacciones comunes a eventos traumáticos, es importante promover una evolución mejorada de las articulaciones urbanas, lejos de regresar a un mismo estado pre-trauma. A manera de reflexiones finales, se analizan las especificidades de los casos de estudio a la hora de evaluar la resiliencia de cada emplazamiento urbano. En momentos de cambio y situaciones extremas, como con el COVID-19, la incertidumbre tiene que catapultar la investigación que respalde la toma de decisiones y con nuevos nichos de estudio que aporten conocimiento a los diversos actores urbanos. The term post-traumatic urbanism is addressed as the main subject of this essay, term commonly discussed in the context of various conflicts and disasters (natural or man-made). I propose as the main objective to reflect on this concept and its possible contributions as a tool for analyzing the process of recovery and resilience of cities in the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Regarding the methodology, a critical and not extensive bibliographic review was used. It is selective with two main authors: the architect and researcher Adrian Lahoud who discusses the concept of the effect of trauma in urban planning and, later, the contributions of the French philosopher and sociologist, Edgar Morin, on the subject of virtuous circularity. The central points of the reflection suggest to avoid proposing a solution or an urban project in a generic way to all cities worldwide, in the post-pandemic context. The results indicate, that despite the patterns identified as common reactions to traumatic events, it is important to promote an improved evolution of urban dynamics, far from returning to the same pre-trauma state. As final conclusions, it is highlighted the importance of the specificities of each case study when evaluating the resilience of each urban location. In times of change and extreme situations, as with COVID-19, uncertainty has to catapult research that supports decision-making and with new study niches that provide knowledge to the various urban actors.     Antecedentes: La Cámara de Comercio Colombo Americana en Barranquilla, una empresa prestadora de servicios que a lo largo de los 23 años de cercanía y fortalecimiento empresarial ha trabajado en el acompañamiento y búsqueda de oportunidades a nivel cuidad con las empresas que hacen parte de ella. En este trayecto, no se había presentado situación alguna tan repentina como lo fue la irrupción de la pandemia COVID-19, la cual ha propiciado profundos cambios sociales y económicos. Las empresas afiliadas a la cámara se han visto obligadas a dar un giro de 180° en sus modelos de negocio para mantener y asegurar su continuidad en el mercado, teniendo y marcando una flexibilidad laboral que antes no se tenía , restructurando diversas áreas y puestos para el correcto desarrollo de ellas, van ligadas a la capacidad de innovar que es una de las herramientas diferenciadoras que logra a favor la capacidad de operación de las organizaciones en cuánto, cómo y para qué adaptarse a los nuevos y cambiantes entornos competitivos. Con este estudio planteado se plasmará una muestra de cómo la pandemia de covid-19 les ha dejado una enseñanza a los empresarios, de la reestructuración en la práctica de la responsabilidad social y el cómo darle importancia a todos los Stakeholders ofreciendo nuevos cambios al momento de proceder a los negocios.     La presente investigación tiene como objetivo validar el Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado para pacientes adultos con COVID-19 que reciben Oxigenoterapia de Alto Flujo en el Servicio de Cuidados Intensivos I-2C del Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, 2021, el cual permitirá garantizar la seguridad y la calidad de la atención de los pacientes. Es un estudio de diseño no experimental, con enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo, y de corte transversal. La población está conformada por 67 enfermeras del Servicio de Cuidados Intensivos I – 2C del Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, de los cuales se seleccionará por muestreo no probabilístico 10 expertos según los criterios de inclusión. Se solicitará autorización para el acceso a la población de estudio y su consentimiento informado. Se realizará la Validación del Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado, elaborado por la autora según taxonomía NANDA-NIC-NOC, en base a la evidencia científica encontrada en la literatura. Se realizará la validación por expertos del Instrumento de Validación del Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado. Un resultado inferior a 0.05 de significancia estadística determinará la validez del instrumento de Validación. Posteriormente, se realizará la Validación del contenido del Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado por los mismos expertos, el cual será evaluado mediante el coeficiente V de AIKEN. Un valor superior a 0.8 de dicho coeficiente será evidencia de validez del Plan de Cuidados Estandarizado. The objective of this research is to validate the Standardized Care Plan for adult patients with COVID-19 receiving High Flow Oxygen Therapy in the Intensive Care Service I-2C of the Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, which will ensure safety and the quality of patient care. It is a study of non-experimental design, with a quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional approach. The population is made up of 67 nurses from I - 2C, of which 10 experts will be selected by non-probabilistic sampling according to the inclusion criteria. Authorization for access to the study population and your informed consent will be requested. The Validation of the Standardized Care Plan, prepared by the author according to the NANDA-NIC-NOC taxonomy, will be carried out, based on the scientific evidence found in the literature. The validation instrument of the Standardized Care Plan will be validated by experts. A result of less than 0.05 of statistical significance will determine the validity of the validation instrument. Subsequently, the Validation of the content of the Standardized Care Plan will be carried out by the same experts, which will be evaluated using the AIKEN V coefficient. A value greater than 0.8 of said coefficient will be evidence of validity of the Standardized Care Plan.

    El uso de la ciencia de datos para enfrentar la pandemia por Covid 19 en Costa Rica ha generado la posibilidad de fortalecer y ampliar el uso de tecnologías emergentes en los procesos de toma de decisiones que dependen de datos confiables y oportunos. En Costa Rica a lo largo de la pandemia se han generado insumos relevantes en la formulación de políticas en salud pública con la perspectiva de que sean más efectivas en evitar la exposición para prevenir la enfermedad, atender las poblaciones más vulnerables y generar el mayor bienestar y calidad de vida para la población en un contexto complejo desde la perspectiva social, económico y sanitario. La pandemia por Covid 19 y el proyecto de investigación desarrollado en la Universidad de Costa Rica, ha permitido reflejar el fortalecimiento del uso y conocimiento de la ciencia de datos para la toma de decisiones de política pública en el sector salud mediante la aplicación y conformación de redes de colaboración en diferentes ámbitos. También, ha potenciado el uso de la ciencia de datos para el enriquecimiento de la toma de decisiones y las políticas basadas en evidencias y datos. El uso de la tecnología de una manera más adaptada a las problemáticas en un contexto multi amenaza, obliga a poner la tecnología en la solución de emergencias sanitarias y desastres en salud, con el fin de agilizar el manejo de la información y, actuar de manera más pronta y oportuna. Así mismo, extender las redes académicas con investigadores locales, nacionales e internacionales en las Ciencias Matemáticas. A través del encuentro se busca motivar a la comunidad de nuestra región a participar activamente en eventos matemáticos para conocer de primera mano la evolución y el amplio alcance que posee esta ciencia a nivel mundial por cuenta de los expositores. La tercera versión del Encuentro Matemático del Caribe se realizó de forma remota del 14 al 17 de septiembre de 2021. En el mismo, se presentaron 52 conferencias, 7 minicursos abarcando las diferentes áreas de las Matemáticas y, adicionalmente, se realizaron las siguientes mesas redondas: El papel de las Matemáticas frente al COVID-19: Esta mesa redonda contó con la participación de Elizabeth González Patiño, coordinadora de desarrollo clínico del Instituto Butantan, Marlon Michael López Flores, pos-doctorando en Matemática Aplicada del IMPA, y César Augusto Nieto Acuña, quienes a partir de su experiencia en sus campos de actuación nos expusieron sobre la importancia y utilidad que han tenido las Matemáticas para afrontar la pandemia actual. Mujeres lideres de proyectos matemáticos: Luna Lomonaco, quien ha liderado varios proyectos de investigación en el Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada, Blanca Margarita Parra Mosqueda, quien es la coordinadora del Proyecto Lenguajes para aprender y comprender el mundo de la Escuela Nacional de Estudios Superiores Unidad León, UNAM, y Catalina María Rúa Álvarez, quien es coordinadora de las Olimpiadas Matemáticas regionales ORM UDENAR de la Universidad de Nariño, nos compartieron sus experiencias y trayectorias para llegar a liderar cada uno de sus proyectos. En estas memorias presentaremos los resúmenes de las conferencias y minicursos que se impartieron durante el III Encuentro Matemático del Caribe. Las conferencias están organizadas por áreas: Sistemas Dinámicos, Teoría de Grafos y combinatoria, Topología, Álgebra, Geometría, Análisis, Matemática aplicada, Estadística y Probabilidad, Ecuaciones Diferenciales, Educación y didáctica de las Matemática y finalmente se encuentran los minicursos impartidos.     (1) Introducción: Las escalas de gravedad para la evaluación de pacientes en estado crítico han sido ampliamente utilizadas en las unidades de cuidados intensivos con el objetivo de predecir mortalidad, caracterizar la gravedad de la enfermedad y establecer el grado de disfunción orgánica. ; (2) Métodos: Para la recolección de datos se utilizará una técnica cuantitativa tomando como fuente principal la información del Sistema (software) de la clínica donde se realizó el estudio, las historias clínicas de los pacientes, se realizará auditoria a las historias clínicas. ; (3) Resultados: Se analizaron 99 pacientes positivos a Covid-19, ingresados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos entre los meses de enero de 2021 y Junio de 2021. Se comparó las proporciones y medias de las variables de acuerdo a la sobrevivencia, ninguno tuvo un p-valor significativo, por lo tanto se puede asumir con un 95% que no hay diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre los vivos y los fallecidos por cada una de sus variables. ; y (4) Conclusiones: La mortalidad durante el año 2020 fue elevada debido a la pandemia que genero un efecto tanto patológico en el paciente (neumonía por Covid-19) y un efecto de disminución del recurso por el número de pacientes remitidos a la Unidad. Las escalas pronosticas fue de utilidad para predecir la probabilidad de muerte. (1) Introduction: Severity scales for evaluating critically ill patients have been widely used in intensive care units with the aim of predicting mortality, characterizing the severity of the disease and establishing the degree of organ dysfunction. ; (2) Methods: For data collection, a quantitative technique will be used, taking as the main source the information from the System (software) of the clinic where the study was carried out, the clinical records of the patients, and the clinical records will be audited. ; (3) Results: 99 Covid-19 positive patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit between January 2021 and June 2021 were analyzed. The proportions and means of the variables were compared according to survival, none had a significant p-value, therefore it can be assumed with 95% that there is no statistically significant difference between the living and the deceased for each of its variables. ; And (4) Conclusions: Mortality during 2020 was high due to the pandemic that generated both a pathological effect in the patient (Covid-19 pneumonia) and an effect of reducing the resource due to the number of patients referred to the Unit. . The prognostic scales were useful in predicting the probability of death.

    Introducción: En diciembre de 2019 se describen por primera vez casos de una infección de etiología desconocida que afectaba principalmente el tejido pulmonar en la provincia de Hubei, ciudad de Wuhan, China; detectándose posteriormente una nueva variedad de coronavirus la cual fue denominada síndrome respiratorio agudo severo inducido por coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) que genera la enfermedad coronavirus 2019. Dada su rápida tasa de transmisión y su aumento en número de casos es declarado como pandemia por la OMS. Objetivo: Caracterizar los aspectos clínicos, epidemiológicos y microbiológicos de los pacientes con infección por SARS-CoV-2 que requirieron ingreso hospitalario en una clínica de cuarto nivel. Metodología: se trata de un estudio observacional descriptivo, cuya información fue obtenida mediante la revisión de historias clínicas de pacientes mayores de edad hospitalizados en sala general o UCI con diagnóstico de COVID-19. Introduction: In December 2019, cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology were described for the first time in Hubei province, Wuhan city, China; subsequently detecting a new variety of coronavirus which was called severe acute respiratory syndrome induced by coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that generates the coronavirus disease 2019. Given its rapid transmission rate and its increase in the number of cases, it is declared a pandemic by WHO. Objective: To characterize the clinical, epidemiological, and microbiological aspects of patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection that required hospital admission to a fourth-level clinic. Methodology: it is a descriptive observational study, the information of which was obtained by reviewing the medical records of elderly patients hospitalized in a general ward or ICU with a diagnosis of COVID-19.
